I get this physical feeling in my gut when I see this iteration of the band. Really, really takes me back, to a time when I was so much more idealistic.
I hear ya. I saw them at the Berkeley Greek Theatre on this tour. Don't know if there's a concert moment that made me feel more than the, "To all that enter heeeeeeeeere!" part of "Roulette Dares". Then, seeing their giant shadows as they were jamming out Cassandra Gemini. Intense.
Thank you so much for posting this. This is my absolute favourite incarnation of The Mars Volta and the version that I consider to be my favourite band. It really was something magical to see them when they just had Frances and Deloused as material. Makes me get all emotional and nostalgic.
+deathbyqtip33 They didn't play Cleveland this tour they played Detroit. The show opening for SOAD was later that year I believe, they played Tower City.
Kevin Jones The show in Berlin from earlier in the year is another very exceptional performance by Cedric. 2005 was easily his best year as a vocalist.
04-06 cedric was a fuckin animal this is crazy demanding vocally im sure he has long term damage...dope vocalist these guys in all of their bands own my playlists
+Daniel Dunn 2005 was Cedric at the height of his powers. Before that he was coming into his own with the new style, and after that his voice was getting worn out from overuse and weed.

RIP Isaiah "Ikey" Owens =(
Cedric and everyone absolutely killed this performance, truly gorgeous to hear.

I remember this! Can’t believe 18 years ago now
No way! Must find time to watch this is full. I remember it being one of a few great, berserk Volta shows I saw on the first two album cycles.
Whoever recorded this, I love you.
What an incredible show.
I was there. Holy shit this was/is killer.
I saw them 3 more times after. Once with the other drummer. This show was unmatched.
which other drummer? thomas or deantoni
@@redacted1402 Thomas Pridget
Best volta gig on youtube

I envy every person that was there that night.

TIMESTAMPS PLS. Numbers are useless when songs can be 15+ minutes long
I asked for timestamps 2 months ago and I'm back to say I finally watched the whole thing. Wow. Glad I did. Just wow.
Saw this tour in Cleveland. Went to see system of a down and discovered TMV. By far the best show I've ever seen. Wish I could go back.
same here...in Pensacola Florida...saw Omar and they blew me away...have almost every album hes put out so far
+deathbyqtip33 They didn't play Cleveland this tour they played Detroit. The show opening for SOAD was later that year I believe, they played Tower City.
+Sure Umm I was at the tower city concert. fun fun fun
Thank you! I was trying to remember who I saw them with the first time!
deathbyqtip33 same except in Toronto
The only concert in which Cedric's performance exceeds that of Omar.
Kevin Jones The show in Berlin from earlier in the year is another very exceptional performance by Cedric. 2005 was easily his best year as a vocalist.
it's not a contest ;)
04-06 cedric was a fuckin animal
this is crazy demanding vocally im sure he has long term damage...dope vocalist these guys in all of their bands own my playlists
But isn't he on playback?... I hear him singing while his microphone is far from his mouth a couple of times...

man his voice is really killer in this
+Daniel Dunn 2005 was Cedric at the height of his powers. Before that he was coming into his own with the new style, and after that his voice was getting worn out from overuse and weed.
2005 baby.
Yeah, I would say overuse and age are the main things. No famous rock singer who sings challenging material can sing the same into their late 30s.
that jump into the instrumental of Cygnus was fucking glorious. glad the whole audience realized this too

No Sarcophagi on either Cygnus or Cassandra? ): The fact that it bookends the album is one of the thing that makes it so enjoyable.
they play cassandra here search for the second part of this vid
DeadeyesX311 Yeah ik they play cassandra, but they don't end it with Sarcophagi (the 52 second ballad)
Best live version of Roulette dares.
roulette dares? time stamp?
Goddamn!
Was this March 1st?
March 1st was in Berlin. That is an excellent show, and I'm in the process of getting that one uploaded.
