When Cody and his Dad work together you really get to see how Cody’s love of recycling old machinery into built from the ground up equipment to sate his minds need for scientific enquiry comes from. Ranchers and farmers are never given enough credit for their intelligence and resourcefulness. Cody and Dad are a dream team 👍
I don't think he's blaming others. Dads make a huge difference, that's just a fact. Sure, you got to bear it if your dad sucks. You got no other choice. But, remember that dads or future dads might be reading this, and they have responsibilities too. Being a good dad is a much bigger responsibility than being a good son, until that son grows up and has to take responsibility for himself.
my dad says wi-fi is bad for your health. Meanwhile, he's surronded by light 100 000 times stronger and doesn't die instantly. Strange... and idk what light could do if it's not ionizing.
@Dan Bourget You're making logical fallacies and assumptions on a severely lacking premise. It was never stated anywhere that the poster "got nowhere in life". That is a condescending conclusion made up by you. The poster said that his dad made his life miserable until he was big enough to stand up to him, which something else entirely, and you know it.
I wouldn't say this is an education channel, more an experiment channel. But yes, he has been growing fast. I subbed to him when he had about 25k subs, and he never really changed, that's what I like about him.
I like TH-cam, TBH. Can you imagine what either Cody or NileRed's shows would be like on American cable? "CODY NEEDS TO BUILD A NEW BALL MILL" "My dad's helping me rebuild the ball mill..." ... "AND NOW HE NEEDS TO DECIDE WHETHER TO MOUNT THE MOTOR ABOVE..." "We could mount it up here, or-" *rusty door sound effect* "OR BELOW" "I like it down here because it'd be more compact..."
this is a cody channel, not a science channel... cody is randomly doing things, science is just so happen to be one of them. he also does farming and stuffs
Watching you and your pops work together restores my faith in humanity. Willing to work, make their own tools, and generally cool as can be. Tell your dad I said the world needs more like him..... and you.
I remember working with my dad like this - Like your dad, he could take junk that was laying around and turn it into cool new stuff. I learnt to do the same - gotta think laterally. Cheers Dad. I miss ya xx
Mr67Steve Even cooler that him and his dad disagree on such a large topic, yet they still love each other. I respect his parents a hell of a lot for that.
I hope you cherish the time spent with your father as much as I did... My father passed away 3 months ago, and this reminded me of us building an air compressor out of a chrysler air conditioning compressor and lots of scrap parts :-) Well done Cody and father :-)
It's awesome to have channels like this on TH-cam and it seems since the site is changing, so much of the community is kinda focusing more and more on what they love to watch. Just makes a stronger support for Cody.
Never seen anyone cut so well with a torch before. Folks, before we had cnc, computers, etc, people like Codys Dad helped build the world with their hard-earned skills!
I tried making thermite only out of rust and aluminum foil. It turned out amazing and worked extremely well. A ballmill is a really useful tool. The only problem when running it over a longer period of time is that it is using quite a lot of energy... Great project!
Yes if you had a continuous source of moving water like a river, you could easily power a ball mill with that. Unfortunately Cody doesn't have a river near by.
You and your Dad are so incredibly clever, it leaves me in awe the amazing things you guys make with stuff from around the ranch and around your house, reusing things that other people just throw out to make useful and helpful tools, you have no idea how much I appreciate the stuff you do!
i think this is one of the best videos youve ever made. I loved it from beginning to end. especially how you and your dad worked together. put him on your channel more often
It's so cool to see your dad get just as excited as you about the ball mill and the Calcite Vein. I wish my dad was like that! Cherish and love that Man Cody, not too many like him around anymore! Great Vid Cody and Dad! Keep it up and make sure to include your dad in some more videos!!!!
Props to your old man rocking a swanson! Btw, you should make som sort of "funnel" for pouring the material and the balls. You already have the bolts for the door, which could be re-purposed as bolts for the funnel? I imagine that it's just a matter of some scrap metal and some welding, and you're golden :)
Nature took millions of years to put all of that together to make the rocks and Cody takes three hours to pull it all back apart. Loved the video, fun watching you work with your dad
So it runs in the family eh? You guys are awesome, It is always nice to see father and son engaged in projects and having fun together! Cheers from Brazil.
