    Video for real ATC lovers. the way to see how real controllers work at New York Tracon. That sequencing... =O
    Hey real controllers, no matter what facility you work at, any help is welcome to help us continue to develop this radar software.

    I'm not normally a fan of these longer, unedited videos, but this sequencing was just mesmerizing. I could watch this all day. Really wanted to see that go around make it all the way in though

    That Delta 2129 pilot was a cool cat. Nice to fly with pilots that have great attitudes.

    Like the negotiation for inbound speed like they're negotiating the price of a used car! 😅

    As someone who has flown this route many times as a passenger, it was cool to see the sequencing/spacing in real time and the non emergency go around to preserve said spacing ( DAL 2129). Professionals all around.

    Looking at the administration of so many flights in sequence, I am glad that I went for computer support and admin instead of ATC as my main job proficiency in life. I am fairly certain I would not last long with the stress levels some of the ATC work can cause, even though those who perform this kind of work seem to be mostly calm and collected while working. Sure, it is one of those things you could get used to doing if you were going to do it all the time, but at least my line of work does not include the risk of endangering the life of my clients or colleagues.

    If you can get a view of what's going on, all of the major centers are like this. I was outside of ORD in the 1980s and could see 14 aircraft on finals, 7 for each landing runway. Plus at least another six coming in from the north and south to join finals. Looking the other way there was a continuous stream of departing traffic off the crossing runways. I couldn't count them all and had no view of Midway. When I flew out of ORD the next evening on a BA 747 we bolted out between the landing aircraft and I got to look at the streams heading straight for us as we crossed the landing runways. I was at the top of the Oakland hills around 2000 with some friends and we counted 34 aircraft arriving or departing from SJC, SFO, and OAK. The controllers are so rapid, but there's no spare time. The busiest I ever saw was around Superbowl when the 1% were leaving on exec jets from what seemed like every runway inthe area.

    I'd recommend doing a video of O'Hare final. When they're running trips and the final is 30 miles long and they turn base 30 miles over lake Michigan, and consistently nail 3.5 decreasing to 2.7 miles of separation, that's impressive.

    i would love to see this type of detail when an emergency happens, to get a sense of what all has to happen getting EVERYBODY out of the way for an aircraft in trouble. plenty of videos cover the emergency aircraft in situations like that.... i'm curious what it's like for the poor controllers and everyone else in the sky when a complex dance like this gets interrupted.

      @Pants...Emergency aircraft are given priority. Based on their location with reference to the airport they are sequenced in with the traffic flow. We do not scatter all the other aircraft, we maintain an organised orderly flow of traffic. All possible assistance is given to the emergency until the aircraft lands.

      @@VASAviation Yes it’s tricky for atc & pilots bc so many dynamics…proximity to Lga, buildings nearby necessitates a closer faf & steeper approach, spacing behind heavies (esp in imc) makes spacing very difficult plus the wind is usually wreaking havoc on vectors. Oh and usu an ugly edct time/gdp preceded the flight.

    Terrible runway configuration to pick for jfk. The ILS 13L is a last resort approach/runway set up and only used with bad ceilings and almost always comes with terrible winds making minimum separation next to impossible.

      @@icollectstories5702 No, the information on the emergency is passed down to the controller. All required assisting agencies notified, all the controller has to do is sequence the aircraft in., unless the pilot has other requests for controller. Keep the talking to a minimum.

      @@rubenvillanueva8635 There are plenty of recordings on this channel in which this procedure doesn't work so smoothly and *every* controller asks for the same information. Might be in the hand-off from area to terminal control, which, in this case, happened before the recording began.

    • @Flexximilian
      @Flexximilian ปีที่แล้ว

      Souls on board and the nature of the emergency should be communicated from one ATC facility to the next, but there are differences in systems when crossing international or continental borders. In this case, the Approach / TRACON and Area Control (FIR) will have communicated the issue, likely they're even in the same building, radar and IT systems. Fuel remaining is a different thing, as it changes dynamically, especially if the issue is fuel related like a fuel leak, engine failure or emergency fuel situation. Also in the opposite case where an overweight landing is done. Accurate information about fuel and with it weight is needed by the emergency services to assess the fire risk and potential fire scale, and also in case of a catastrophe for the investigations following it. That's why fuel remaining may be asked repeatedly even by the same controller. Lastly, it's of course a vital information also for the controller himself, in his sequence planning.

In fact, because of this channel I've developed the opinion that people in the field of aviation are maybe the nicest people on the planet (although Newfies still give them a good run).
