- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 19 ม.ค. 2025
- Happy New Year again @everyone and welcome back to the channel as we explore the Ahead of the Curve 28 day officer sourcing mechanic that Star Trek Fleet Command introduced at the end of 2024. In this video you'll find a calculator (via Google sheets) to track the events yourself, a list of the events that qualify, and my general thoughts to the structure of the event itself. Do you like it?
Topics covered:
1. Participation! Quick shout to the numbers of who completed this in December
2. MATH! How to complete the event and how it works
3. Changes I would make to the overall structure
4. If you have any game mechanic questions, feel free to drop those questions in the comments!

The spreadsheet is a bit unintuitive to use. It took a bit to even find the appropriate counter portion and even then it feels off. This isn't to say that the spreadsheet isn't useful, it just feels "raw" and unpolished. There is just a lot of noise in it and distracting from the useful info.
I saw this and didn't know what it was really about but just went on with the arc and some how ended up making that first milestone. But that's about it. It does look like it's worth it but with all the work involve, I rather have the option of being able to choose my officer. You do all that work and RNG spits out the officer you least wanted would be just soul crushing.
ya i 100% agree use the format like with the free epic we got like with the treasury convert all 4k and you get the key to pick epic of your choice not RNG
It would of been a better investment if they allow the player to choose the officer they needed rather than another roll of the dice sort of thing
If they did that then the RNG code that factors in what you already have unlocked or close to unlock couldn't be used and they couldn't make it more like that you get something you already have or make it less likely to get what you don't have yet.
@@nickm9102 ?
That makes no sense and isn't the point. Players value different officers in different ways. Why shouldn't players get to pick after 28 days of investing in their account?
Thanks Rev for the content and especially the calculator
A timely video, thank you! "Ahead of the Curve" still feels a heavy investment and needlessly complex. Why not just have a fraction of the admiral's event tickets in each daily. I nearly always ignore the mats spend events because of the other spend events that happen, like spending on the heroic officer events that have happened several times a month.
Rolling over the currency is SUPER IMPORTANT, I'm glad they did this. The 6000 cap on the currency is a bit harsh, but I'm guessing this is because they'll be rotating the officers available.
They found with things like the 7 and 30 day chests that people are willing to hold on to currencies until they see something that they want with mechanics like Admiral's recruit. The Irony is that someone is going to get the 6000, and if they don't want any of the options wait until the next one in the hope that they will want someone there and that they can game the cool down timer for a double pull on one event cycle.
@@nickm9102 Yeah, with a 28 day cooldown, one could likely double pull if they save up and pull 1 on the first day and work their butt off for the second pull later.
I got to two steps in December (1500 tokens) and I play A LOT. I can't imagine getting all 6k in one month.
I did it. Took a lot of time and advancing all the buildings and the research needed for the buildings (and some more). More research will be opened, and just select one until you run out of rss foe that arm, then go to another branch, then repeat many times.
Ops 40 completed fairly easy FTP. But i already claimed mine however would be nice to pick the officer you want instead of it being randomly selected.
Thanks!
Hey Rev, I think that completing each event should give the rewards and not that you have to make a milestone to get rewards. This last event I had 8200 points and needed 8300 points to get the 3rd teir or 1500 admiral tickets. So I was 1 event short of getting the 1500 additional... and that sucked! I wish the Tickets just dropped with each event. Complete event, get 50 tickets or whatever. Then once you get enough to get an officer, click it. You could have 1 choice of random that costs normal or go premium where you need 20% more and you pick the officer of your choice. Guess I'm not sure why we need the extra step of an additional even just to get the reward for the thing we're doing... I also just hit lvl 40 and that hurt trying to get the points as many events were harder as I was a new 40 and killing xindi and such was far harder then the events at 39...
