Actually, believe it or not, the falsetto was Prince's most comfortable range, which is why he leaned on it so heavily on his early records. So technically you could consider the falsetto to be his "natural" singing voice. Prince said that it was actually kind of painful for him to sing in a lower register like this, which is why he didn't do it very often
As a 47 year old rocker all the way, I've said for years Prince is the greatest musician/songwriter/choreographer/producer/guitarist/actor/director/dancer/....... of all time. Man could do it all. Absolute genius who never conformed and did it his way always. Much respect for the GOAT. RIP
@@mallardtheduck406 Not exactly sure how many, but know he was called by many artists of many genres of music to come play different ones for them. A profound influence on music all over the world.
Out of all the women Prince sang with, Rosie Gaines was the absolute finest. Their voices complimented each others in the rarest of ways, and that’s one reason why this song is the finest of treasures. I love how Prince seemed to take a backseat to Rosie in certain parts and let her voice shine like diamonds.
Agree. Wish Prince and Bowie had crossed studio paths...two out of this world geniuses with an uncanny similarity for those that can see it. Good day to ya.
There has NEVER been an all-around performer like Prince! And being from Minneapolis myself, I am proud to say that he was "one of us." While I never saw him in concert, I did get a chance to tour Paisley Park (his home and studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, a far western suburb of Minneapolis) back in the late 80's when I was attending broadcasting school. It was amazing! Several years ago - about a year or so before Prince died - my best friend, who lived not too far from Paisley Park, was at a local grocery store in the wee hours of the morning and walked up to the checkout line. There was a short, slender man in line in front of her, with his back to my friend. The man was with a GORGEOUS woman, of course, and at one point Prince turned to the side and my friend immediately recognized him. Of course, my friend couldn't help but stare, and finally Prince noticed her and gave a smile and a wink to my friend. Prince was a very private and shy person, which is one of the main reasons he continued to live in the far suburbs of Minneapolis rather than moving to L.A.
Finally getting into the slightly older, more mature Prince. The New Power Generation was a complete departure from The Revolution as a band with more R&B and even some rap. The different phases Prince's music went through is what makes him the greatest artist ever. His more mature music is his best. Try Call My Name and Insatiable.
Everything he touched was golden. A lot of people prefer his earlier stuff. I love it all but the later Prince spoke to me a bit more. Although, 1999 might be my favorite album front to back. @@jay-bt2lu
Yes! So glad you guys are starting to get into Prince's 90's stuff! Very underrated part of his career. The New Power Generation were Prince's band throughout the 90's and that was the incredible NPG singer Rosie Gaines dueting with him on this one. The Revolution gets all the attention because they were Prince's band during his most popular period, but the NPG were actually a much more technically proficient band, and Prince starting experimenting more with jazz and hip-hop styles during this time because they were more versatile. If you guys want to actually hear Prince spit some BARS, check out "Gett Off", "Sexy MF", "My Name is Prince", or "P Control" from this period
Say that! There is a MASSIVE treasure trove of 90’s Prince that needs to be discovered & reviewed! I would also add “I Hate U”, “Cream”, “Gold” & “Money Don’t Matter 2night” to the mix of songs to discover & review!
Rosie Gaines is so, so soulful, her voice can reach so deep inside you. I got to see Prince on the Diamonds and Pearls tour in London, one of four times I saw him, the highs were filled with screaming guitars and the lows were deeply sensuous because….Prince! lol. This is such a great fun album, get up it’s great for dancing to! Just enjoy it and be carefree!
I love that you describe him as your favorite artist! I also love that you recognize dance tracks as appealing to your girls! That makes everything right with the world!!!
"...would you be a happy boy or a girl..." and "...so bright it makes you colorblind..." These are subtle yet powerful lyrics. Love the person you love. Prince was a once in several generations talent. Quirky, yes, but I've found most very talented people are. If you haven't heard Kevin Smith's on-stage talk about how he was hired to film Prince, you absolutely should. Hilarious! Also adding my vote for The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.
Prince loved Rosie Gaines and really let her shine in live shows. She's incredible. Prince's speaking voice is very deep, he had a very large range in his singing voice. One of the best ever!
NPG just added another level of musicality to Prince's songs. Y'all should also check out "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" and just for kicks also check out another Prince favorite of mine from 1986 "Mountains". Very groovy!
