Invisible sprinting is really helpful in avoiding encounters. My vampire character routinely nopes her way through dungeons to do Mage's Guild and Undaunted daily quests.
In pvp I found the 8% ability cost increase way worse than the increased fire damage. The fire damage means you just have to avoid coldfire seige and magdks, and is itself mitigated by the undeath passive, but the ability cost increase is always with you. So I'd be tempted to pick imperial for vamp, if I wasn't so much of an altmer simp.
All my 11 characters are vampires, I don't care about meta, its simply too much fun for me. I'm even in two guilds full of vampires haha The Blood is the Life!
My main thieving toon is a khajiit stage 4 vampire. When I get caught by guards I run full speed, go invisible, circle around, and continue to get my loot.
I use equipment enchantments to help with fire damage, also CP points. Mesmerize is good to use on the NPCs that don't want to talk to you because of your vampire stage. I have a high elf Dragon Knight and wood elf Night Blade as vampires. Using companions as healer also helps when you take damage
For pvp it's almost a must due to the fact that ZoS refuses to make dmg mitigation multiplicative but instead leaves it additive in sub categories making 100% dmg mitigation possible in certain situations thus giving birth to that "unkillable" pvp builds. Id be lying if i said i don't abuse this additive mitigation stacking but if you don't in pvp you are at a huge disadvantage
Its an odd double edged sword in my opinion. If you are using sustain food, absolutely. If youre using max resource food you best be living on tri pot potions. 😂 The lack of resources is so painful. You will be super tanky until you run out of resources.
It’s kind of made for the hybrids now. They’ve made vampires to be the dagger using stealthy guys, maybe throw on an ice staff to go with the whole “undead use Ice Magic” trope, and you have multiple resources to block with or weapons to regain resources with. If you’re even trying to “be” a vampire instead of just using the 30% free resist with some added fire and fighters guild damage that doesn’t come up super often.
In Gold Road patch Undeath became multiplicative, as far as I know. So now it is less mitigation, then it was before. Yet still it is a huge 30%, damn it.
I had to give some coin. Thank you for giving a clear explanation for the vampire use for pve. I knew about pvp but the pve things were unclear unless you play NB. I check your weekend vendor update every week. You got DAd jokes lol. Just a little thanks.
Vamp is mandatory in PvP and nice to have if you want to skip overland stuff etc. (due to the invisibility sprint) that is all, other than that.. it's trash, that includes the experience of feeling like a vampire, performance aside.
I've was a vampire until I screwed myself and took it off in the armory by accident. Not because of Twilight or that route. I've never seen a single episode. I used to be in Second Life (SL) and was a vampire there. I'm not sure about going back BUT as a gag. I turned my 2nd into a werewolf. He is a Khajiit. I thought it would be funny for a cat to become a dog. lol
nightblades have a nice Syphon ability for leeching health so health regen is not required that much only bad stacke is Ability costs for Vampire and is only 12% more
I have been playing a Nord DK Vamp Tank and paying ESO Plus since 2019. It was hard enough to get back into tanking after getting flipped off massively by Zenimax with the Greymoor Update, but now with Update 43 nerfing Undeath, Vampire Tanking is fundamentally broken. That's it, i'm cancelling my subscription. Zenimax is more concerned with hamfisting diversity and representation into the DLCs than keeping experienced and loyal players in game.
@@deathsky5737 This will definitely contribute further to tank shortage, since everyone who liked playing a Vamp Tank will now stop to queue for vet trials
Hi Jake would you be able to make a video for the vampire build your using in this video. Or a build you’d recommend running as a vampire, looking for a pvp vampire build?
I am still a werewolf on my original character, i don't even use that so much these days. After that experience i figured being a vampire was as boring so i never bothered.
Well if it is anything like trying to get a warewolf bite (From an NPC Warewolf) for over a week with NO luck , then don’t bother seeing as the Devs basically want you to pay for it. It’s not about just becoming a warewolf , it’s the quest I want to complete, without having to ask other players for a bite. I sure in 2024 all the Ware Wolf NPCs have been removed.
I had Vampire Characters but cured them except for one i didn’t think the others suited it the current one i got i started on him couple months ago he’s a Dark Elf Vampire Nightblade and his build is pretty sick so far still need to work on him but will do that when i’m ready 👍🏾 i admit i never really got into the Vampire back than but times change
yeah.. for RP thief character.. any nightblade khajit or else.. Vampire is an asset for thieving of COURSE.. make a build in Armory for Vampire just for that and other DPS Tank Healer builds in Armory yes like he said ^^
Years of playing and I could just save an uncursed version on my clean slate armory slot lmao. Also if anyone on PCNA need a bite, I give one out for free every weekend if anyone needs 😉
I've been on the fence about going the vampire route...i wouod love to be more tanky in pvp, and to be invisible while running around in general. But the lack of recovery & skill costs tends to repel me...maybe I'll try it one day. Thanks Jake for covering this topic!
Most of my PvP vamp builds do great in Infinite archive as well. Syvarra’s Scale/Cold Harbors fav is such an awesome combo for equipment. I should do a build video on it haha. Absolutely love it on my DK
would vampirism go well with Necromancer? Im experimenting with an orc with more of a stam build. I think it would be cool thematically but I dont know if I would be handicapping myself too much.
Я бы все таки немного усилил ультимативную способность в морфе на пятую стадию вампиризма. Она должна работать большее количество времени, хотя бы 30-35 секунд
Hi first new subscriber & quite a funny joke lol now I’d like to know is it possible to feed on someone when you’ve only got the first vampire skill I’m on the series x comment is from 2024 any help wauld be appreciated thanks in advance
I noticed near the beginning of the video the prompt for feeding was the same for using the db blade of woe kill prompt... Would becoming a vampire interfere with that? Ive been tempted to turn my assassin argonian into a vamp but i dont wanna give up blade of woe.
The prompts are distance related afaik; you have to be closer for the blade of woe, whereas vamp feed prompt pops up further away from the target. You do need to pay attention to the prompt though, to make sure the game is giving you the one you want. But both are defo compatible.
No. It has to be one OR the other. HOWEVER: You can be bitten with vampirism and save that build at the Armory station free in your home or the Build Assistant NPCs (Crown Store). You then get cured and then get bitten with Lycanthropy and save that to a SEPARATE build. You will not have them both at once but in this way you can swap between them.
I think I did the vampire thing in Oblivion. Experimented a tiny bit with it in Skyrim. Haven't yet tried it in ESO but I have a khajiit nightblade that I will probably try it on sometime soon-ish. Good video with lots of helpful info! Maybe one for werewolves would be useful?

Sounds like dark elf is the best race for vamp with its fire resists

Been a vampire for more than 10 years, so long, nobody actually had the ability to bit people to give them the disorder.
So back then did people just have to farm vampire mobs and hope to catch it?

If you do any PvP at all then it's a resounding yes.
theres only 2 reasons to really be a vampire
1) aesthetics and niche playstyle
2) undeath passive in PVP at stage 3
And with how many mobs these gold road quests have - sprint sneak