1. the verity of Daily events needs to increase. Need some recruite & officer upgrade options
2. the milestones for some of the levels are rediculus (look at OPS 42)
3. The rewards for individual events need to be meaningful ... don't look at the big completion (the epic) ... the issue is the lack of value in the Daily & SLBs
4. This makes the off ARC events even worse ... and that's why 60+% is way too high
5. just hord the end curreancy until they release a good set of officers -- -- - Marvel SNAP has this stupid issue with their Spotlight Catches, which has really hurt that game.
At first I was mad about not completing the event at first, but then when I found out the tickets roll over I am ok with it because then i don't feel like my time was completely wasted.
Ty for the video and LLAP Rev Deuce!
Your awesome dude and awesome video you rock be safe out there
I finished it largely following this strategy - my biggest tip would be keep Tech Tuesday in mind. If you are like me, you are probably bumping along at 3 q trials per day and you generally do them with other dailies at a similar time each day. Make the effort to save up the Q trial daily so you can do it just before and after reset or you are in for a lot of hostile grinding.
That's a really good point, thanks for sharing!
PS - I say just before and after because it suits my schedule - there are 12 hour windows that you have to match accordingly. It's a minor thing but it is a change in a daily routine for many of us.
An alternate/supplement to this is sit ships in Augment/Texas/hostile space overnight for XP grind and scoring as a 2 for 1.
I like this event, and I completed it (along with the power increase one for the 2nd Q arc), but I went from Ops 42 to Ops 45 and am already an outlier player. I definitely agree it would be better to make this more accessible to F2P and lower engagement players - they're the ones who will benefit the most from the officers (and the selection could definitely be improved) and keeping friends, rivals, and allies about is the beating heart of the game. If I could have dropped my shards on some of my less-online alliance-mates, I'd have definitely done that. I like the satisfaction of completing it, and I know they would love to have some of the NX-01 officers.
My view of the mat spend events has changed a little. I avoided them quickly at first but I'm running out of material spend buildings and research as I get deeper into ops 49 so have opted to do them over the SMS spend events. I'm trusting I won't have FOMO over a potential must have epic officer in future months 😂
I have done it. You need not to be afraid. Just advance all buildings, and spend spme ;atinum. Winning daily events daily, You will get out of time, then you willbe given more times, then youn run out of time. With the killing and the rss you get material to upgrade ships. Some bildings require research, then do all needed research, You will have an incredible amount of rss to do so, all from the same game. I went from lvl43 to lvl 50 in a short period of time. Thsi started with the new format of the game. I enyoyed every part of it, bu looking at all the players from my alliance I passed not a single one took advanytage of theis event.
Thanks deuce.
I don’t like the rng of getting 1 of 6 equally worthless to me officers and nothing else for 2 months’ work (I was only able to get half of the way this month with daily participation).
We should get to pick our officer instead of a random pull. I also agree that the completion should be reduced or fewer of the spent events.
I hit 50 thousand milestones on daily quests. Got to learn about the weekly quests and understand the spreadsheet. If I knew more about the special quest weekly quest there would be more of an overflow. I am at lvl 21 for a lvl 18 on dayly quest. I got to learn more about questing as I am almost stuck.
I wasn't actively trying to complete this event. I completed the events I wanted to complete. If they happen to score for the event great, if not, did not make a difference. Of the officers available, I already unlocked the ones I care about. Now that you have explained the event, I may try a little harder this month.
I went up from lvl 43 to lvl 50 during the pass arc. It was very worth and it was free. The event just balances itself.
I won the last one by accident. Then I got the trip shards. Probably the most useful of the bunch.
Well, with OPS 35 I'm probably one of the 1%. As a reward of the way the dices rolled, I've received the chards for Pike. I've completed the ahead of the curve event literally in the last second by scoring 1st in a leaderboard. To achive the required amounts of events, I had to spend heavily into building, reseach and upgrading ships. At the start of the event I was at OPS 31 ready to go to OPS 32, but I never estimated to finish at OPS 35. At least, the event tokens were sufficient to get a Borg Cube, getting the other half of the Voyager blueprints and with the new Clean the Coast getting the Defiant too. So, for the reward I pushed hard and accellerated my progress significantly. I have my doubts it will happen this season too.