You know when you just love a song and somehow forget about it over the years and then hear it again and you just fall in love all over again... I had that moment just now 😌
Rosie Gaines absolutely amazing vocalist, love her! This is one of Prince's absolute masterpieces! One of most beautiful ballads ever created! Also, Prince's natural singing and speaking voice was naturally deep! Prince is my favorite musician of all time, and this was a great reaction guys!
Prince and Rosie what a great duet! She also sings with him on “Nothing Compares to U” (not the demo the Estate put out after he passed, but the original version he put out). If you haven’t already checked out “Cream”, it’s another single off the Diamonds and Pearls album. Also, recommend “The Question of U”, “Damn U” and “Somewhere Here On Earth” . Honestly, he has so many good gems to discover!

This was my favorite Prince album. I really loved this song. ❤ Cream from album is something else! 🤩 There's a young 14 yr old blues guitar player Taj Farrant that plays Purple Rain as the last song at all his shows. Prince's music director and keyboard player Morris Hayes even came to one of his shows last month to see him. He played it on Australia's Got Talent when he was 9, but how he plays it now is incredible! Also how he plays Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gary Moore, Eric Johnson, Jimi Hendrix... He's going to be this new next generations' guitar hero. He released 2 of his own songs this year that debuted at #1 on the blues charts in the US and Australia, Crossroads and Cruz. Cruz also debuted at #1 on the in blues charts as well. Not bad for 14. Taj Farrant Purple Rain: th-cam.com/video/yU2BOoXgn0o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=l_rZp05xiKjXrP5q

Yesss! One of my favorite Prince songs. So happy you guys got to check it out. Now if you're interested in hearing him spit bars, check out "Gett Off". You won't be disappointed.
Such a talented musician. Not only was Prince a singer and pianist, but he also played assorted kinds of keyboards, bass/electric/acoustic guitars, drums and assorted percussion instruments. Thanks for another great reaction.
Whenever I hear this song it reminds me of when my family got our first computer, in 1995, and it came with a copy of the Prince videogame, Interactive. Yes, Prince had a videogame in the 90s. What a trip to be playing that as a seventh grader.
I love seeing this enthusiasm from young people for Prince’s music but it’s also bittersweet to me because of the pain it causes me since he is no longer with us . I bought this CD when it came out in 1991. It was a sort of comeback album . Prince and MJ were still big names at that time with a lot of new music coming on the scene .
FINALLY!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m so happy you finally reacted to this. Hands down my absolute FAVORITE Prince song. It’s everything that makes him fantastic. Thank you thank you thank you! Now you need to do his “Pop Life”.

A master collaboration - Prince and Rosie = Special - Rosie Gaines just slayed the vocals in this superb Prince Jam. So glad you all got to experience this one, the many facets of Prince - he is in my top 5 of all time talented musicians.
I'm always here for the Prince reactions!! The female vocalist is Rosie Gaines. She was a member of Prince's band The New Power Generation in the late 80's, early 90's. You definitely need to check out Prince's video for "Nothing Compares To You" which features Rosie. A couple of fun facts...the ballerina in the beginning of the video is Mayte, Prince's 1st wife, they wed about 4 years after this video dropped. The two models featured and that resembled twins portrayed "Diamond" & "Pearl" for this conceptual album of the same name. You should also check out the video for "Cream" the second single released from this album and his last #1 Billboard single.
1:42 For the record, that is his New Power Generation dancers Lori Werner (Stage name Lori Elle) aka "Diamond" and Robia LaMorte aka "Pearl".who starred with him in pretty much every NPG music video (and toured with him),including "Diamonds And Pearls". It is also said (i believe Prince confirmed it smiling once) that this song was dedicated to his 2 dancers, while also being a love song with another meaning entirely as well. I see you met Rosie Gaines 💪
I'm here for all the Prince reactions with my popcorn ready to see ya'll fall under his spell. Like Jay says, Prince slow songs just hit different. I love that you love him.👏🏾👏🏾
Definitely have to check out more by Prince and the NPG-“Cream,” and “Gett Off.” This is the Prince era I’m most familiar with since I was in junior high by this time. His earlier music was a little over my head I think simply because I was in early elementary school when Purple Rain came out. After this album is when he changed his name to a symbol-if you have never heard of that, definitely do a little Google search. It was a big deal back in the early 90s. The song “7” is one I really liked from his symbol era.
