Barred Owl stays on the ground

Normally, Barred Owls do not stick around on terra firma after they jump down and fail in the hunt. They usually return to a nearby perch pronto, where they likely feel less vulnerable. But once in a while they stay down and pass the time. Perhaps they like the feel of the cool earth on their toes.
