You brought back so many memories of camping all around Arizona back in the 80's while stationed at Luke AFB. The smell of coffee and bacon on the campfire on a brisk morning. Thank you for that memory boost.
The herd of what you thought were antelope, are elk. They are common in the northwest and southwest. The area you were at was breathtaking! Loved the little cooker unit.

Looks like you drove north of Tucson, through Globe to near Show Low in the Sitgreaves national forest. AZ is great, can go from really hot to really chilly in just a matter of hours.
Cameras, seemingly regardless of type and quality ever seem to do justice to show people how cool the things were when you saw them: The moon. Depth or steepness of cliffs and hills. How truly dark and nasty clouds & weather are. And the sheer magnitude of mountain ranges.
I live in Texas but travel the country with the Vietnam Traveling Wall. One thing I’ve learned if you go to the northwest especially in the mountains even if it’s July or August, carry a jacket and cold weather clothing.
Add some cornstarch. It’ll thicken right up. Won’t change the flavor.

As far as super hot humid weather goes…(I camp with three big standard poodles), and found a product I swear by. Last year I bought myself an ICY BREEZE Platinum , and it was a life saver. It is truly a portable AC, (not a swamp cooler). It runs on Ice with a bit of water added and it actually has a heat exchanger. It blows dry air. So to give ourselves a break on boiling days, we fill it up and enjoy. On hot humid nights it made it possible to sleep comfortably. No regrets buying it. (No this is not a commercial…LOL).
My hot flashes and two new puppies prompted me to buy it. 🙂💕

I used my hot logic all the time for lunch. It’s great for frozen meals. Just stick it in the hot logic box and all if you want. Great for chili con queso.

I use one of those cookers for work occasionally. I do lawn care and leave it in my truck. Mine has a 12v auto plug. Sometimes I bring a small frozen dinner in my lunch bag cooler, it thaws out over the morning and then I toss it in the cooker before lunch, ready in 30-45 minutes! Also great for warming up leftovers like casseroles or sloppy joes. I’ve never had to let it go longer than an hour. Great little thing to have!

I have one of those cookers but mine plugs into the charger port. I would use it for work in my van. I’d plug it in on my break then 2 hrs later my food would be hot when I would go out to have my lunch!!! Mine would go off though after 2 hrs which is fine too. Btw they have like a small toaster oven too that would be perfect for your camping. Every time I see it I think of you!!!

It might help out if you brought a long a heated blanket for those just in case nights. Plug it into your power box.
That’s what I do. I have a 12 volt electric blanket and my 500 watt/hour power supply runs it all night no problem.

Food doesn’t burn. We’ve put chicken tenders in ours a Mac and cheese and potato’s in another one. It’s always done and never burns. We use ours all the time. Cigarette adapter ones for truck and plug in for work. We use both.

The road was pretty awesome going up and down. Yup, you have a great truck, but it's just too bad they don't make them like they used to.
Like everyone else has been saying we love that you have a variety of different types of camping and just getting outdoors.
There is one I do believe you only did once, but I can't remember if it was you or not, but I would love to see backpacking camping where you backpack through the forest and camp I think you should definitely bring the wife or a friend but I bet you would have a ton of fun just getting ready for a backpacking trip is exciting lol 😆.
Of course after you're finished with the trip you are on.

We make homemade pre-frozen meals for camping it's a real-time saver along with easy clean up. The hot plate or small crockpot with liner is the way to go. The diaper they put on the F-150 is a joke. We swapped ours out for a skid plate. Safe travels!

Those HotLogics are very popular with OTR truck drivers. They will basically cook their food while they’re driving. It’s almost impossible to overcook any of your food. You can put raw chicken breast with vegetables or whatever and it’ll be done when you’re done with your drive

Hope someone told you about the flash floods after rain. Gotta make sure you’re not downhill from a mountain. I’ve been trapped before in Death Valley and outside of Gallup New Mexico.
This is where the van would limit your adventure. I appreciate that you do a little bit of all camping from hot tent to van to truck to hammock to the tent on the motorcycle. It is all about getting outdoors, thanks for it all!

I've lived in Arizona all my life and watching you drive up that mtn broight back memories as a kid. My dad could usually drive our car up something like that

Good to see that rig offroad, didn't know about the plactic oil pan and trans. Thats odd, for sure want skids and steel covers. Bought my own steel and had my fabricator install my unnder belly skids (underArmor) plus Dodge has a gas tank skid I installed. Im 80% under armor now however all my truck does is off road other hwy to the off road. Its rigged for off grid 100% dirt. 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 5.7 Hemi with 137k on it. Very upgraded for Off road.

The weather today here where I am in Canada BC and will be for the next few weeks is only high of 55 F. Its been windy rainy just like it's doing in Arizona. Just a really different spring this year. Colder, but love it. Hate heat.