LOVED your reactions to this one. This album, to me, represented yet another evolution in Prince's music. It's so good! Songs like Thunder, Money Don't Matter Tonight, and Willing and Able are another step in his journey. And there's still the "dirty" fun ones like Cream and Gett Off. All of which are more than worthy of a reaction from you guys.
I didn't see this reaction in my original feed. LOVE this dude. I've been to Paisley Park back in the 90's. He used to hold secret dance party's. Free of course, although donations were encouraged for the chips and two liters and solo cups they would set out... It was so much like a chill house party with around 100 people.
Yay! Another Prince reaction! Thanks guys💜 You should check out some earlier work from Prince next. Check out "Controversy" or "Sexuality" from his Controversy album. Its a side of Prince you haven't seen before:) You'll love either one!
I hope you'll check out "Seven" for your next reaction. It's so different, but what an amazing song. "Pop Life", "Alphabet Street", "Gett Off" are all incredible, too! You also gotta get back to Sheila E with "Glamorous Life" and Sheena Easton with "Strut" or "Sugar Walls." He worked closely with both of them. (Sheena appeared in Prince's video for "You Got the Look" that y'all reacted to some time ago, and he wrote "Sugar Walls" You can definitely hear his sound on it. Plus it'll make you blush.)
LOVE THY WILL BE DONE is one of those for sure.. and that Janele monet album.. I heard it and was like "this sounds a LOT like Prince" turns out it WAS lol@@hellokimmy68
You gotta check out the Official Prince Podcast. They just released the first episode today of a series talking about the Diamonds and Pearls album and the formation of the NPG. AND Prince’s first encounter with Miss Rosie Gaines. Definitely worth listening to! 💜
I loved this era. All the songs were absolutely amazing. I’m currently reading the All the Songs book about all of his studio albums and the story behind the songs. ❤ He naturally has a deep voice, he had said that it was just easier to sing in the falsetto. He is so diverse y’all have so much to learn and love about this man. I miss him so very much.
This is my fave Prince era.. (as much as I love the 80s stuff) prob because it was the time I started to get into music on my own. So many good songs from this.. Cream, Get Off, Money Dont Matter 2nite 🖤
Prince used to call this current hair style “ The Typhoon “.. like his changing looks so does the variety and range of his music. He truly is the gift that keeps on giving . Try “ Insatiable “.. you will… well you’ll just have to listen❤
This song, Cream, Strollin', and Gett Off are my favorites off of Diamonds and Pearls. That whole album is worth a listen since y'all are both getting into his later material.
By the way, I’m a lifelong fan of prince, but to be honest, this is one of the few main song that I truly enjoyed. Most of the stuff I enjoy from him is his lesser known stuff. Such as “for the tears in your eyes“ or “continental“ or“God.“ I don’t know if she still in the business or not but Rosie Gaines was an amazing singer. I think she still alive. If you want to hear any of her things where she sings with prince, check out his original version of “nothing compares to you.“ She’s on that track as well.
Spot on! When I heard "For The Tears In Your Eyes" from a music video they aired on Friday Night Videos somewhere around 1984, I thought it was his best work. I believe the song was released on the "We Are The World" album, but it was not the same version as the music video. To this day I don't know if they ever released the music video version on any album.
@@shyman99 it’s on the Greatest Hits mega collection he put out years ago back in the 90s. It’s on the B sides CD. And I remember the version you’re talking about from the album “we are the world.“ That one was OK but the one he made the video, for that was acoustic was way better.
He's talking about love for everyone There will come a time When love will blow ur mind And everything u look 4, u'll find That will be the time Everything will shine So bright it makes u color blind
🥰…Oh his voice goes deeper…😉…This era of Prince w/ Rosie Gaines!💜🙌🏽…the 90’s with Mayte , Prince and The Original NPG…ICONIC 🔥and Sidenote Prince always did his own facial hair 😌…there’s “Dirty Boy Era, SOTT Era , Sensual Era, Bohemian/Spiritual Era, JW Era, then his Transformation Era”…he is forever adored, forever missed🕊️
Great song from Prince and the female singer Rosy Gaines. One of my favorite albums from Prince. Need to react to "Cream" or "Get Off" from this LP next. Thanks.😎
I adore this song and I'd forgotten about it. Thank you for the wonderful surprise today! Also, this was my favorite group he worked with. They are all so danged talented, but especially how her voice melds with his so beautifully. /chef's kiss
Prince was the standout performer of the 80s - extraordinary in so many ways. I can recommend 2 videos. The first shows what a great guitarist Prince was - it's a tribute performance for Beatles legend George Harrison, featuring, Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lyne, Steve Winwood - and George Harrison's son, Dhani Harrison - performing While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Prince absolutely steals the show with his incredible lead break. The 2nd? Check out Prince's Superbowl performance in the pouring rain (the promoter was concerned about the rain, but when he phoned him about it, Prince asked if he could arrange for it to rain more heavily).
