The 6.1 is probably one the best Motors that Mopar and Chrysler ever produced. I think the 6.2 Hellcat motor is right up there as well. But the 6.1 is a strong true muscle car engine with endless mods and aftermarket parts for it.
These 6.1s are amazing, love the capabilities with limited mods, will never get rid of mine, thanks for shining some light on these 6.1s. Keep em coming.
I got a 2007 charger with the 6.1 I love mine when I bought it already had upgraded exhaust and cold air on it and little bit on front suspension these are great cars idk how much power you can make on em safely with nitrous or supercharger but hell by time you have engine and trans built put you some gears and back you can pretty much throw a good amount of boost on it n most likely beat a hell can for a lot cheaper lol
They bash on em because they got slower as years passed, we are living in another golden era for muscle, and competition is way too tough, thats mostly what Ive seen of hate to it, aside from that most people do recognize its potential, however we are still very limited when it comes to mods compared to newer ones.

The 6.1, is the best modern hemi. To me it sounds the best, it is the most reliable, it makes good power etc. The 6.2 in the hellcat, demon, and the 6.4 are based on the 6.1 for a reason.

I absolutely love my 6.1HEMI in my 2007 Charger SRT8 Super Bee. I have Dynatech Longtubes, intake, flowmaster mufflers, and Portotype custom tube. I have t had it dyno tuned yet, but will soon as well as supercharged. It’s a fun car and motor for sure. Awesome video
Was looking at the 5.7 rt and 6.4 scat challenger but then test drove a clean SRT8 6.1 22k miles. Sold!!! So happy with it. Wish it was manual but still so much fun.
I’m rocking a 6.1. Completely built the engine. There’s just not a huge base for it so it’s expensive. I got mine honed and trikes to a 426 with a big ol cam. Just waiting for the tune right now

My '06 300 6.1 has a Spartan Plus (max torque) cam, performance heads, and ported intake manifold and kept the stock exhaust and gears for ~450 hp and 426 ft/lbs at the wheels. No 1/4 mile times yet but she's two tons of fun!

Without the iconc 6.1 mill, we wouldn't have the mighty hellcats or demons and are the granddaddy of them all. Please give us more content on the 370s, and really does get neglected all around. I thought about getting a 392, but like it that not everyone has the 6.1 and is also rare to see here in AZ as well. Everyone gives her a lot of attention because of it, and gets thumbs up from the Hellcat and Scat owners all the time 💪🏼😎
How it went from top of the mopar V8 line up from ‘05-‘10 to nearly forgotten is wild. Dudes with 5.7’s used to trip over themselves when guys parted out 6.1’s. I know, I used to be one. Now I have an OG ‘06 Charger SRT8.
I live in Fort Worth I plan on hitting 500HP+ on my 300s 3.6 soon hopefully we can shoot a video and do some pulls with your 5.7 I want people to know that the 3.6 really have some power you just gotta be patience with it
I currently own a pristine silver 2006 Magnum SRT8 with 153k on ODO, very light mods to engine, has a Southern Hotrod built NAG1, Circle D stall converter with modded valve body controlled by a Dodge MTMC that snaps your neck while shifting through a 1 piece DSS driveshaft. Has a 93 Diablo Tune, RIPP coils, Legmaker CAI, Aluminum radiator, still have fun driving it. Awaiting the day when I get to drop a NA 426 in it. I will be buried in this car.

If I was building any type of drag car with a Gen 3 it would have a 6.1 based block 426 using ported Big Gas 6.4 heads. It’s the perfect candidate for a mopar a body. If I didn’t have so many irons in the fire, I would already pulled the 440 out of my duster and done it. Too much power gets soaked up with these heavy platforms, part of the reason I’ve did very little to my 2010 challenger. Cars making 700hp and struggling to break into the 10’s.
I’ve had my 6.1 for about 9 months now, (2008 Charger SRT8) it’s been great so far but I’ve got the car back at the dealer for trans service because it doesn’t shift into 3rd anymore smh
My 5.7l is RIP, idk whats wrong already $4000 into just having mechanics look into it, sounds like a knock but the engine in in great condition inside... I tried to track the noise changed a few fuel injectors and ignition coils.. then it got way worse and it's back in the mechanics shop for more $$ 😢😢 I think I need to start a go fund me or something for a swap into a new 5.7 or 6.1l just to keep it alive..
I ran a 6.1 for 5 years on 125 shot intake deleted resonates tune 503 560 torque ran 11.8s never had a issue accept one dead fan loved that motor and trans

