They were only 16 years old as they volunteered, but lied and added 2 and said they were 18. To be accepted.Young and naive, eager for glory. Instead they got slaughtered. Wonderful tribute to Motörhead and all soldiers.

He died when he was 16. He will forever be 16. Never get any older.

Darn it, still crying every time I see this. [I hope you'll forgive a mostly pasted comment for once, it took me a while to write the first time.] I saw them perform this live in Leeds on the first night of the tour, and it was so emotional. So let's raise a few glasses: to Birmingham, birthplace of metal; to Lemmy (RIP); to Sabaton; and to those who sacrificed so much. My wife's grandfather was one of those who lied about his age - he was only _14_ when he went to the Front! He got out alive, thanks to some amazing luck: he was wounded and taken to a field hospital, and his own father was there at the same time. He swore a lot when he saw his son, then wrote to his wife back home explaining the situation. She in turn sent evidence of their boy's age to the War Office and they pulled him out. After he came home he never spoke to anyone in the family about his experiences. Greetings from South Yorkshire - Lest We Forget.

I have seen figure stating just over two and a half square meter per casualty, barely room for a grave each, yes, only about 1/3 died at the actual battle scene but casualties (including wounded...) at 1.2 million something that is still insanity

    J. R. R. Tolkien was at the somme and he wrote that at the end of the first day all of his friends except for maybe one were killed.

All Men? Yes, especially back then. I'm a Man, Veteran, History buff & know Women have served in various capacities in history. During WW1 (for USA) it was 1st conflict where Women really expanded their roles past Nursing (there were many Nurses). American women served as telephone / switchboard operators. May not sound like a big deal, but WW1 was on a scale never seen. Communications over a large battle front & logistics between Armies speaking different languages never done to that extent. Women handled mail. Nurses were at field hospitals Not far behind the front. They were subjected to attacks by enemy aircraft, artillery & poison gas. They transported their patients to bunkers during attacks, put on gas masks for Soldiers if they were missing arms. Risked themselves in height of Spanish Flu caring for sick Soldiers. Some of their patients weren't transportable during attack so they protected them w/mattresses. We have one Nurse buried in my hometown who saw her patient (who had Spanish Flu) had damaged gas mask. Concerned if he got gas in his lungs he wouldn't be strong enough to fight it. She put her gas mask on him & died (22 yrs old). Women like her were awarded for bravery. Women (from different nations) have been Prisoners of War. As a Father of a Daughter, I tell her those stories. She's put American Flags on graves of Female Soldiers. As a young woman, she needs to know the sacrifices of both Men & Women who have come before.

If no one has mentioned this. The two guys standing in the door opening at 9:45 are Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell, the drummer and the guitarist of Motörhead. Yes, the picture is of Lemmy Kilmister the bassist and singer of Motörhead and the guy holding it is Eddie Rocha who was the tour manager for Motörhead and the current on for Sabaton.

you don't have to cover up sabaton videos as they manage themselves and have done from the start this means they are not tied to a record label and so there songs are not copyrighted by record labels

It's not specifically about World War the way Sabaton presented is about every month that is served throughout history not just World War 1 every character in this video is a Easter egg to all their previous songs that they've done

Adding two years to their ages means, they made themselves older to join the military. You had to be 16 back then, so the guys in this verse were only 14 and that was pretty normal back in WW1. They didn't know what they were thrown into. They thought of war like some heroic adventure, with some small moving armies battleing, like in the napoleonic wars.

no, they were 16 added 2 years so it would look like they were 18.