Yes, that was the talented Rosie Gaines singing with Prince, and playing piano. She's been ill the last decade with diabetes and seizures. Last I heard she was doing better, but I think she's retired from music. She had a great run with Prince through the 90's playing in New Power Generation (NPG), the Revolution substitute. Thanks!!👍❤
I'm so glad I stumbled onto your channel a while ago 😊😊. You guys react to some of my favourite songs from my childhood and teen years .. and ALWAYS make me smile at your reactions to them. It's great to see a couple who enjoy music together. Thank you! Cheers from Australia. 🥰
This is another song that I have a very clear, distinct memory of. This song came out when I was in the 7th grade, and I remember in English class this kid named Jeremy walked into the classroom singing "D to the I to the A to the M" and I got really happy because I was the only one of my friends that liked Prince and had this album (I had the cassette :) ), so I was happy that someone else liked this song!
DID U Know.... Prince woke up in the morning and just started making music. It's rumored he has 2000-4000 songs unreleased, vaulted. Whole higher dimension was that cat. FUN FACT. He gave.... GAVE The Bengals song Manic Monday, which launched them. FEMALE FRIDAY, Prince actually wrote the song for them to play (They jammed together a bunch of times in private) The BENGALS, Just Another Manic Monday.
I love how you guy's go from hair bands like "Ratt-Lay it Down" to Prince. I was just starting H.S. when this song came out, I love the cadence and Rhythm to this song...I was watching Prince-"Purple Rain" and Michael Jacksons- Thriller videos...I miss the day's when there was an overload of such Awesome tunes. Look into Taylor Dayne-Love Will Lead You back.. Love Ya Guy's!!!
Prince and Rosie Gaines were FIRE!!! You are hearing Prince’s natural voice here. You will hear it in The Most Beautiful Girl in the World.❤️

After this album is when he changed his name to a symbol-if you have never heard of that, definitely do a little Google search. It was a big deal back in the early 90s. The song “7” is one I really liked from his symbol era.
I absolutely LOVE the PRINCE days on your channel!!! They make me so happy!!! 💜💜💜💜
R.I.P To The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, Hard To Believe It's Been 8 Years Today Since We Lost This Great Singer 😢😢
The loss of Prince really hit me hard. I still can not believe he is gone. I'm so glad I went to one of his concerts. ❤
My favourite Prince song is the album track 'Strollin'', from the Diamonds and Pearls Album.
Prince is ALWAYS A++ 💜
I didn't see this reaction in my original feed.
This was my first Prince record and sealed the deal on me being an eternal fan boy.
prince lived not far from me
~ rest in paradise prince ~
💜💜💜
“Do me” is the first song for a married couple to be reacted to off Controversy.
One of his big hits with The New Power Generation. This was late 1991 into 1992. It hit #3.
In my opinion his last great album
definitely@@Marbella125
@@Marbella125the gold experience wasn’t good?
One of my favorite - and best Songs Prince ever made - period! I love this Song so much and listening to it always makes me cry a bit...
This is my favorite Prince song! Love it!
This is one of my favorites--underrated songs of Prince 😍
I hope you'll check out "Seven" for your next reaction. It's so different, but what an amazing song. "Pop Life", "Alphabet Street", "Gett Off" are all incredible, too!
You also gotta get back to Sheila E with "Glamorous Life" and Sheena Easton with "Strut" or "Sugar Walls." He worked closely with both of them. (Sheena appeared in Prince's video for "You Got the Look" that y'all reacted to some time ago, and he wrote "Sugar Walls" You can definitely hear his sound on it. Plus it'll make you blush.)
Sheena Easton's 101 is a GREAT Prince song, too.
@@azifukare It's so crazy how many songs he wrote for other artists, but you can totally hear his influence in them.
