I'm a guitarist/not a good drummer but tapping poly rhythms out always involves shutting down my brain more than focus. Accessing the back of your head. I see the primal rhythm in this mans manifesting so naturally
5 over 4 plus 3 over 2 and onward had me in my seat while my jaw continued to fall to the ground. I'm a bassist and I recently bought the book Polyrhythms by Peter Magadini. I want to say that the book is vague but I have been studying out of it and it has helped so far because I understand your patterns. Thank you for this upload :D...Keep up the amazing work!
Ah, so all this time I've just been a polyrhythm savant. And here I thought I just had no sense of time or limb independence. Jokes aside, this is beyond incredible. I don't know why TH-cam waited a decade to share this with me.
in the 6 5 4 3 polyrhythm you can start to notice the pattern in polyrhythms which becomes more evident in the 8 7 6 5 polyrhythm in that its just a glissando but more complex and my brain hurts trying to play it
I think most people that learn polyrhythms learn them as relative to each other (and a combined rhythm), rather than 2, 3, 4... separate rhythms they are counting separately. For example, some drummer could listen to a polyrhythm being played (such as here), copy it, play it, and not really know what they are playing (perhaps they just thought it was a cool pattern). I am an "old school" drummer but not currently active in drumming.
I think it is the quality of the recording - I still like playing the LP Jam Blocks, because they sound good and they are easy to handle. But thank you anyway, Témoin. Best, Wolfram
@@polyrhythmist Now for a minute I was torn between reacting right away, or in 8 years from now. But here I am, and this video still blows my mind! Thanks for uploading!

hahahahaha

I‘m glad that you can hear it like you do - I try to play pulses, not patterns. Best regards, Wolfram
That’s it! NO MIND! Only FEEL.
I feel this way as well, the more I think about it - the less I can do it.
@@polyrhythmist whats the difference
this is actually one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.
That‘s a really wonderful comment - thank you for this! Best regards, Wolfram
This guy has 4 brains, one for his left leg, one for his right leg, one for his left arm, and one for his right arm.
You forgot the elephant in the room - the one in his head!
And another brain to control those four
AND TOGETHER, PEGASUS, I SUMMON EXODIAAAAAAA
May be this guy has no brain at all, brains would prevent him from letting his body and nerves and spirit do their job freely.
At 8 bars I thought it was going "still D.R.E.". Incredible job
This guy will never suffer from dementia.
I hope so! :-) Best, Wolfram
Toward the end I had to stop my mind from expecting "Still D.R.E."
Amazing, can’t imagine how much practice this takes

Oh my god, I've been stuck trying to feel the 4 in 4:5 and when you kicked into 5 it just made absolute sense.
