  • This Samsung 55" TV Model UN55TU8500F keeps restarting, I have seen this problem before it can be fixed with some tape.
    1. Disconnect the wire from the power supply to the mainboard
    2. See if the backlights turn on
    3. If they do then it's either your mainboard or the LCD pannel
    4. Disconnect one ribbon cable on the LCD panel
    5. If the TV stays on then your LCD panel has a short
    6. Use some tape to tape part of the ribbon cable until it works.
    Cheers.

they should investigate Samsung. Everybody has the same problem around the same time. This is a rip off. If this is supposed to last no more than 2yrs they should advertise it as so.

I agree. My extended warranty expired 2 months ago and now the tv is doing exactly what everyone else’s is doing. Which is why I’m here. 2 years and 2 months for a tv that cost over $800 is not sufficient. Samsung is garbage.

    Outstanding big man!
Just fixed my QE50Q60TAU using this exact trick.
Took a while to figure out which pins - just trial and error but I got there.
A 2mm strip of sellotape saved me over £400 which I was quoted to fix the TV.

Bro, you kept on trying to tape every single line ? I tried up to 5th line, it works a while then same things happen and screen turns half black and it restarts. To which line did you reach ?

@@dr.davident used a piece of black art tape the width of 2 pins and carefully moved it down the strip and reconnected until I got a visual. I kept the TV on, which I do not recommend if you are not experienced. Reason I say is because even after disconnected from power these TV's are capable of delivering a strong shock with any stored energy.

It’s important to understand that this is more of a bandaid than a fix. any one of the pins could be broken. I just spent 2 hours doing this only to get it barely working (horrible but still visible display). Sometimes this works like a charm, other times you should just throw in the towel and buy a new TV (not Samsung).

This is great thanks only when I unplug one ribbon only the back lights come on but at least the TV doesn't go into the power cycle. Just curious as to why half the screen doesn't work like in the video?
You just saved me from recycling a two year old TV! Cheers 🍻

    • @GrouseGarage

I know your comment is a year old, but I had the exact same thing with my Samsung TU8000. It would power cycle constantly but when I removed the ribbon from one side I did not get half of the TV working, but the backlight did come on and it did stop the power cycling. My fix was taping a small section on the right side ribbon, like most seem to have done.

My model is q6f Qn55q6famfxza BN94-12756C which doesn't have the same accessible gold ribbon cables. Instead, it has two sets of white ribbon cables from the mobo into the panel. When I disconnect both ribbon cables from the mobo, it still blinks. Since it blinks when the mobo is disconnected from the panel, does this indicate a bad mobo or ps?

  • @ItsTawni

My TV is experiencing the same exact problem. I removed one half of the ribbon from one of the clamps and the power cycle stopped and the TV remained on and finally made the sound of the TV rebooting over the speakers. But I have no picture on either panel. I tried unclamping the ribbon on both sides to no avail, both panels remained black. Does this mean that I have a short on both panels and both sides of the ribbon will need tape or does this mean my problem is elsewhere?
Edit: I only needed to put tape on the left panel ribbon for the full picture to return but half of the color is faded on the left side of the screen. Is this a problem when covering too many pins? I will keep trouble shooting. Thanks

My Samsung tv (None-smart) randomly turns off and just keeps going into a boot loop. I heard the sound that its turning on and then right off. I tried unplugging it for a few minutes but that did not do anything. I tried different outlets and tried holding down the power button but that did not do anything.
Last night I left it unplugged for about an hour which yielded some great results. The tv turned on and stayed on for over an hour without any HDMI,USB's plugged into it.
I left the TV unplugged overnight and this morning it turned back on without any issues. After about 20 minutes it went back into a boot loop.
I also confirmed there are no sleep settings or power saver settings.
Anything else I could try before tossing it in the trash.