Bet a good set of drag radials would help, and if our drag strip was open to the public more than 6 or 7 times a year...

yah they're awesome rides, wake up nicely when modified. Have you upgraded rim/tire? That will help the beast get some traction. After that Cam/Throttlebody would be a nice combo upgrade.
What’s your opinion on the 5.7? Also do you recommend disabling the eco mode. I do by shift the gear selector to - just once. Still get 8 gears but I here different things about the MDO
If the 6.1 was behind an 8 speed I believe it'll surprise all 392s... besides that 6.1 can handle boost better than the 392 but really Pure Motor with the proven Mercedes 5 speed slushbox that's indestructible vs .3 extra in displacement and VVT with the vastly superior 8 speed
I have a 6.1 Charger and they're pretty fun. I think Dodge should place the 6.1 in the new Chargers and have that be the new R/T. the 6.1 paired with the 8-speed would be a pretty quick car.

Question: Can you bore the 6.1 .035 over? Cause that would mean you can potentially turn it into a budget Hellcat as it has the same stroke and uses the same crankshaft if I'm not mistaken.
My 6.1 only has a stock diablosport i3 tune on it, but its still a blast to drive. At 3:14 I saw that other 6.1 and was wondering why they don't interview "that" driver. Sounded so beasty they had to tell him to turn it off...

It was extremely new and there was not a whole lot of mods for it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 6.1L engine. With minimal bolt ons it ran great on the track. Fastest quarter mile at 3000 above sea level was 13.07
6.1 for life. I own a 2010 300 SRT8 and always get looks and compliments wherever i go. People are always stunned to see a SRT8 badge on a 300.
The launch on that silver charger was insane. No wheel spin, almost pulled the front tires off the ground

Head flow is superior on the 6.4 and so is the intake manifold.

Altitude really makes a difference. I have raced 392 hemi's at that drag strip. At a mile high they run low 13s. I do good to break into the 12s.

Rebuilding mine now. Massive cam, hellcat lifters, Melling oil pump, all forged internals, 2300 Maggie with spray. The bad: Limited aftermarket PD blower support.

If the 6.1 was behind an 8 speed I believe it'll surprise all 392s... besides that 6.1 can handle boost better than the 392 but really Pure Motor with the proven Mercedes 5 speed slushbox that's indestructible vs .3 extra in displacement and VVT with the vastly superior 8 speed

Got my 06 300 srt8 with 160k for $2500. Have about $1k in it with mods and maintained. Hellcat blower going on next year.

It's crazy because the 6.1's are actually pretty cheap. I'd Def want a Challenger one. Maybe after restoring my 08 SS Impala, I'll save up for one.
I have a 6.1 Charger and they're pretty fun. I think Dodge should place the 6.1 in the new Chargers and have that be the new R/T. the 6.1 paired with the 8-speed would be a pretty quick car.
The 6.1 w/ 8 speed would be an interesting combo. I bet many would opt for that because the engine is pretty efficient with forced air.
@@RTLife yeah. If my stock 6.1 with the 5-speed can run a 4.7s 0-60 then paired with tbe 8-speed they'd actually be something to fear on the road. Kind of the 6.4s little brother

No I think most ppl underestimate them because of the 5 speed auto I shocked no one has attempted to link it with the 8 speed auto

Question: Can you bore the 6.1 .035 over? Cause that would mean you can potentially turn it into a budget Hellcat as it has the same stroke and uses the same crankshaft if I'm not mistaken.

My 6.1 only has a stock diablosport i3 tune on it, but its still a blast to drive. At 3:14 I saw that other 6.1 and was wondering why they don't interview "that" driver. Sounded so beasty they had to tell him to turn it off...