It is safe to say that even if you could you would not want to until you get more of the new research done and speaking as someone who makes it a point to speed up research as soon as I get the max alliance helps I go through at least 3 a day. Four Ops levels of research is not likely to be completed in a month without spending.
@@nickm9102 I was lucky with the tresory chest in December, I've got 3Mio Latinum. This and the rewards from the events provided sufficient for the research, buildings and ship updates. I'm now camping for a while on OPS 35, until I've got my first epic G3 faction ship and made some progress in the Bajorian faction, the update of the Voyager and the Defiant. The sprint towards OPS 35 was not planned, more or less enticed by the events and the chance of getting the Admirals Officer Recruit. There's a reason why just 1% of players below OPS 40 finished the Ahead of the Curve event, From my experience it required a massive amount of resources and gaming time. I can't afford this all the time, but luckily in this season.
I love the Ahead of the Curve concept but would want the following tweaks:
1. If it's all-or-nothing... LET US CHOOSE THE OFFICER WE WANT. If you're going to have us do a full month of complete engagement then give us the choice. Otherwise reduce the completion requirements.
2. Improve the daily rewards
But I do appreciate the attempt at a change as it encourages consistent growth of accounts; this past month I've done so much more for my account than the previous year combined because there was more incentive.
Huge improvement to the game - but it could be even better with those couple of tweaks. I was one of the 7% of players who completed the first run of AotC.
I do want to stress that the new daily’s are quite good. I am the 2nd strongest 46 on 41 and I couldn’t complete Ahead of the curve. If we could get less spend ship parts and materials it would get more people to complete. Really need the spend officer recruit tokens to come back. Especially if 😉 they would put some rare ship parts in the officer spend. Or rare ship parts as rewards with the tickets would be great.
There has to be some challenge and strategy for the game. The biggest change I would like to see is more variety in new daily events. Why not an officer upgrade event, iso mining, research event that isn't mat based same with ship event that is not parts or mats. A simple power increase event. Heck a daily event where you have to complete missions, there are so many options the new ones are getting tedious and boring.
How do you calculate a research or ship event that isn't spend?
I do research daily and over 4/5 of my fleet is Ops locked or maxed tier and XP. If you count the 4 envoys that I built to mine during incursion I have 11 ships that are not at max XP. Right now I am focusing on one ship at a time for parts with the Pilum being my focus until I get the prints for my Ops 50 ships. Then I will go to ops 50 and build those three.
@nickm9102 research could be power gained or how many where done. Ships could be xp spent or gained from hostiles
@nickm9102 Also most players are not me or you,
@@greenhatparts6552 they have used options like this for SLBs usually as the secondary scoring mechanics to the primary method of scoring
@@nickm9102 you have me curious what ops and power are you!
I got lucky with Phlox with my pull and got it done with 5 days left.
I think the event is fine. I only got half a pull last month but I am not really changing my playstyle or chasing it. So when I get enough for a pull, great. It wont be every month but I'm ok with that.
for all that work you should be able to pick the one you want you could do all that work and get a one you really dont want it should be like they did for that free epic thats my only gripe with it and the points are way to high
First off, ur doin to much my guy! That spread sheet took some time❤! Now for why im here, how often do the “ahead of the curve” officers rotate? Like more often than once every 28 days so there’s a reason to hold ur 6k or they rotate once a month
This is still new so we don't have a set timeline. The overlords have "hinted" at it changing every quarter. (4 times a year)
What the heck happened with the New Years event?
The countdown showed that there was a day left to complete it, but it disappeared at the reset 🤷♂️
They gave a free gift for compensation, about an hr ago.
Hey Rev, where do u possibly think Gwen Damarco will be added ?
Material spending SMS is bad as it could be, so nobody doing that afaik. Wish they could remove/replace at least some of spending sms events with old fashion "power gain" and add ultra recruit tokens that was there, I would be happy if they do that.