Along this line. A trick my dad taught me. Use a mountain bike derailer. Remove the gear and place a similar sized pulley. Also gives you adjustable tension which helps when later down the line you find your favorite belts aren't sold anymore and have to change to a brand that is slightly different.
Just found your channel. Taught my dad how to arc weld to help in a reengineer or a 30" trommel. Didn't finish it before his cancer took him but this project reminded me of that. It was good to think about.
Thank goodness for Cody's Dad, and his Mom. They must be either saints or superheroes to have survived raising him. I think they did a pretty good job.
"Lets make a washer out of this" I love how resourceful yall are! Most people would just throw the cut-out away as scrap, but you guys are always looking for other uses for everything!
Sounds like you get your electricity from an old 1910 CP engine/alternator. As vid progressed, I seen your yard, and my sorta joke made more sense. Then,.. The Mine! That old engine noise just must be an old gen set. Am I right? Maybe if I watched more of your vids I would know. Your place would be heaven for me, nothing better than lots of cool things to do. I have a good bit of heaven here where I live too, but on a much smaller lot.
Horribly i have been exposed to many folks that think most old no longer used stuff is junk , I hate their mentality and I can find repurposing in just about anything , thank God for people that have vision in design ! 🐯 tnx for video !
Hey Cody, can you do some videos on that old hit and miss engine sometime? Also you might want to make a removable slide hopper that will give you like a big funnel to pour that material into so it will load the mill quicker. You could just slowly pour the bucket into it instead of going a pitcher at a time.
Great job :) I'd probably box off underneath just in case the dog sniffs too close when it's running unattended. His tail could get in the bolts on the side and go up around the axle. And your Dad came good with the video of the first day's work too!
Dad time 💚 Probably the best high quality me and my day have, is when we're working together on various projects. We don't always agree, but that's some of the charm 😊
+captainnemo I've never seen Cody's mom in any video before however I've just checked out one of his videos (the gold plating one) that does incude his mother and you're right! :)
Hey Cody! This is one awesome video!! Me seeing you and your dad making that ball mill together and going to the mines makes my heart warm. I wish all the best for ya'll!
So why not just put a door on an electric cement mixer? They average 28-30 rpm and can handle hundreds of pounds, with the added bonus of being tippable to empty. Would it be because the motor may not be able to run as long as required for a ball mill?
Even then you can just replace the motor with one capable of doing so. Real reason is probably because they're expensive as heck compared to some old junk lying around that can be repurposed.
Kain Yusanagi true, I thought of that, but for its purpose, I figure one of them $200 northern tool deals would do just fine since interior fin design would be irrelevant if not removed entirely and commercial use probably isn't the plan for it.
It can probably handle the weight, but I assume the metal is still relatively thin and the erosion from the balls and material will wear out through very quickly. Cement, having water, kinda lubricates the walls, and some cement dries up on the walls too and kinda protects them. The cheap ones are probably made of the lowest quality materials too. But basically i just think it would just get holes through it quickly
Maybe I'm wrong, but as I understood you need center of rotation perpendicular to gravity (otherwise balls will stay in the bottom and all powder will stay on top). Also you need to be sure that everything that is placed inside of ball mill stays there, and open top won't make that easy.
MK I can see where you are coming from, some of it make sense, my main reason for asking is me and my dad used an electric cement mixer as a ball mill of sorts (similar in principle anyway) to hull hundreds of black walnuts at the same time though we added water as you stated, but it lasted 5 years before it quit and it was just a harbor freight special for $150 lol
Cody, have you ever heard of an Ayam Cemani chicken? (Everything about them is black, even their bones! But not the eyes) My mom has 2 and they are broody, and OML, it is funny yet scary. You go to take their eggs and they come bolting at you, screaming, heck, they are the true velociraptors!!!

Yup, you got a problem and need a tool you don't have? You make it.
What a great dad! You are very lucky to have him! 👍 May you guys have many more great times together! ✌️
people can change, life can change, make a change. its hard but it helps you only get one life dont live in regret. chin up and all that.

