"He does something to the feminine spirit" - so well put! I've read where people often say "Prince is the only guy who can wear heels and eyeliner and walk away with your girl." I don't know what it is - a comfort with gender fluidity, a quiet inner confidence without machoism, power with vulnerability and free-flowing passion, emotion and playful flirtation without needing to prove anything. . .but he is captivating, alluring, mystical and definitely frees the spirit!
Prince passed away April 21, 2016. He had a long 40yr very diverse musical career. The song he wrote (one of many) that was covered by Chaka Khan was "I feel for you" from his sophomore self titled album 'Prince' from 1979. April 21, 2016. One of the saddest days in music history. He is literally the only artist I cried for when he died. His catalog of music is endless. But one of his later songs released in 2014, called Breakdown, is one of the most personal/ raw Prince songs ever. It really moves me every time I hear it. You should really give it a listen. RIP Prince. There will never be another like you. 💜
I don't care if you was into Prince or not everyone still heard about his death.. You know sometime Jordan upset me with his lack of knowledge.. it's not always cute sometimes it's down right disrespectful.
I was on my way to meet a friend for breakfast. I had to pull over because I couldn’t see the road anymore because of the tears. I was truly shaken. I even called my husband to tell him.
@Lawrence Jacobs Jordon, Jay who cares but it's not about crying it's about knowing of the man's death. I didn't say anything about crying? Lawrence Hilton Jacobs now that's funny haven a name of a celebrity😀😁
Gotta check out the Prince collection! "Let's go crazy", "Purple rain", "Little red corvette", "Kiss", Raspberry beret", "While my guitar gently weeps"
Omg, While My Guitar Gently Weeps!!! Tom Petty was my first musical love, George Harrison was my favorite Beatle and I adore Steve Winwood, Dhani, Jeff Lynn, and everyone else in that jam, but once Prince steps on stage, it's like everybody else just kinda dissolves into the awesomeness that is His Royal Badditude!!! ☔👑🎸💜
Prince was actually considered to be by many people as a musical genius. He wrote songs, he performed songs, he was said to capable of playing like 20 different instruments. He was truly gifted with musical talent.
Prince did this song in the early 80s. It was not about the Y2K thing. It was just about having a wild party like no other. Of course, when 1999 rolled up, this song got a lot of air play.
Technically it wasn't about Y2K the phenomenon we know but it is still about the year 2000 as it was predicted in many civilizations as to be the end of time. It was about enjoying life and partying as if it's your last days.
Indeed, 1999 seemed like it would be a party year (actually it was for me!), and 2000 seemed like the future - but when January 1st 2000 rolled around, it was just another ordinary day 🙂
Prince was a genius, arguably the best musician of the last 50 years, black excellence. When he passed in 2016, all the major monuments in the world were lit up in purple in memory of this amazing man.
Yes. You gotta do Let's Go Crazy for the next Prince reaction. Jay you really like to hear that good guitar. Prince himself goes off just a bit on that song.
Prince wrote a lot of songs for other artists including: The Bangles, Celine Dion, Sinead O'Connor, Alicia Keys, Chaka Khan, Stevie Nicks and Madonna just to name a few. He was beyond a singer, he was a true artist. He had more talent in his little finger than most " artists " have today. RIP the purple one.
Came here to say this but I'm a little late. He wrote so many songs for others that he never intended to record himself. He's definitely one of the best songwriters, best guitarists, and best performers of the 20th century (and beyond).
Prince did the best guitar solo I have ever seen at the George Harrison tribute. Tom Petty singing, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison's son is also in the band and Prince comes out and plays a solo that is just incredible. The song is "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
@@maryannturton9830 Really? You didn't know?? Prince gave it to The Family, one of his bands first. Their version is good, then Sinead and that was a battle that I thought everyone knew about and then Prince took it back and there are at least 3 versions of him doing it THE BEST!
