- Walleye fishing in northern Manitoba is quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to spend the day in the boat. A day that started out as an adventure on a new lake learning the layout and what Simonhouse lake is all about turned into putting some quality fish in the boat!!

For those who bash Clayton for exposing prime fishing spots.. I have learnt so much about fish safety and conservation through him. I have passed his lessons on to people I fish with as well. He is creating a web of awareness to protect these fisheries! With this healthy and compassionate approach to fishing we can all enjoy it for generations to come regardless of great fishing spots exposed! Keep it up!!
Why would anybody bash this guy?!?!
Thanks for what you do Clayton showing the ups and downs of fishing. Yes it was a beautiful sun set.
Thank you for watching and following along!
Another quality video. I've been living in Manitoba for 49 yrs and have yet to fish the north.....but with videos like these, the north is certainly calling my name. Thanks Clayton for featuring our awesome Province and fishery on your channel!!
Good to see another video. Way better than Sunday night football.
I agree! I'm pretty much done with all sports!
clayton absolutely love this format and showing everything from your approach and sonar stuff....super helpful super entertaining great job!
These videos make me miss home in the best way. Thank you for the consistent, quality videos!
Do you sharpen hooks? Asking for a friend. Really like your channel!
Great video Clayton! Simonhouse is a super body of water to fish. Thanks for providing the very important information on Aquatic Invasive Species and to get your boat checked at the Watercraft Inspection Station at the beginning of the video. So important to ensure our pristine northern waters remain free of zebra mussels and other AIS.
Again I learn so much in every one of your videos. Define shallow water hump, near deep water...
15-30 foot rock humps close to 30-50 feet of water. :)
Great Vid Clayton. Happy to see you were able to put a few in the net. That burbot you pulled out of the fishes mouth was crazy. Can't say I have ever done that before. As always, thanks for the awesome content.
Truck, boat, and trailer all make for a nice looking rig, Clayton.
You should get some sort of an award for pulling that burbot out of a fishes mouth. What are the odds of that happening? That was a good sized burbot too, I wonder if that was in a pike's mouth?
Another good video, love seeing your videos. Especially since they are Manitoba!
Great video. 3 or 4 fish in my books is a great day on the water. Great looking walleye.
Thank you for watching!
Glad you found a few! That lake can be something special last spring we got on a School and it was lights out 20 over 27in by Noon! Gotta love the north keep up the fire videos!
That sounds like a crazy day!!!
Clayton I would love to come and go laker fishing with you . I know a few tricks but I feel I could learn so much more knowledge fishing with you for a day or two . your so good at what you do.... Like really toads every episode.
It just appears I know what I am doing :) I'm just like everyone else, I just take my time and try to figure things out. Sometimes I get help along the way and sometimes I do it on my own, but I am no different than anyone else. I also get really lucky sometimes :) oh I also get unlucky a lot too! haha Cheers man! Thank you for the kind words!
13:34 That half burbot was crazy... must be a really big fish.
Thanks Clayton.
Thank you for watching!
Grew up in The Pas Manitoba, if you want some good walleye fishing, go to elbow lake off of the cranberries or yawning stone, portage from Cowan Bay (cormorant lake) You should put Lynn Lake Manitoba on your bucket list to fish as well, vander, little brightsand and dunphy lakes have absolutely nice sized fish.
Great fall fishing video of Simonhouse Lake Clayton! Simonhouse Narrows in the spring time has a lot of fishing pressure on it but I rarely hear of many local fishers going out into Simonhouse for summer and fall fishing trips. I am curious as to the lake trout sizes found within Simonhouse. I look forward to seeing that video.
Thank you!! That is the combo I use for almost all of my fishing and I see most others use it too but Al Linder said to always use mono but I think he is just trying to sell mono.hehe
HAH!! They both work I am sure :)
Quality video again clayton. I love this type of video. I have learned tons about walleye fishing from you.
I love the grind then the reward!!
That is exactly what it was that day :)
Hitting Wekusko for walleye and pike tomorrow. Great primer video Clayton 😉
Sweet! Good luck to you!
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors well we tried Reed instead for lakers. Trolled, jigged, tried every type of lure. Nothing but a smallish pike each. But hey, a day on the water is ALWAYS good!
They were cleaning boats at Madge lake all last summer and they had a boat check stop at churchbridge pretty much all season too. The more checks the better in my opinion
Yes, I have seen them clean at Madge before, you are right!
Clayton with another awesome video! Thanks for the content, it's amazing! Too bad it wasn't Lac Du Bonnet walleyes! Id have a place for you to stay 😁
Digging that camo hat
i don't think we have boat cleaning stations here in Ontario. I think Manitoba is very smart in trying to reduce the spread!!