I love how a science channel can have as many subscribers as a gaming channel. This channel is awesome!
Cody needs his own show on discovery channel or something. Him and NileRed could be the new Bill nye or whatever haha
I wouldn't say this is an education channel, more an experiment channel. But yes, he has been growing fast. I subbed to him when he had about 25k subs, and he never really changed, that's what I like about him.

You're very lucky to have such a handy dad.
Cody and his Dad will rule the world during the zombie apocalypse.
Platzhallter It's the command base.
Correction they will start it...
I am ok with it, as long as I can be the king after the apocalypse, ok?
AboboKing what what is That diraframe pupmp duing
And we will be the zombies...
That is one sweet mill. Would have loved it back when I was making firework compositions by the bucket.
Welcome to another episode of Cody'sDad.
Cody's Bald
Hepad Not yet ;) I'd imagine it would be due to an experiment that he would go bald
ganymedeIV4 if he becomes a serial killer cody'sstab. Or a boxer codysjab
CrimsonCosmo I would rather die
Don't forget we've also got codysslab, the boss first gen ranger
Your father did a great time lapse. When are we going to see the Cody's Dad TH-cam channel? ☺.
Nigel Lovatt "Welcome back to Cody's Dad"…
Tbh it really doesn’t matter what I’m doing, once a new video from Cody pops up, I’m watching it.
What is it that makes me love his videos so much? Is it just how great Cody is?
you've gotta be on the computer though, right?
just in the middle of fucking someone and hear a notification just "get out now"throw the person out and watch the video XD
_Just in case no one's told you . . . you need a haircut!_
Gizmo Goose. Haha thanks ;) weird thing you’re literally the VERY FIRST person to say that, isn’t that so weird? Haha
Watching you and your pops work together restores my faith in humanity. Willing to work, make their own tools, and generally cool as can be. Tell your dad I said the world needs more like him..... and you.
Props to your dad, he’s a good welder. Probably an all around good man, too, no doubt.
I remember working with my dad like this - Like your dad, he could take junk that was laying around and turn it into cool new stuff. I learnt to do the same - gotta think laterally. Cheers Dad. I miss ya xx

We want an X-ray of the powdered ore
ronnie Sciortino yes!!! Please!!
_there's_ the comment I wanted to make.
XRAY EVERY WALL OF THE CAVE
also maybe your own hand. I mean, it surely doesn't release too high a dose, right?
Pretty sure we all want an xray of his little cody as well
OH shit he xrayed his finger? And gave its chem contents? WHERE? I missed it! Link pl0x
Great to see you and your dad working together. He's done a fine job with you. That ball mill will be grinding 100 years from now.
Maybe you need to replace the engine
Your dad is so nice. I want him to be my second dad.
I want him to be my first Dad
Really?????? first you should ask your Mom that you want him as your second dad.
What a lovely relationship Cody has with his dad

This is genuinly nice to watch. A dad like that warms my heart, great role-model!
Codys father being a Ron Swanson.... This explains so much.
lol
It's awesome to have channels like this on TH-cam and it seems since the site is changing, so much of the community is kinda focusing more and more on what they love to watch. Just makes a stronger support for Cody.
I’m amazed by how little grey hair your dad has for having you as a son.
You both still are great though!
He almost looks younger than Cody.
Pretty sure he's dying his hair / getting his hair dyed
Some people just hardly turn grey.
Never seen anyone cut so well with a torch before. Folks, before we had cnc, computers, etc, people like Codys Dad helped build the world with their hard-earned skills!

"wearing those safety goggles as a hat?"
stone dust in the eye both sucks and rocks
That is a real treat to be able to do projects with your Dad that is AWESOME!!!!! I miss those days but I have the memories -Two thumbs up!
Yep, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree...
(My dad was the same way, taught me everything I know. I wish I could still ask him stuff.)
Ace Lightning makes me want to talk to my dad more.
kim dav do it. He won't be around forever.
Do it now, while you still can!
My dad died suddenly in 1998, just a month short of his 80th birthday. Sometimes I wonder if he's proud of me...