2016 was a very sad year for the loss of musical icons. Starting with the passing of David Bowie in January through to George Michael on Christmas Day. Others to pass were Prince, Earth Wind & Fire's leader, Maurice White, Nat King Cole's daughter, Natalie, ska/reggae legend Prince Buster, The Beatles producer George Martin, Leonard Cohen, Glen Frey of Eagles (never put the word The in front of it), Status Quo's Rick Parfitt, Pete Burns, who was Dead Or Alive, soul legend, Billy Paul, Leon Russell, and the writer of most of Thriller and Heatwave founder Rod Temperton. Surely one of the most incredible years for the loss of leading musicians.
Oh my...Leon Russell, the Master of Space and Time. He was a beautiful piano player, wrote lyrics that were heartbreaking and was a great performer as well.
@@matthewdean7653 I know this is an old video and comment, but I saw Leon Russell in concert with Elton John in 2010. It was AMAZING. At one point, they were both playing piano together onstage.
Great Prince story - Stevie Nicks wrote her song "Stand Back," inspired by Prince's "Little Red Corvette." She told Prince about it and asked him to meet her at the studio. He did, and performed some amazing improv work on the synthesizer. It still sounds fabulous.
Prince, was the GOAT! You all ought to check out his early years too. He played almost every instrument you find in a band. Check out, "Wanna be your Lover," and Controversy. Also, the song was pre Y2K and actually came out in 1982, which was followed by Purple Rain. The band that backed him on this album as well as Purple Rain was the Revolution. In the 90s he started another backing band called the New Power Generation, and it would be worth it to listen to Diamonds and Pearls. Also check out a song that he sings with Scottish singer Sheena Easton, which you should also check her out as a solo artist as well, but their song together is "You've got the Look." And in regards to Michael Jackson and him making a song together, they actually had a rivalry. At one point Michael Jackson Wanted Prince to be in his video for the song "Bad," Prince turned it down, because he couldn't see himself playing the guy in the video where Michael Jackson sings, "Your butt is Mine." Lol
so glad I scanned the comments before saying anything about the Prince and MJ thing.... I yelled NO at the screen when Amber asked. LOL I would love to see them react to DMSR or Wanna Be Your Lover, Erotic City is a bit much to ask of them I think. He wrote so much music for so many other artists, many under pen names
Watch a tribute to George Harrison, "Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others " While My Guitar Gently Weeps" Prince kills it. One of the greatest guitar solos.
HE WAS THE SHOCKMASTER,JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT HE WAS DONE HE CAME UP WITH THINGS ,GEORGE HARRISON TRIBUTE ,HE BECAME THE SHOW PETTY JUST FREAKED AMAZED AT HIS GIANT TALENT,.PURE GENIUS!!!!
One of my most painful times was the day prince passed away l never cried for no one outside my Dad when he passed l still miss this cool ass katt to this day and no one understands to be avid prince fan for 40 years lve road this ride since my uncle who was a DJ back in 1977 we had a garage party shot out to old school garage parties anyway the first song of prince l wanna be your lover and he played all 29 instruments on that album and his concerts were just simply amazing l have almost all his albums with the exception of 4 and someone stole them prince has so much music and nothing sounds tha same prince had a famous line in let’s pretend we’re married song and it goes Whatever you heard about me it’s true l changed the rules to do what l want to lm in love with God he’s my only way cause you and l know we got to die some day if lm crazy you probably right but lm gonna have fun every mutha fuckin night if you like to fight your a double drag fool lm going to another life how about you this is what l loved about prince l love this channel keep bumping prince he has so much music a 100 years worth
I was 12, almost 13 when this song came out. Later through high school this song was played at every dance and we all thought that 1999 was soooo far away. I remember thinking "I'll turn 30 in December of 1999" and how old that was going to be. Ah, youth! Loved Prince then and love him now!
Same! I turned 30 in 1999 and thought back when this came out in the 80s that New Year’s Eve would be epic. Pretty sure I was faking a ball drop for my pre-school kiddos at 9 p.m. that year!
