The 10 things to do BEFORE meditation. Swami Ashokanandaji's instructions on the DO's before meditation PROBABLY in the order of priority.
    1. Regularity ie DON"T even lose one day.
    2. One time. Maintain the time. Early morning - Brahma Mahurta or during dusk or even during noon or at midnight
    3. Place - a room or even a corner of a room. Or a meditation mat ie an Aasana.
    4. Don't struggle with negative thought rather Concentrate on the positive thoughts. Mind can hold onto only one thought so make active associations to positives.
    5. Association - avoid wrong associations eg trashy shows or praise and criticism.
    6. Practice of asceticism ie make life simplified.
    7. Sit with complete detachment - no husband wife mother father child and completely alone
    8. Yearning for God.
    9. Connect to god (NOT do immoral thing and connect it to God)
10.Ever meet and hear about God from a Brahmanishtha ie the words of a holy person.

    1. Get into a habit
    2. Fix a Time
    3. Fix a Place
    4. Don’t control your thoughts
    5. Shun unholy Company
    6. Simplify your life
    7. Detach from your world
    8. Yearn for god
    9. Connect to god
    10. Seek holy company

Swami Sarvapriyananda, what a gift you are to this manifestation.
Maybe others will agree-somewhat unlike many other teachers, something about the Swami always felt so... natural, simple, friendly, 'down to earth' as one says. Not a single sign that he felt 'elevated' over others. A true teacher aiming at one service: to get rid of ignorance through knowledge. He pursues this 'goal' simply, one-focusedly, but also in a way that makes you feel at home. Almost like it is a course for 'children'. Never speaking too high, never mystifying, explaining every step. And, something about this approach makes him feel the opposite of an 'elder' or authority or 'sage'. He comes across, in other words, as youthful, inquisitive, delighted...
That is why, in this video, it got me for the first time how beautiful he himself is. Perhaps because he is seated and not wearing his skull cap. Everything is otherwise the same, but I see some grey hair. An older face.
I only say this in recognition of that beauty. I sense he made a very conscious choice to be as normal as he could appear, ensuring his listeners feel exactly at his level. But, for a flash, I could see in him the realization level he would never flaunt or display. I saw the old man he will grow into and it was very beautiful.
I look forward to years, decades I hope, of his teachings filling this world. As he ages in appearance, although this is only appearance, it will be even clearer that he is a guru for us, in a digital age. He has understood something in the spiritual evolution of efficient means.
I rejoice of the appearance of a 'wise old man' for our time.
Thank you Swami. Brahman is with you and with us.

I am very fond of swamiji's lecture as they are mind blowing. I am in Vipasana meditation for the last ten years doing one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening religiously on full lotus pose. These ten points are of great help for a good meditation. Buddha was thorough with Patanjali yoga sutra and went up to 8th jana. Buddha wanted even ordinary people should do meditation for their betterment and the world too. So he did R&D and simplified the technique. I am a changed person with less temper, no longing, more compassion, focussed in my job as a risk engineer. I believe a lot of good things have taken place after initiation in to meditation. I love to give, helpful, sharing info, grateful to everyone and always feeling that others should meditate and obtain great benefits. So I always talk about meditation to known as well as to unknown people and tried to help them to get in to meditation (yai passico - come & see). I am an US citizen and live in SCA for the last 20 years but my heart is very much with Bharath Mata. I send money to India to organizations like Ramakrishna Mission annually. I felt that for many years Bharath Mata being illtreated by unscrupulous corrupted politicians. After NaMo's election, like millions all over the world, I feel that Bharath Mata is in safe hands and I become Modi Bhakt. Everyday, I spent a lot of time reading different stories in face book etc. That is a great distraction for me and my meditation is slowed down. Swamiji's this lecture has helped me to take a decision to stay away from these to maintain good company. I would visit the Monastery near Irvine with in few weeks.

I am completely intrigued my Swami Sarvapriyananda because he is explaining everything in a way that I can understand what the Sutras truly mean. Thank you for your all the examples you give which brings light to our true self and to life in general. My biggest gratitude to you and those you make it possible for me to watch this on You Tube.

So much practical with inspiring connecting stories. Meditating is like placing oneself inside a mosquito net, ensuring there is no tear in the net and it is securely tucked, so that the buzzing mind is kept outside.

Swami Sarvapriyananda lectures are par excellence. The clarity of sound recordings in U.S. is far superior. In India the sound recording clarity is not of that standard. In spiritual lectures of the level of Sarpriyanandaji this quality aspect has its own importance so I think.

Swamiji,'s lectures on vedanta are inspirational. I am trying to listen the various lectures as much as I can find on youtube. The easy Language he uses to simplify the intricate teachings in Upanishads is very convincing. I pray to God, someday he may give me an opportunity to meet Swamiji in person so I can bow down my head on his feet.

Meditation thoughts I meditate upon. I is the "SELF"I am Brahman. I am Sat Chit Ananda. I am the Witness Consciousness. I am the Sakshi. I illumine the mind. The mind lends the consciousness to The sense organs. The sense organs send the consciousnessUp to the tips of the fingers. I Feel the Consciousnessin my whole body.
I am Existence. I am Consciousness. I am Bliss. In me every thing emanates. In me every thing merges back.I am Sat Chit Ananda. I am God. I am Brahman. I am That I am.I am That I am.

Meditation & concentration are different. Meditation means witnessing the mind( thoughts, feelings ,desires)as witness conciousness (sakshi or drishta bhav). Concentration means focusing your attention on a fixed goal . Concentration is short term purpose oriented . Meditation is living in present , there by embracing the result( efforts, skills may be improved , honed ).