A 28 day cooldown when you have to take a month and are limited to 6000 credits is absolutely pointless.
Also slb spend ranking only 1st or 2nd and only giving 100 or 200 points is absurd. If you spend to achieve top 2, and only get the equivalent of one or two sms completions is equally absurd.
Also as a separate point as an ops 50, there is zero benefit in any of rhe current faction recruit token as all are maxed. And the elite ones have very few additional decent ones
Thx Rev.
You're welcome!
I would have preferred a choice, but at least the officers in the box didn't suck. That's something.
I didn't mind the events but I worry about the longevity unless they plan for it to be like treasury and you only get so many f2p completions a year. I wish we could pick our officer as most of them in the current list are old metal that don't have value anymore.
Well think about it, since it looks like they are using the same currency each run they likely expect most to only get milestone 1 or 2. If you get milestone 1 you get a pull a year like Treasury. If you get milestone 2 consistently you get 4 per year. Milestone 3 means 6 per year and completion is 12 a year. The big thing is will a bean counter sat that is too good or will it get pulled because too many complain about payouts if that happens then you will likely be stuck with another dead currency if you didn't complete.
I like the idea of the event.
I don't like the rewards.
PIC officers are useless to me, Trip and Archer I've used for the now obsolete content (Xindi and Voyager), so I just need the Phloxx - which the RNG won't probably give me 😉😂
So I wasn't trying to complete it, yet I was able to get 3000 currency (even with being 4 days off completely). I'm ops 56.
i cant do the xindi one on both my accounts and i cant be bothered with the voyager one on my alt those dailys and weeklys still need alot of work and remove mats off build and research and research and change it to points instead and have the mats one as a slb format
Doing good in it so for, well even if they are muh they still have levels which means I can up grade the mess , so it's all good
I finished it last month, but I'd rather see 1500 loot at each milestone and then have a chest cost 1500 with a 7-day cooldown. Still full pull over the month, but you get partial credit for partial work.
Or you save the points just like a Treasury and use them when you reach 6000.
That way consistent milestone completion leads to 1, 4, 6, or 12 officer pulls a year.
The best thing they could do, retain the currency from run to run while running it each month.
I'm pretty sure the swarm events don't count either, not just Cosmic cleanup. I completed every weekly SMS (minus final weapon), all Pinacle, most (80+%) of the Parts/Build SMS and 50% of the FC SMS and only just barely completed because I got lucky and finished first 2 weeks in the Mining Monday SLB.
What ops level do I need to be in order to get this? I'm not seeing it on Ops 18.
I completed it, like the event but i don't like that i can't choose the officer.
I usually buy the Battle Pass. I got the officer SYMBIOSIS. Is he any good?
I mean Toli.
I don't bother trying to do the slb's. I'm doing AotC like I do the treasury. Collect and spend when you have enough.
This is a good event concept that could be made great with a task reduction. Otherwise many players will see that point completion goal number and say no thanks.
Before I could save my mats and skip slb if I didn't like the monthly officer
Still can but then you will be limited to one person year like free Treasury.
im guessing its for 15 and above
When are they rotating the Admiral's Officer recruit chest? I got the 6k in the first month, but I don't really want to spend it on any of those officers.
The earliest they've hinted at was closer to the 2nd Quarter, which would still be a couple months away. I don't have a rough date. If you're already at 6K I'd go ahead and pull. Worst thing that happens is you complete this AotC and have another set waiting.
@@RevDeuce I did the pull and got PIC Riker. Maybe you could do a video on how to use those officers one day cause they seem useless to me right now.
They're honestly just for away teams.
so may alliance has now score 625k tournament points but the game leader board says 155k
I finished ahead of the curve. Ops 60. I did not earn any credit from slb's.
Nice job romelo!
I missed the event store what's the chance they give me something for the 200+k currency i wasted
They will happily give you a "sorry 'bout ya" letter if you contact support.