Prince catalog is enormous. When he died he left a huge vault full of music. Prince is not a pop artist he did rock, funk, pop, ballads etc. Prince was music. You must listen to his ballads. Adore, I hate U, diamonds and pearls and many others. He also wrote several award winning songs for other artist. He is the GOAT.
An absolute virtuoso. He was undervalued and underappreciated. He could play 27 instruments and completed his first album alone at 20. He did all instruments, vocals, recordings and production.
Prince is everything! Those eyes and that devilish little smile of his, gets me every time! His outfits were amazing and I wanted them all! Please react to Nothing Compares to you (the live version with Rosie Gaines) as well as Diamonds and Pearls, Raspberry Beret, Kiss and Cream. All great songs. I saw in in concert 3 times. The man never disappointed.
His concerts were otherworldly, I too saw him live 3 times and each time was AMAZING!!! I can’t wait till they react to a live song of his. There is nothing better than live Prince music, once they dive into that music they will understand what all the Prince hype is about.💜
Through The Firre was written by David Foster Tom Keane and Cynthia Weil. Prince did sign her to his record label NPG Records in 1998 and only released one album called Come 2 My House.
I saw Chaka Khan open for Prince in concert. Prince was generous enough to upstage his own concert by joining Chaka for her set for an “I Feel for You” duet. He emerged from a small stage in the middle of the crowd, shocking everyone at Madison Square Garden.
Prince wrote "I Feel For You" and it appeared on his self-titled album in 1979. Five years later Chaka Khan recorded it and had a huge hit which I believe you've heard. A couple of years ago the Prince estate released an acoustic demo and it's fantastic. You can look it up in search.
Thieves in the Temple is a very underrated Prince song. A DEFINITE banger - and the video is incredible. He has the most off the chart dance moves. A MUST watch.
loved this song i remember taping it from the radio and spending a couple of hours rewinding and trying to get all the words down...and i didn't even know who sang it...years later found out...very underated
This song was genius. He knew the century was going to turn during his lifetime and he knew no matter when he released this song New Year’s Eve 1999 it would come back with a vengeance. Not to mention how fun this song was an L it was fun to dance to and sing along with. I love this song, thanks for reacting.
My first concert was Prince's 1999 tour in 1983. Prince was a virtuoso. His Purple Highness was beyond amazing; he was sublime! He blended gender identity and expression and made it palatable and (good) funky simultaneously for mainstream.
2016 was the year that too many of our favorite musicians and LEGENDS passed away. David Bowie. Glenn Frey (from The Eagles), Prince, Leon Russell, and George Michael.
Raspberry Beret is one of his most catchy toons, such an 80s vibe a trip down memory lane even if your 1st didn't happen like the song. Great images. Always makes me happy.

You've actually reacted to a number of songs that Prince wrote for other people. They include "Manic Monday" (The Bangles) and "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Sinead O'Connor). Next Stops: Prince, "Raspberry Beret" Morris Day and the Time, "Jungle Love" Terrence Trent D'Arby, "Wishing Well"
I love you guys, but amber never reacts to any black female singers or black female groups. And I don't know why?? 😕 there are alot of black female groups and black female solo artist you haven't reacted to. And I don't understand why?? I think you should start reacting to more black female solo artists and groups. You need to react to 'vanity', Karen white, pebbles, klymax, Mary Jane girls, the jets, five star, Vanessa Williams. I hope you start reacting to more black female artists in the near future.
Prince wrote "Nothing compares 2 U" for Sinead O'Connor, "When you were mine" for Cyndi Lauper, "Manic Monday" for The Bangles, and about ten others. Love you guys, 😘 PJ
He wrote Nothing Compares 2 U and When You Were Mine for himself and those other performers covered them. Sinead outdid him on Nothing Compares 2 U but his version of When You Were Mine is way better imo.
His "Delirious" and "Take Me With You" are next for you!! He was a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor. A musical genius.
Prince is one of the absolute wonders of music. Y’all have got to do some of his live performances. They will blow your mind. I’m a rocker but this dude shreds. Absolutely amazing guitar player., singer, writer, performer. One of the best to EVER do it. Tribute to George Harrison Prince absolutely killed it. I mean killed it DEAD!!!!!