LOVE THY WILL BE DONE is one of those for sure.. and that Janele monet album.. I heard it and was like "this sounds a LOT like Prince" turns out it WAS lol@@hellokimmy68
Do you know the rumor about WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?
Pop Life is my all-time favorite sing by Prince. I love the album (12 inch) version.
Prince will always be in a class of his own. No one can touch him, or the people he collabs with.
You gotta check out the Official Prince Podcast. They just released the first episode today of a series talking about the Diamonds and Pearls album and the formation of the NPG. AND Prince’s first encounter with Miss Rosie Gaines. Definitely worth listening to! 💜
I love this song! Its one of his best!
I cried to this song when Prince passed away! On repeat! My favorite song! 🥹🥹🥰🥰💜🎵🎶🫶🏻🫰🏻
The female singer blew me away. Love is the masterplan. Great choice.
Yes!!! This is one of my favorite Prince songs. I love Prince & Rosie's voices and the message of the song. "All I can do is just offer you my love."
This is my fave Prince era.. (as much as I love the 80s stuff) prob because it was the time I started to get into music on my own. So many good songs from this.. Cream, Get Off, Money Dont Matter 2nite 🖤
If you want to really hear Prince's vocal range, listen to "Damn You." One of my favorite songs by Prince.
Prince used to call this current hair style “ The Typhoon “.. like his changing looks so does the variety and range of his music. He truly is the gift that keeps on giving . Try “ Insatiable “.. you will… well you’ll just have to listen❤
Typhoon 😉
@@smh93 ur right , thank you❤️
Incredible ballad I love playing over. Shows Prince's versatility. He is multi-talented. And the accompanying singer - wow.
LEGENDARY SONG!! Prince with Rosie Gaines was magic!
Cream...Prince!!! Is one of my favorites from that era
Oh yeah... that was my first Prince Album. This track is awesome. Rosie G, the drums and Prince. Greatness.
Out of the huge catalog of this legend's music, this song still ranks among my top 5. Absolute 🔥🔥🔥
Prince has a song out with 3rd Eyed Girl called "Stop this Train." One of my favorite songs in general.
This song, Cream, Strollin', and Gett Off are my favorites off of Diamonds and Pearls. That whole album is worth a listen since y'all are both getting into his later material.
This is my most favorite song of the time!!! Thanks for a great reaction guys!
Prince is so authoritative. Lol love it
By the way, I’m a lifelong fan of prince, but to be honest, this is one of the few main song that I truly enjoyed. Most of the stuff I enjoy from him is his lesser known stuff. Such as “for the tears in your eyes“ or “continental“ or“God.“
I don’t know if she still in the business or not but Rosie Gaines was an amazing singer.
@@EVGriffinJr - Totally agree. The acoustic version is the definitive version. Thanks for the pointing me to the CD!
I am sooooo happy your guys chose this song. I've loved this song since first heard it when it first came out.
This is his masterpiece. Totally awesome song.
great song... and for something completely different...SEVEN...another unique piece from Prince...
SHE is Rosie Gaines and she's amazing. Just check the live version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" and you'll love her 4ever.
My fav Prince era, absolutely adore Rosie Gaines, she and Prince were magical!! 💜
The Most Beautiful in the World and 7 are definitely worth checking out.
he did this at the grammys live...FIRE!!!
This is my absolute favorite song by Prince. The world will never see another like him. Legendary!
This was the very first song I ever heard from Prince. I still love this song.
He's talking about love for everyone
There will come a time
When love will blow ur mind
And everything u look 4, u'll find
That will be the time
Everything will shine
So bright it makes u color blind
Exactly! Same reason he says boy or a girl and has all the children at the end!!
My favorite song of Prince's💜.
Thanks.😎
Prince had an amazing voice range of 6 octaves and Rosie Gaines kills it on this song !!!!
One of my favorite songs by Prince!!
Prince could do anything and everything. We will truly never see the likes of him again.
Thanks!!👍❤
This was a PHENOMENAL album all the way around. One of my top favs. ❤
SHOUT OUT TO ROSIE G!!!! PRINCE, I THINK THE WORLD WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE DROPPED THIS ART 🎨 OF 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!! RIP CHAMP!!!
My absolute favorite Princ song. Feel like it is a showcase of his talent. So glad you reviewed it. I was one of many who suggested it, I am sure.
