Fun trivia, but Joe Johnson, who directed The First Avenger, designed The Iron Giant - and there was an early What If episode concept for a crossover between First Avenger and another Johnson Disney sci-fi movie set in a similar timeframe, The Rocketeer. So whether or not the Stomper was specifically designed after the Iron Giant, they were definitely keeping Johnson's aesthetics in mind.
In regards to the Watcher, I think Marvel missed a great opportunity in the Disney+ What If...? by not getting the rights to use "Every Breath You Take" by the Police. For Hasbro's Hydra Stomper, I personally want a version where I can take Steve Rogers in and out of it. And also a removable Tesseract (aka the Cosmic Cube).
You can easily see how people could do some cool mods to these and army build them as just an armored soldier unit that would fit in with sci fi military displays.
Maaaan this looks so cool. I love this aesthetic for an iron man armor, and that lineup shot with The Stomper, Iron Monger, and Hulkbuster? Oh that's beautiful.
I think this is the first time I’ve gotten a Legends figure here in the Uk at the same time as US Toy reviewers showcasing that same figure, great overview Robo as always! 👍 I really hope Hasbro give us a Wave 2 of What If figures 👍
Yeah, I noticed while posing mine and watching this review that it was a real pain getting him to stand in a neutral pose. He needs his feet wider and his toes out to balance with being so top heavy, I think.
This the Captain Carter and Zombie Cap are the What If. figs I want so far. They need to do a Steve Rogers fig from this story .... Stompers were great .. they were a really hot toy when I was a kid ... everyone wanted them.

As a collector of mainly the transforming aeroplane mecha ( Robotech / Macross ) type figures, that problem of having a figure stand straight up ( non dynamic pose ) is very familiar. It is indeed mostly caused by having so much weight high up in the figure. For the Robotech and Macross toys, some manufacturers went with metal feet to give a little more stability and balance. Good idea to angle or rock the feet to add stability when doing standing poses. I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

It would look great painted. I've never seen "What If", but I'd be tempted to get the Hot Toys version. Gives me a "Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot" vibe. Oh.. they screwed up by not making it scale with Cap Carter.. tsk.

Nah they still have safe ways to do it, they have a few glow in the dark Lego pieces now
Also a bit of glow in the dark paint could do that for you

Once I get mine I’m definitely doing a heavy black or brown wash all over the suit and adding the realistic weathering scuff marks