The summer this album came out, I played it non-stop, to the point my dad threatened to take the cassette away lol. Great song choice, and great reaction as always - peace and love to the family!
I remember walking home from highschool in my freshmen year and some nerdy classmate was driving his beater car and I waved him down to bum a ride home. I got in the car and he played this song on full blast. It was the first time I heard the song and I suddenly thought the nerdy guy was cool.
There needs to be a "Love" button. Prince was the best !! I love this tune and everything he touched was gold to me. Thank you for this one. Merry Christmas !!
This was the only song by Prince my grandmother liked. I remember that. My grandmother thought Prince was too racy. But when she heard this song...she wanted us to play it over and over.
My department had to work on New Year's Eve, 1999. We closed down our phones early, blasted this song and broke out the sparkling cider, food and confetti!! My best friend and I then proceeded to run around the whole building singing this and just making noise!! It was a very rowdy office that day! By the way, Prince gave so many breaks to female artists of the day. Lisa Lisa, Sheila E and one of my favorite artists, Nik West!
The album "Sign 'O' the Times" is absolutely amazing! Spin the wheel and pick a song, you can't go wrong! With that being said,.. "Starfish and Coffee", "Adore", "If I was Your Girlfriend", "I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" and "Hot Thing" are just samples of how creative and talented he truly was.
When Prince passed, me and my girlfriends went to the nearest sports bar and loaded up the jukebox with nothing but Prince. Tribute to our youth and the irresistible/unreplacable Prince.
If I recall correctly, Eric Clapton was asked what it felt like to be the greatest living guitarist and he replied “I don’t know; you’d have to ask Prince.”
Prince died less than 5 years ago.You have to do(While my guitar gently weeps) with Prince a tribute to George Harrison ( Beatles).Prince stole the show and knew it as he walked off the stage.
A true artist/genius, Prince wrote, sang, played and produced EVERY genre of music. Hoping you do "Lets Go Crazy" and "Baby Im a Star" next. One of Prince's greatest live performances occurred during the Super Bowl XLI halftime show.
Love Prince. One of the more underrated song of his is 'Batdance'. You want to talk of tempo changes and pivots, and 4 songs in 1, then look no further. It was the soundtrack for the 1989 Batman movie which was iconic in those days. You would probably be the first to react to this song and/or video !
Samples were found in songs long before they came to Princes music but when he added them to Batdance they were treated as music and they flowed like no one had ever done before. He did something totally new, they were no longer adlibs, they were notes.
Prince was an absolute musical genius. My husband and I met at the local dance bar in October of 1982. When this song was released we would dance our butts off. Our first date was a Prince concert! He was phenomenal. The bands The Time and Vanity 6 opened for him and they were great, as well. Thirty eight years later, we have two daughters and seven grandkids.
Prince also wrote "I Feel For You" for Chaka, a huge hit for her. Prince did quite a bit of work with Chaka. They became good friends. BTW Chaka's ENTIRE library is exceptional.
My favorite Prince song was always "Let's Go Crazy." Y'all should definitely check that one out. And if you want to see Prince shirtless, dancing a lot (in heels, of course), being uptempo seductive, and showing off his falsetto, try the music video for "Kiss." BONUS: Tom Jones also does a cover of "Kiss," so you could do a double reaction!
