MrSoeberg me myself i am often at the Airbases in the Netherlands. Volkel Leeuwarden and also at Gilze Rijen. this Video is from my Home country. i am also of course on the German Airbases like these and other in Germany and the other Countries i like it.
Loud? Incredibly loud at a few hundred feet overhead on afterburner with a full load of ordinance. I was in charge of a detail of soldiers at the end of a runway during Desert Storm. Normal hearing protection carried by troops did nothing to lower the level of noise. Is it any wonder that it was a one day assignment endured by unlucky soldiers.
I got a question? I've watched plenty of videos of the Tornado and they all do the same thing before take off. Is there a reason why the pilots sit there and throttle up the engines for a period of time before releasing the breaks?
The first throttle up before runway holding line is to check if engines are ok ,if they deliver max power, second with afterburner before brake release is for short takeoff.
