    I'm using Deck Correct now to restain/repair my 20 year old deck. This stuff is great! Just take your time and put it on nice and thick during the first coat, filling in the cracks. I did this and don't see the need for a second coat. I was contemplating demolishing my deck and having a new one installed but I'm so glad I gave Deck Correct a try. $200 beats $20,000 any day. I'm sure I just extended the usable life of my deck 5+ years.

    Thanks! I'm impatiently waiting to get started on mine...waiting for the weather to dry up. For an old lady like me, I duct tape a brush to the end of a pole, to get in all the crevices. [I can't crawl around like you youngsters--lol] It's very important to get every nook an cranny covered thickly, bcuz, this is a polymer paint. Water & ice can get underneath and lift the coating.

    Such a cute pooch! Is she a red golden doodle 75% poodle? Do I need to sand the deck first all the time? I think my Dad has a power washer. Does that hand sander get heavy? It is so satisfying to see the color go down!

    5-gallon paint cans are incredibly difficult to pour from if you remove the whole lid. Every deck re-do video I have seen shows a 5 gal container. However, a "less-than-$3" pouring spout will go into the 2-inch hole in the top and make it easy to tip the can and pour into a tray, etc. Just look up "5-gallon paint spout" at your local paint supplier. Look up "Tech Otto" 2-min video on TH-cam.

  • @dianetoohey9750
    @dianetoohey9750 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The directions on the deck correct said to only use it for HORIZONTAL surfaces. But it looks like you used it for your spindles too. Is that the case? Or did you use the same brand but just their regular stain that matched the deck correct?

    • @LibbyFlanagan
      @LibbyFlanagan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did use on the spindles and there are a lot of runs, I think that may be why it says that. But it has held up well 🤷‍♀️

    • @irishpirate6779
      @irishpirate6779 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      i read the instructions too but had no choice. we are adding the cabot deck correct over some old behr deck over on a deck that is 45 years old. yes, 45 years old. back when treated lumber was made to last, soaked in arsenic. cant get treated lumber like that anymore. my parents built this house and religiously treated this deck many times over the years with many different deck stains and sealants and im confident that it has significantly extended the life of the wood. just pressure washed everything again, 90% of the work is in getting a clean surface to work with so that the product can be properly applied and do its thing to last multiple years. its a very thick product, didnt find it to have any runs on the vertical pickets (exactly like the ones in this video). only one coat is needed on the vertical pickets. two coats on the horizontal boards.

    • @irishpirate6779
      @irishpirate6779 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I found that I had to go back over some sections I was doing. it's a "high density" product and very different from paint and stain. it has a tendency to want to run on vertical surface, I had to keep going back and brushing it even again as the "run" forming is a delayed reaction vs thinner paint and stains.

  • @GiovanniGiorgo