I remember when “When Doves Cry” started reaching stupid levels of radio airplay back in the early ‘80’s. Back then it was very unique and an unusual candidate for monster hit status. When a conversation with a friend turned to the topic of that song, his initial comment was, “I don’t know if the dude’s just plain weird or a freakin genius”. I’m sure that friend eventually settled on the latter assessment. While Michael Jackson never collaborated with Prince, MJ did work with another superstar on ‘Thriller’ - Sir Paul McCartney on “Ebony and Ivory”. While it’s been pointed out by other commenters that we lost Prince due to a prescription drug overdose, there was a good reason for that prescription. For years he had been jumping off of tall stacks of speakers onto the stage (in high heels no less) during his concerts. As a result, his legs were pretty much trashed and he suffered chronic pain. The prescription he OD’ed on was for painkillers. Everyone these days knows how addictive and deadly modern painkillers can be. Still tragic though. Lastly, the song “1999” was weirdly prescient, considering it was released in 1982. The premise was that the world was going to end in the year 2000. Back in ‘82, the big worry was nuclear war. The Y2K threat wasn’t even a concern for at least the next 15 years, yet that was the biggest worry when the year 2000 started to loom large. Everyone thought planes would fall out of the sky, trains would all derail and civilization as we knew it would grind to a halt, all because all the computer systems in the world would crash because they couldn’t deal with a year number beyond 1999. So, in a way, Prince was right to worry about “party over, outta time” when we hit 2000, it was just about a different worry.
That same prescription painkiller, Fentanyl, also killed Tom Petty a year later. Also it was killing about 50,000 people a year for a while. The "opioid crisis" you've heard talked about.
Prince sadly passed away 4-21-16. SAD day. I was up all night and never bothered to even turn my lights on. PLEASE check out his first 4 albums. You will be able to see his constant evolving music. He is truly sex on a plate. To the point that he was being censored by radio stations. His first hit was named Soft n wet. Prince is so much MORE than the Purple Rain era that so many only know of him. 💜💜💜💜
I am 55 years old and I saw Prince perform when I was in college. He was amazing. Though I never completely stopped listening to him, my musical tastes grew and life kind got in the way. A marriage and two kids later, my Mom asked what I wanted for my birthday. I really didn't know. I told her I couldn't think of anything, so how about some Prince tickets? I honestly don't know where that idea came from. So, we arrive at the venue, and the first thing they tell us is that Prince wants everyone moved down into empty seats. So, we go from 3rd level to 1st level. Then, Chaka Khan is the opener! What a show. I am so glad I had that moment, because we lost him all too soon. There will never be another quite like Prince.
Probably, one of the most overlooked, underappreciated, & best examples of the quintessential Prince is his "Mountains" (from the soundtrack to the 1986 film, Under The Cherry Moon) original video.
OMG I swear, Rob squad wouldnt be the same without Amber. She is absolutely adorable!!! Its so fun watching her fall in love with those that we grew up with...
You need to listen to Prince- While my guitar gently weeps. It’s a song written by The Beatles member George Harrison and the best version of it ever is the live version with Tom Petty and Prince. Some great musicians all standing around marveling at Prince absolutely destroying his solo, it’s incredible!
That live version also included ELO's Jeff Lynne, George Harrison's son Dhani and Steve Winwood. It is from the Rock And Roll HOF induction ceremony for George. I believe Prince was also inducted that day.
I think they have already heard (While my guitar gently weeps). I think it was on interviewer's TH-cam channel. I'm not 100% but around 95%. Nice suggestions.
Hey guys! Good to see this song getting some love. Other Prince songs you may want to check out are "SIGN O' THE TIMES" and "KISS". Also, give a listen to artists associated with him. Morris Day and the Time "JUNGLE LOVE", and drummer Sheila E. "THE GLAMOROUS LIFE" and "LOVE BAZAAR".
Jungle Love's basically Prince - then he just took off his voice and replaced it with Morris Day. There's a lot of those out there ;) He actually wrote a song for Kenny Rogers called "You're My Love". Also composed Martika's "Love...Thy Will Be Done". And if you haven't heard Sinéad O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" - the spelling of the title is a dead giveaway that it was written by the Purple One ;p
When this came out in the early 80's every time this song played everyone had their own thoughts of what it's gonna be like to party in 1999...fast forward...I'm 63 now and would still like to party like it's 1999 because I know what it was like...Ironic huh?
We got into Prince with "Controversy," the album before this one, when we were in college. Saw him get booed off the stage on the Rolling Stones' 1981 tour; a lot booing were likely big fans a year later.