Ace Lightning What does the saying mean? Sorry. I need to talk to my Dad alot more
It's awesome working with your dad I love them collaborations. Enjoy every second with your dad thank you for sharing peace out
Props to your old man rocking a swanson!

I really love the time-lapse videos you add at the end of each episode. That in conjunction with the audio clips really brings it all together.
Those are some weird looking baked beans
Harold yeah.,
... plenty of iron though.
They seem pretty hard to eat.
Harold yeah they are "Boston baked beans" kinda hard on your teeth
Nature took millions of years to put all of that together to make the rocks and Cody takes three hours to pull it all back apart.
Loved the video, fun watching you work with your dad
The sound of the farm generator is hypnotic, it's sending me back to sleep (not in a bored way, just in a "weird things make me sleepy!" kind!!)... :P
120 rpm? Maybe somethin like the heart of your mum?
So it runs in the family eh? You guys are awesome, It is always nice to see father and son engaged in projects and having fun together! Cheers from Brazil.
Ball mills can be used for making gunpowder, now you're gonna get demonitized :(
DKTAz00 dude je refined uranium
He
DKTAz00 Use lead balls^
its a carbon steel canister, making gunpowder in it would not be the best idea.
vexes908 Shhhh! Don't feed thd Trolls sir!
You really have something special with your father, never forget that. Also thanks for the time lapse of the build, much appreciated!
Cody could you give us a tour of your garage and ranch?
And why is there a boat in there?
Because they don't have a pond
Nazi
gubx42 why is there a boat in a garage?
It's really great to see you and your father taking on projects like this together. I can tell he's proud of you.
To get that loose belt sorted out, a good way is to have a third wheel rest on top if it under its own weigh, only need to connect it to a hinge!
Along this line. A trick my dad taught me. Use a mountain bike derailer. Remove the gear and place a similar sized pulley. Also gives you adjustable tension which helps when later down the line you find your favorite belts aren't sold anymore and have to change to a brand that is slightly different.
You and your dad work great together. And your old man is a real junkyard engineer I like this very much.
What's the techno song name playing in the background?
Darude Compressor
Homo Sapiens it's a German industrial song of some kind
Hit&Miss by Lister (and maybe Petter)
It's the Hardbass Anthem ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
sounded like a Lister CS diesel, or some slow speed diesel. good ol thumper sounds either way.
Just found your channel. Taught my dad how to arc weld to help in a reengineer or a 30" trommel. Didn't finish it before his cancer took him but this project reminded me of that. It was good to think about.
It is easy to see where Cody gets his "hands on" approach to solving problems.
Yeah, " A COUNTRY BOY CAN SURVIVE " , and WILL survive ! 😊
He makes what he needs, and uses what he makes !
Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍
Cool seeing you work with your old man.
I loved the time-lapse at the end there. It hasn't occurred to me that you could make a drum like that, but it totally makes sense!
I made a miniature ball mill out of an old printer and a tin can. Runs on 12V and works like a charme for years now...
What balls are you using?
Stainless Steel Bearings from my car mechanic
+Homemade Chemistry How many rpm does it go?
For crushing stone? :D
+Steven003 I couldn't tell you... But I will measure it, now you made me curious!
The time-lapse at the end is a really good touch. Pretty cool of your dad.
Hell yeah! I can't wait to subscribe to the Cody'sDad channel!
WOW your dad recorded the work he did in a very usable way as well! So great to see your dad so supportive of you in so many ways.
Cody, can you extract and recover the minerals in mineral water? I would really like to see how much you can get from a few liters 😁
Armin Petz You can usually find Total Dissolved Solids on the label, 300-500mg or so per litre.
Pook365 I know what's in mineral water, but I'm interested how much he can recover, and maybe purify the salts into metals :D
Really dude... Put it in a stainless steel pot and boil it yourself.
yeah you boil the water, obviously
Cody's Dad's Lab.
Cherish the days you get to spend with your dad in the shop - people definitely don't get enough of those.
Who knew Cody's dad had such a glorious mustache?!
That will work. Great plan and using used things to make it rocks. Tell Dad thanks the inspirations we are now all getting.