NSEA is nice and all, but 39 and under can't do those, which is 1'200 points less a month already. And the new score needed now is 11'800 points, not 10'900 points anymore (compared to December 2024).
The reality is that they want it to be an unlabeled spend event. Considering that 7% completed. And the VIPs are less than 1% of the players. Too many people made it without spending so... time to correct that. They are likely expecting only milestone 1 or 2 for completion so you get 1-3 pulls a year.
@@nickm9102 So the currency can carry over to the next month? Well, then it's like the treasury, but maybe a bit more frequently. Maybe every other month then.
The change to daily events sucks. I ended up 300 points short of completing this meta sms. I did every single daily mine and grind event. I have hundreds of thousands of faction recruit cards saved up that are now worthless. My fleet commanders are all already maxed for my ops. I did two of the artifact sms but that wasn’t enough to finish the meta. Scopely screwed this up.
This is impossible to complete in G6 if you're not a big spender so far. It really needs a tweat for ftp/lower spend players but is a great idea
They don't want completion. This way it is 1,3,6 officers a year and not 12
I do not like “ahead of the curve”. It’s not worth the effort for meh officers. RNG will assure you get the most worthless officer. Skipping this.
That is why you just complete what you normally would and take the lower milestone payouts that will accumulate over the year and use them when you get them.
Yeah i git pic picard…
i got 3000 tickets from december. So now that I have 3000 am I now cursed to have to pull the chest in the middle of the month so i dont go over 6000? lol.
I finished it on the last day. Then i got trip which was.. ok
The store disappeared to quickly for the pick your officer spend event. All the clicks for notta
Just when discord is on fire. Please tell the overlords to properly compensate the New Year Celebration event rewards for all of thus that were gonna do our last missions/milestones today!
They've already announced a comp is going out!
@@RevDeuce A comp that is TINY compared to what many were denied from completing!
I thought i finished every free to playable event, minus SLBs, yet didnt complete the meta.
Ops49
I believe that. At Ops 48 I had been sitting on everything for several lvls and during December I completed every first daily and 3/4 of the second daily slots I even got a few daily SLBs and all the non daily events that counted. I barely completed with my last available event.
My understanding is 70% of events completed it and I know that I did more than that but it was still a last minute completion.
If you just removed the Pic officers it would make the reward much better
I don't make any effort to complete it. The daily events drain my resources hurting my chances in arc events. 👎Agree the rng will be the worst officer.
This event has a steep goal if the intention is F2P completion.
It is acceptable as long as they retain the currency from run to run and they run the event each month.
This is horrible to complete. I like the idea. I hope this video will help me to get this done
Too many SLBs are used in this event.
F2P Lvl 37 here, I really don't like the new SMS-Dailies/Ahead... something, it's a waste of rss, mats, speed-ups & parts just to drain people and force them to spend. This thing will last one or two months more and it will be revealed as a total failure. Players will ditch this "Ahead" events system and be drowning in all kinds of recruit tokens, mats, ship parts, rss, etc. That will cause "inflation" in Scopely's rewards events and a lot of anger in the player base. They are causing their own troubles.
This does not seem worth it to me. If you could choose the officer, and they were a bit better, I could see it
the game is heavily bugged and lagging, to much daily grind needed, daily rewards takes up to an hour to claim, that's crazy.
The new daily's are just spend events now. I used to speed up research or buildings to complete events for the rewards now I never do either, Its just an uncommon/rare mat theft. The monthly spend event are just more critical than the weak officers they offer here.
I don’t think ahead of the curve is horrible but it’s meh. It’s nothing something I actively went after. Way too much math and tracking point status, noo thank you.
Month long grind for a random officer is crap
I worked really hard to get this event done last month, spent more in time and materials than I would have wanted. Then I find out here that it's a monthly repeating event? No, not interested. What happened to quality over quantity Scopely? The return for me as a f2p is just not good enough as it stands.
1st
This feels like an attempt to get more players to spend more time/money and pay out less, I am not a fan, and at least for the moment I'm just ignoring this event.
it sucks