This song was written at the tail end of the Cold War when there was a lot of anxiety about the possibility of nuclear war. The idea that the world could actually end any day leant itself to the idea that we might as well just live like there will be no tomorrow. Other songs that have a similar theme are "I hope the Russians love their children too" by Sting and Land of Confusion by Genesis.
As a metal guitarist I had the chance to see the artist in concert, I had told my band mate's that I was thinking of blowing the show off, my band mate's we're very convincing in the fact I would be the biggest moron on the planet if I did, during the show I was mesmerized by prince, having seen him doing what he did in a live situation, being a victim of an industrial accident I'm aware of what incredible pain is on a daily basis, prince put so much into his live performance that it's certainly not beyond my thoughts on how much pain he must have been suffering from, as for the concert, it's probably in my top 3 alongside Led Zeppelin and some one else, haha, I'll mention it again, you really should check out Band Maid, I'm confident that you will love them.
Prince wrote many songs among others "Nothing Compares 2 U". But he was also a top level guitar player, and many of the fans loved that about his concerts.
The fact that I was alive when this song came out and was old enough to know it was a huge hit and to love prince and be a teenager then and then to be able to sing it at every New Year’s Eve party in 1999 going into Y2K is kind of awesome
How did you not know he passed lol. Literally cities lit up in purple when this man passed. And Prince wrote I Feel For You for Chaka. And here's the amazing thing. No one was talking about Y2K when this was released in 1982. Prince was ahead of everybody's time. Ya gotta love him💜💜💜
This song was a hit in 1983 when I was a teenager, and 1999 seemed such a long way away.
I was a mother of younger children when it was released and 1999 seemed forever away
Yes
People from the 60’s to the 80’s always talked about “ the year 2000”
Sooo true, I was 8, when that came out
Yes...1999 has passed and gone! I remember listening to this at Y2K...years passed so fast!

The very first Prince song I heard was “I Wanna Be Your Lover” back in 1978. It’s still one of my favorite songs by him.
Same here., 1979 for me.
It's one of my favs as well!
Here in Australia was Controversy in 1981 first Prince song i heard
My first Prince song was "Soft and Wet" in 1978.
Mine as well and been a fan since then
Prince was a genius, arguably the best musician of the last 50 years, black excellence. When he passed in 2016, all the major monuments in the world were lit up in purple in memory of this amazing man.
Not black excellence. Human excellence.
And his legacy is enormous when you think about how many songs (most of which were huge hits) he had written for others.
@@johnsambo9379 male excellence, obvs
Good selection guys. Yiu definitely need to add Prince's "Let's Go Crazy." It's a banger.
Yes..." Let's Go Crazy"
@@davidbagno already there ;)
yes the extended version
Yes. You gotta do Let's Go Crazy for the next Prince reaction. Jay you really like to hear that good guitar. Prince himself goes off just a bit on that song.
My favorite Prince song!
Facts this comment!
His Royal BADNESS!!
RIP
RIP
Came here to say this but I'm a little late. He wrote so many songs for others that he never intended to record himself. He's definitely one of the best songwriters, best guitarists, and best performers of the 20th century (and beyond).
In an interview Prince was asked why he wore eyeliner and high heels. His answer "Because women love them."
Welp
Prince did the best guitar solo I have ever seen at the George Harrison tribute. Tom Petty singing, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison's son is also in the band and Prince comes out and plays a solo that is just incredible. The song is "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
I wish they would react to that performance. 🔥🔥❤️
Thankful for you're tip @Greg Greg, I'm gonna check that now
Prince wrote ‘Nothing Compares to You’ that was sung by Sinead O’Conner. Who you guys reacted to and loved the song. 🧡

The whole 1999 album is 🔥. It was released in 1982 as a double album.
Those we're all my dad's favorite singer's,my Dad passed away just four days after Prince died
@@elegantgypsyrose5328 Leon Russel is amazing! I love his cover A Hard Rains a Gonna Fall

Amazing how larger than life onstage Prince is....and he was only 5'2".....incredible... big Prince fan.. RIP.