The real question is, will it blend?
+Higor Guedes Don't let this meme die.
It chooches, that is good enough.
Ball smoke.... don’t breath that!
John Possum And it is skookum as frig!
I love how you and your dad build things like this. The fact that its made from a truck rim is so cool
Always happy to see another upload from you :D
This deserves something awesome for Father's day
Build a hopper that bolts to the opening... Will make filling much easier.
Neil Wolfaardt and a double chest to collect it....
I love Cody and his dad. Father and son is a great way to work.
He should start his own channel.. Cody'sDad.
Thank goodness for Cody's Dad, and his Mom. They must be either saints or superheroes to have survived raising him. I think they did a pretty good job.
Never been so early love from india been watching you for 4 years
"Lets make a washer out of this" I love how resourceful yall are! Most people would just throw the cut-out away as scrap, but you guys are always looking for other uses for everything!
wish my dad made quality video's for me to put on youtube!!! lol... cant wait to see what you guys do with it great work y'all
Reminds me when I used to work with my dad, he passed away a couple of years ago and I really miss him. You are very lucky.
Could you do a short video about the little motor that is often heard chugging away at the ranch. What does it power?
2soldierman2 if I remember correctly it is a diesel generator
he did actually do one that powers their house and shop i believe
it's a hit and miss engine I believe, but I am curious as to how they can weld with it?
@@jwalker7567 After some time you just ignore that stuff. Brain is great at filtering information.
Fantastic result scrap yard engineering that crusher. Thanks for sharing mate
Bret Redfern I'm guessing it's an old air compressor
Loving the shop talk between you guys! Keep up the great work Cody, regardless of what TH-cam do you have support!
Have you considered adding lifters to the inside to get more impact into the crushing process, it could help significantly.
Big thanks to your dad for filming the start of yet another awesome ending timelapse! :D
I loooooooove you, Cody! 💚💜💙💛
Horribly i have been exposed to many folks that think most old no longer used stuff is junk , I hate their mentality and I can find repurposing in just about anything , thank God for people that have vision in design ! 🐯 tnx for video !
Cody for President 2038
Great video...love seeing Father and son working as a team... cheers
Hey Cody, can you do some videos on that old hit and miss engine sometime? Also you might want to make a removable slide hopper that will give you like a big funnel to pour that material into so it will load the mill quicker. You could just slowly pour the bucket into it instead of going a pitcher at a time.
I absolutely love this channel, 1.4 million subs and it doesn't feel like it, still feels like a smaller channel (which isn't a bad thing.)
Cody, you are one cool cat. Good video man!
CoDad is a nice addition - I wasn't sure what it'd be like, having him on video so extensively like this, but the synergy between you two is cool!
Thumbs up for Mums & Dads!
Great job :) I'd probably box off underneath just in case the dog sniffs too close when it's running unattended. His tail could get in the bolts on the side and go up around the axle.
And your Dad came good with the video of the first day's work too!
Make a chute for it so you can load ore easier.
Works amazing. I'm glad you're dad shot video.
"Remember when River had his tail go through the motor?" - Only at Codys house.
Dad time 💚 Probably the best high quality me and my day have, is when we're working together on various projects. We don't always agree, but that's some of the charm 😊

his wife has been in a couple
+captainnemo I've never seen Cody's mom in any video before however I've just checked out one of his videos (the gold plating one) that does incude his mother and you're right! :)
Brandon Fisher he probably meant Cody's fiance. She has been in videos too.
+Mr30friends You mean Kanyon? Well I wouldn't count Kanyon and Cody as being family members yet lol
Brandon Fisher well, I don't know if they are married or not.
Hey Cody! This is one awesome video!! Me seeing you and your dad making that ball mill together and going to the mines makes my heart warm. I wish all the best for ya'll!
When will your fusion reactor finish?
Seeing you and your dad in action, it makes sense as to why you're so creative and machine-savvy.
So why not just put a door on an electric cement mixer? They average 28-30 rpm and can handle hundreds of pounds, with the added bonus of being tippable to empty. Would it be because the motor may not be able to run as long as required for a ball mill?
