Hi Coach, Does staying still before the release of ball from bowler's hand make it harder to play spin? I always had a forward press while facing spin but lately, i have a feeling that it makes me commit and lean much forward all the time while I can use a short step to lay the same ball! However, staying still at the time of release helped me make better decisions about how forward or backward should I play the ball. Let me know if there is anything that I can do about it.

What should you do if it is pitched short but stays low and skids on?
I always go back foot and get bowled because i go to play a cross bat shot, then try to change the shot to defense but the ball goes under the bat because I'm on back foot

Unrelated to the video, but I've just started to use my new bat in games, and the ball is making dents in the face - is this normal, or does it just need more knocking in?
Probably need some more knocking in in all honesty, and make sure to roll the edges, that's what I do atleast
