Both ass and jackass mean donkey in English, although they are somewhat archaic and thus you would usually hear donkey instead. Also, you can't say 'are you coming with" correctly in english because you can't end a sentance with a preposition in english. However, in spoken english we do this all the time. Zum beispiel: Who is that present for? Where are you going to? For whom is that present? sounds very awkward in english. Where are you going? this is the correct way to say this
An ass is a donkey, a male is a Jack ass, a female is a Jennie. Are you coming with, is used, as is but it's not proper without a subject, with me, with the cat, etc.
One thing that has helped me is looking up words in another language i know. I am studying German from English, but I find English to use very general words for things. Spanish is my mother language and just like in German there are specific words for different situations. So when I find myself running into the issue where a translator spits out the same English words for different translated German words, I switch it to Spanish. Works for me.

I'm going to jusy say it - "I have my days" is absolutely not a "very common expression" in American English. Try googling it while putting it in quotes. You won't find many examples of it. I've heard it maybe once in my life. What does it mean? "I'm good at this on some days"? "I'm sad sometimes"? Also, for clarity, are yo also suggesting that people regularly refer to donkeys as asses in the English you speak? Lol. Only a prankster would refer to a donkey as an ass in conversation, lmao. Alan F Smith that’s funny I’m a native speaker also from MD. Born in Frederick! “I have my days” is a common response to the question “How ya been?” “Oh, I have my days.” And the word ass literally is a donkey. It didn’t come to mean “butt” or “unpleasant person” till the 1930’s or so.
Alan F Smith just to clarify, the expression “I have my days” means something very different from having ones period in English. It’s a common response to the question “How have you been?” And it means “sometimes good, sometimes bad.”

Hi Anja, I'm a native English speaker in my own right since I'm born and raised in San Francisco (USA). In my part of my birth country, most people won't say "are you coming with" alone. "Are you coming along" or just simply "are you coming" are used instead. But we can say "are you coming with [me, us, our group/team/squad, etc.]".

While using google translate (the entire page), on the bottom right corner there's a table which provides alternative meaning of the word and also mentions how frequently its used.
I haven't used this dictionaires before but for me Dictionary Pons is the best tool I've used for translating texts and for unknown words because it always give several examples on how that word can be used.

It usually just something that you say after someone you haven't seen in a while has asked you if you have been holding up well after you've lost someone and then you just tell them," you know what? for the most part I am holding up, but I have my days." Meaning there are just some days that you break down and aren't doing so good. Or vice versa. You can also use that reference to I have my days meaning I do have some good days.

I disagree. I very rarely hear people say in English, "Are you coming with?" Not only is this sentence rarely said, it would also be considered poor grammar. "Kommst du mit?" would best be translated as "Are you coming along?"

Addendum: We LOVE dangling prepositions at the ends of sentences in spoken English, you probably noticed. I have not seen this in Deutsch. Can it be done? I have read it can he done in Dansk, aber mein Dansk is sehr wenig.

Ich bekommte ein Bachelor's Diplom auf Deutsch (mit Französischen Nebenfach) vor mehr als 30 Jahren von der Universität von Ohio State und habe etwas vergessen und möchte mein Deutsch wieder verbessern! Vor sechs Jahren habe ich Spanisch selbst gelernt weil meine ex-Frau aus Peru ist und ich wollte Spanisch auch lernen weil ich auch bei einer deutschen Firma arbeite, die "subsidiaries" in Mexico hat
Ich benutze viele verschiedene Ressourcen, aber am liebsten: 1. Linguee (es ist ähnlich wie Context Reverso, aber es bietet ein aktuelles Wörterbuch auch, mit englische Übersetzungen) 2. GoogleÜbersetzer (selbsverständlich, für Kontext und die Momente, in denen ich zu faul bin, die ganze Grammatik meines Satzes zu überprufen) 3. Duden (für die Momente, in denen ich so enthusiastisch bin, dass ich bereit dazu bin, die Begriffe auf Deutsch zu lesen. Mm, und es bietet viele Informationen, die ich kann nirgends finden) 4. Ger-Eng Dictionary auf Android, das ein schnellen Zugriff zu Konjugationsregeln gewährt. (Vertrau mir, sobald es wird sich als nützlich erweisen).
Zufällig benutze ich oft alle 3 von denen, und ReversoContext ziemlich selten. Ich würde sagen, DeepL ist das klugste, besonders wenn es sich um übermäßig komplizierte (und vielleicht auch veraltete) Sätze, Ausdrücke, und Redewendungen handelt. Vielen Dank! Kleiner Tipp: ihr könnt oft benutzte Browser Tabs anheften. Small tip: you can pin browser tabs that are used often.