Great video Clayton!!
Some more nice walleyes
They sure were!
Qqqq
Got skunked tonight on a local lake, but this video made me feel better 😀
Oh man! I get skunked too! Happens to us all!
Really enjoyed this video, thanks! Such a great area to visit. I've been too spooked to run the narrows and have launched at the beach in the park, which is a bit of a production. I was thinking I should get a kicker for the lakes around cranberry portage, but I see you don't run one, so I'm wondering, what sorts of precautions do you take tackling new & rocky water such as those narrows?
I spy a new truck...nice my man!
"If I don't win it's clearly rigged" If only some others that say that were kidding. As usual, great content Clayton. I've been through that area before but always went past it to Amisk. Probably should stay in Manitoba sometime.
HAH!! Such a good area! I recommend it highly!
That regurgitated burbot was bigger than most of my walleye I catch. But in the other hand I am with you in not keeping the big fish. 'keepers' to me are 15-18", they taste so much better too.
i totally agree about limiting yourself to the size of fish you keep i try to only keep walleyes between 14-18 inches unless one is hooked badly and wont make it.
Selective harvest is a great way to do it too! I should have mentioned that :)
Great video friend
Thank you for watching!! Cheers!
Come to Lake Erie!
Did u get a different truck? That is a beast!
Ya... I got it at the start of July :) I have been liking it for sure!
Nice
great video as always! the northern lakes in saskatchewan and manitoba seem to be so beautiful and the fishing seems good too ;) iv only ever fished one lake in my life but i want to try and get up north sometime this winter any lakes not to far north you would recommend for ice fishing for walleye (in saskatchewan).?
I honestly don't have much experience in Northern SK for ice fishing. The nice thing about Manitoba is the nice highways all the way to the lodges :)
I new I saw the at4 logo earlier this year i got the 1500 last year to and love it that 2500 would be a tank
She is a big truck :)
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors you want to hear a good one my ice fishing sled is still in my box under my cover its so useful
When you are sharpshooting, do you use the spot lock on your trolling motor or just try to maintain your position with your engine? As always awesome video
Gotta be one of my favourite lakes to walleye fish. Lots of trophy’s In that water. Only issue is that it’s a bit of a drive from saskatoon lol.
Long drive but so worth it!
New truck? Calling for lots of snow this winter, that should help out.
New this year yup :)
Clayton, another great informative video. Are you using braided line when vertically jigging those raps?
Yes, I am using a 20lb power pro super slick, with a 15lb flouro leader :)
How about a trail camera update or bow hunting video soon!
Deal!! I am up north still, when I get home I will get going on the hunting side too :)
Can't wait! I am jacked for season
Fingers crossed
Do you fish the jigging rap with braid or mono?
Braid with a fluoro leader
Its kinda hard to expose the North in my opinion if you don’t know there’s good fishing farther north you live under a rock. Sweet video looking forward to the rest of trip!
Agree 100% Cheers man!
what happened to your talon?
Wish people would handle the fish better and release the big ones but some people are just careless and keep the big ones don’t think they understand turning the big ones back to keep the walleye population up
Always have to take care of the fish, as long as people try to make a conscious effort that makes me happy.
Drop the 7 foot rod and jig a little less than a foot each stroke.
I think I know what I am doing :). But I always appreciate other knowledge.
I catch bigger Canadian wild walleyes at Costco 5 minutes down the road without any fishing tackle
Pahanin no one cares.
Meanwhile im still stuck at ganglers and the boats are all winterized..... DURING SHALLOW LAKER SEASON 😭😭😭
NOOOO!!! get a boat out!
33:33 Clayton is confirmed illuminati.
shhhhh ;)
Must be great to live in a country with a real leader.
I'm thinking this message was meant for a different country than Canada? lol
Be glad you don't live in a country with an orange ape in charge.
😂😂😂
I’ve been ripping jigging raps for the last month, nothing but one 5” walleye. Dropped on stacks of fish and nothing.... I’ll drop or cast a blade or a ripping rap into the fish, they’ll eat that but not the jigging rap....
Every lake and every day can be different for sure :)
I greet Clayton, fishing, as always, is interesting and informative. I wanted to ask, are you a professional angler or an amateur? You have a very serious technique (a car and a boat). In Russia, to move on this, you need to sell a kidney :)
..I hope you are not tired of my comments yet !?
Evgeniy.
first haha
more editing clayton. good content but cut out much of the chatter. friendly advice. 👍
I’ll keep that in mind.
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors Keep the chatter nothing wrong with it.