Great Prince story - Stevie Nicks wrote her song "Stand Back," inspired by Prince's "Little Red Corvette." She told Prince about it and asked him to meet her at the studio. He did, and performed some amazing improv work on the synthesizer. It still sounds fabulous.
I was born in 1971. I've always said the greatest total musician of my generation - singer, guitarist, dancer, songwriter -- was Prince, hands down.
Me too! His death just rocked me. I cried for days
We were born in the BEST year my friend
And producer, plus he played many instruments besides the guitar.
Yes, 1971 here as well (Gen X), I agree Prince is the best of our generation. He is my favorite American recording artist, by a wide margin.
Born in 1971 myself. I agree.
I love Diamonds and Pearls!
so glad I scanned the comments before saying anything about the Prince and MJ thing.... I yelled NO at the screen when Amber asked. I was 12, almost 13 when this song came out. Later through high school this song was played at every dance and we all thought that 1999 was soooo far away. I remember thinking "I'll turn 30 in December of 1999" and how old that was going to be. Ah, youth! Loved Prince then and love him now!
You've pretty much just described me exactly.
About the same! I turned 30 in early 2000.
Same! I turned 30 in 1999 and thought back when this came out in the 80s that New Year’s Eve would be epic. Pretty sure I was faking a ball drop for my pre-school kiddos at 9 p.m. that year!

If a man can dance like that, you know he is skilled at a private bedroom dance as well. Wink wink 😉
Don’t forget jazz and blues.
Prince wrote “I Feel for You”, which Chaka Khan covered.
And won the Grammy as the writer for her version.
I love how Amber blushed during “I’ve got a Lion in my pocket, and baby he is ready to roar”. 🤣 Let’s go crazy” is my all time favorite Prince song.

Someone once asked Eric Clapton about being the best guitarist in the world, and Clapton said: "You'd better ask Prince about that."

He did something totally new, they were no longer adlibs, they were notes.
yeah react to Prince's BATDANCE!!!!!
I remember when this song came out in the 80's, I thought that 1999 was such a futuristic year. I thought we might be flying in cars 😂
😂 Yeah, I thought 1999 was way off in the future too! And now 1999 has been 24 years ago!
Prince and the Revolution. They made the best music.
And then Art of Noise did a cover of the Tom Jones version--so ... a triple reaction!
And it was an amazing song, too
@@dggydddy59 yes and Melissa Etheridge son last year sad as it is to lose all these folks.

A sad, sad day!
What year was that?
I also love "Delirious" by Prince. Another one of my favorites.
Probably, one of the most overlooked, underappreciated, & best examples of the quintessential Prince is his "Mountains" (from the soundtrack to the 1986 film, Under The Cherry Moon) original video.
I love that movie

You need to listen to Prince- While my guitar gently weeps. It’s a song written by The Beatles member George Harrison and the best version of it ever is the live version with Tom Petty and Prince. Some great musicians all standing around marveling at Prince absolutely destroying his solo, it’s incredible!

Jungle Love's basically Prince - then he just took off his voice and replaced it with Morris Day. There's a lot of those out there ;)
He actually wrote a song for Kenny Rogers called "You're My Love".
I was lucky to get to see Prince live, one of my favorite shows, and I've seem many great artists, so much fun!

The Sting song you mentioned is actually named Russians.
Omg Amber I love how you got ur groove on!! Lol. So cool. Prince deserves it. Every time! 💖
The fact that I was alive when this song came out and was old enough to know it was a huge hit and to love prince and be a teenager then and then to be able to sing it at every New Year’s Eve party in 1999 going into Y2K is kind of awesome
So many great prince songs to react to, even some of the 90's stuff like "7" "cream" and more...

True story: Phil Collins heard this song, told himself, 'I could do that," and wrote Sussudio. It became his biggest hit.
Serge Gainsbourg was also probably inspired by 1999 when he covered "Mon légionnaire". The main synth riff is characteristic.
The Prince Superbowl Halftime in the Rain is fantastic, and would be perfect for Superbowl Weekend.
