Let's say goodbye to 2024 with another traditional funny video on VASAviation. Audio recorded at Maui airport during Christmas this year. Happy 2025 you all. Thanks for the support.
This is great, it makes me happy. I also like hearing the pre-departure talk, as a non-pilot this is fascinating. Thanks so much for all your videos, and all of the comments from this year. I have learned so much from you and everyone else out there on your channel. Happy Holiday's, Happy New Year!🎉
I would love to know all of them. B - Bells C - Candy cane D - Dasher E - Eggnog G - Grinch L - Lumps of coal M - Mistletoe If I decide to scan through LiveATC recordings I'll come back and update. :)

That was awesome! So nice to have a bit of cheer if you have to work through the holidays.🎄 And you know they could get serious if needed in a heartbeat. Merry Christmas

Flying under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and not requesting flight following/traffic advisory service. Just taking off and leaving the area with no further need of ATC.
Do they do this only on the departure information channel, or also on the arrival information channel? I could imagine it could be confusing to the pilots. Not so much of a problem on the ground.
Well, it's official on ATIS, so they would be used by everyone until the info changes and the next letter comes up. I think I remember past videos where it would be the Tower and incoming planes doing these exchanges.
@@HeidiKohne Yes I know that. But I wondered if it would only be on Departure ATIS or also on Arrival ATIS. From other comments I understand that it is not usual to have separate ATIS for Departure and Arrival... (here in AMS they do have that)
I do wonder what happens if a pilot does not get the ATIS letter then listens to it 3 times, misses an important ATC call, then gets into an accident...
@@Rob2 but atis is also for arrivals. However, usually you hand over comms to the pilot flying when listening to the ATIS or it's delivered through uplink to the FMS. So not much distraction in my point of view. Maybe a nuisance, but not that it would lead to an incident.
@@halberdier25 Well i fly single pilot IFR, obviously with two radios, I put the 2nd on receive only, so i dont miss calls, but if the 1st frequency is really busy, then this does not work as transmissions on the 1st frequency cut out the 2nd one, so then I have to leave frequency for few seconds to listen to the ATIS fully...

Thanks, Vasa! 🤶🎅 Was waiting for the Maui COAL tradition... 🎉😂 Safe skies for 2025!🎉😅
Happy new year Vasa!

A happy, healthy and safe new year to you, Victor :)
I love this Maui ATIS tradition.
Always!
Is it me or does this lady controller sound like she is having the time of her life with a big smile on her face.
She gets to have fun with the ATIS and live in Hawaii and probably make decent pay!
I would love to know all of them.

Check PHOG for the whole Christmas day and keep us posted. I didn't have time to check the whole cycle
I'm somewhat surprised that nobody says 'Lots of coal'
Happy New Year!

Gratitude to all the crews, controllers, and all the the other staff working on Christmas for all of us.
ATC well done! Such a high stress job….its nice to see a bit of humanity thanks for all you do for aviation👍🏼👍🏼
Oh my God you can hear the smile in that controllers voice. And i love it ❤😂
Friendly 99 sounds nice 😂
A real friendly chap
Friendly sounds friendly
That one pilot wishing Mele Kalikimaka🥰
Victor, thank you, just what we need!
PHOG does this every year, and every year I still love it just as much.
Salute to Maui tower, Merry belated Xmas! 🇺🇸👍🏻
a Lufthansa flying there probably would say: "We have Lima" (stick to the phraseology no matter how grinchy they might seem 😂 😂)
Of course, we must keep the ordnung
First we work, then we joke. You guys like to joke _instead_ of working.
- Henning Wehn, about the British
that is not what they were told to report on firts contact soo i have my doubts
Love your annual Christmas videos Victor! Every time the ATIS was updated I laughed out loud!
Thanks for posting, this just made my day!!! Happy New Year to all.

Thanks, this was nice in a rough week!
Its great to have a bit of positivity in these very sad last few weeks of aviation. ❤
Who would want to egg Nog? He's such a nice Ferengi 🥺
Eeeey I see what you did there
Thanks for all you do. Happy New Year.
With Grinch... imagine that in the cockpit :D
"with bells" :)
I live just up the hill from PHOG and sometimes listen to tower and approach. Never new there was so much to enjoy on clearance delivery 😁
That isn't mistletoe, that's holly!

That time of year I suppose.
So awesome! Mahalo
What is Negative Services @1:58?
Flying under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and not requesting flight following/traffic advisory service. Just taking off and leaving the area with no further need of ATC.
Who else isn't a pilot but has watched enough Mentour Pilot that you actually understand this... or is it just me?
How very FESTIVE.
Happy new year everyone🎉🎉🎉🎉
Does anyone know how ATC knows or determines what SQWAK numbers to assign next?
It's automatically assigned by the machine
Ho ho ho 🎅🏻
Never gets old
When I hear the TREE seven zero, I realize maybe MS Flight Sim 24 isn’t very far off.
From online reviews, you may be saying Bah Humbug
"Tree" is proper pronunciation for "three" in the NATO phonetic alphabet. I agree though, it sounds weird and not everyone uses it.
Runway TREE TREE left
Funny part is "chree" is a common pronunciation for 3 in local kine talk. Won, too, chree, plenny, choke.
I was wondering when lumps of coal would come along again
25 Gusting 36? LUMPS OF COAL seems more accurate than LIMA.
Best ATIS
Glad to see United 1722 properly pronounced "3". Few native English speakers do.
What time?

What does “2 mile offshore” mean?
it means to stay over the ocean, at least two miles away from the coast while en route.
Please make a video about jeju air crash
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A joke I will never get.
Why not?
this happens every year.. why are people still shocked about it?
Mr Grinch in the chat ☺️
It’s nice to see every year :) I look forward to it
None of the pilots seem shocked. None of the commenters seem shocked. Who is shocked?
Ahhhh. I’m shocked!
I think u pilots are just cruel
I do wonder what happens if a pilot does not get the ATIS letter then listens to it 3 times, misses an important ATC call, then gets into an accident...
What was in the video seemed to be only departure information, which they listen to when parked at the gate.

@@r.b.4009 I don't know if that is particular for large(r) airports, but here at EHAM we have different ATIS channels for departure and arrival.
That’s why every pilot in a plane with multiple radios (99% of them) just switches away from monitoring guard to pick up ATIS.
