    11:04 Conclusion
    63.6 degrees - that’s a pretty nice temperature for riding your bike. It’s also where I’d like to set my AC but my wife claims she’d freeze to death at that point. Marital problems aside, we’re not talking about temperature here. 63.6 degrees is the slackest head tube angle I’ve ever ridden. Coincidentally, it’s the head tube angle of the Transition Sentinel V2. Just going off this number, it would be easy to pigeonhole the Sentinel into the enduro/couch/big pig category. I wouldn’t blame you for doing that - I did the same thing before I rode it. I think it’s a little more well-rounded than it may seem at first glance.

    Great video Connor! I ran into the same issue just last week when I went to install my Absolute Black oval 32 on my Ibis Ripmo V2, there was literally only about 0.010" clearance with the chain stay. Disappointing really, so I'm waiting to get a refund for it and decide if I want to drop to a 30. The Ripmo climbs so great I'm undecided. Best part was seeing the condo with no snow LOL. However in 2009 the ski season looked a little bit like summer. Can't wait for the next one, thanks again!

    Would love to see a Scout review as well. I'm considering one of the two, leaning towards the Scout mostly because I've never been on a 29 inch bike. Being as I need a small frame 29ers always seem too big. I need a true do everything bike apart from super aggressive shuttle and bike park days as I have a dedicated DH bike for that. The Scout seems like the better option for an every day bike that can go from aggressive enduro trails to after work XCish laps to all day rides. If you can demo one I'm sure lots of people would be interested as there is a serious lack of coverage on the Scout.

    Hi there! Nice video, but i have a question... Why No one in reviews has ever drop 1 or 2 spacers from the stem for example, to drop down the height of the handlebar and have more weight over the front? I did that and all the wash out part dissapeared and its very predictable like a 65 degree headtube angle bike. I dont have to change my riding position. Handlebar height, is taller than my Capra 29er was with 170mm fork.... Give this option a shot , and give us an update if you want... Cheers 🤙🍺

    so, in the wake of the spire and new patro and the buzz and whatnotl, how would you say the current sentinel compares to the evil the offering or the devinci the troy or the ibis the ripmo or the classic big-ish allrounder, the kona the process the 153?

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Out of all of those I’ve only ridden the sentinel and ripmo. They fall in the same category but at opposite ends. Ripmo climbs better and feels more nimble on the DH. Sentinel is on the burlier end of the all-mountain category.

  • @maffin2917
    @maffin2917 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Transition says on their website that the bike is able to run with 140mm travel aswell. I checked how the Geo changes when you would combine the Frame with a 150mm fork to run a 140/150 setup. In XL you would get:
    505.4mm Reach
    636.5mm stack
    1287.6mm wheelbase
    -32mm bb-Offset
    76.8° STA
    64° HTA
    I think a 140/150mm 29er with this geo would be an awesome bike.

    I had to choose between the Sentinel or the Megatower. In the end I bought the Megatower. I'm 6ft & the LG Sentinel felt a little too small & very cramped up in the cockpit underneath me compared to the LG Megatower. But I rode the sentinel in XL & it felt a little better but I still went with Santa Cruz in the long run because of the warranty they offer can't be beat. • @bikersedge

      Actual vs effective makes a huge difference. Seat tube angles are all over the place because there’s no standard for the height at which they’re measured. I’ve never ridden the Slash but I stand by the Sentinel being proper steep even at my freakishly high saddle height.

      Also 6'2 on XL. I'd recommend L if I were you because the reach is appropriate, and it's pretty slack so has a good long wheelbase to start with meaning you don't need to upsize. But really go with whichever you can get your hands on.

    Hi. Do you have experience with Marin alpine trail c2? I want to buy a Transition Sentinel and discovered Marin. The geometry is almost the same on paper, the Marin is only 1 cm longer in the front and 1 cm shorter in the rear, to put it simply (the reach is a centimeter longer and the chainstays are a centimeter shorter... And the price of the Marin is unbeatable... Thanks a lot for the answer, Pavel.

    • @bikersedge
      @bikersedge  ปีที่แล้ว

      No experience with the Marin. It’s not a brand we carry. Geo is only half of the equation. Suspension design is a huge factor too. That’s what makes the sentinel so amazing for me.