I toggle between deep L, google translate, and word reference and I am adding more to my list (I just started learning German 2 months ago) it’s frustrating when each website gives a different answer, it makes it hard to trust what you’re learning is correct. But I know if I work hard enough to figure it out then I will :)
You wouldn't say "are you coming with". it is an incomplete sentence. You would say "would you like to come? (with me/us)" or more colloquially "do you fancy coming (with me/us)?
"Are you coming with?". This is technically an incorrect translation however English speakers will say exactly that depending on how a person chooses to say things. You would usually say it if you were asking "Are you coming with [me]? I think it is more of an American term but people here in England may also say it.

Deepl.com is my favorite. They claim as better than google translate, and I fully agree. It is able to translate even complex sentences, plus, on the bottom is giving more other examples. Excellent one.

"Wanna come with?" is a cool / hip way of saying "You wanna come with me?" It takes the emotions out of it by removing "me".

As a native English speaker, you could really just say "coming with?" with a bit of inflection and it makes sense just fine.

I find Reverso more useful for dictionary and verb conjugation.
Für Verben, benutze ich sowohl www.verbformen.com als auch mein Taschenwörterbuch, und für die Übersetzung, benutze ich DeppL meistens.

"Come with" ist Regionalumgangsprache im Midwest glaube ich. Als ich in Michigan wohnte habe ich so was oft gehört.

4. Ger-Eng Dictionary auf Android, das ein schnellen Zugriff zu Konjugationsregeln gewährt. (Vertrau mir, sobald es wird sich als nützlich erweisen).
Zufällig benutze ich oft alle 3 von denen, und ReversoContext ziemlich selten. Ich würde sagen, DeepL ist das klugste, besonders wenn es sich um übermäßig komplizierte (und vielleicht auch veraltete) Sätze, Ausdrücke, und Redewendungen handelt. Vielen Dank!

In South African English we always say 'come with' - it's pretty standard here. Although it could sound slightly unusual in other places.

"Are you coming with?" is more regional and a bit slangy, but it works.
Ich benutze am liebstens Reverso. Aber manchmal benutze ich auch Pons, denn es gibt mir die Bedeutung in meiner Sprache.

I toggle between deep L, google translate, and word reference and I am adding more to my list (I just started learning German 2 months ago) it’s frustrating when each website gives a different answer, it makes it hard to trust what you’re learning is correct. But I know if I work hard enough to figure it out then I will :)

You wouldn't say "are you coming with". it is an incomplete sentence. You would say "would you like to come? (with me/us)" or more colloquially "do you fancy coming (with me/us)?

"Are you coming with?". This is technically an incorrect translation however English speakers will say exactly that depending on how a person chooses to say things. You would usually say it if you were asking "Are you coming with [me]? I think it is more of an American term but people here in England may also say it.

Was eine Ihrer Fragen betrifft, habe ich herausgefunden dass man im Mittelwest ( in den USA) "do you come with?" sagen könne, das ist die wörtliche übersetzung von "Kommst du mit?" Man vermutet, es ist der Einfluss vom Deutschen aufgrund des Faktes dass viele Amerikaner mit deutschen Vorfahren in dieser Region leben.

Deepl.com is my favorite. They claim as better than google translate, and I fully agree.
It is able to translate even complex sentences, plus, on the bottom is giving more other examples.
