    I have always wanted to go to Iceland. Who would have thought that a marathon there would be so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Your photos are stunning btw.

      Totally worth going and doing an ultra there if you have the time to make it happen. A magical country for sure.

    I keep coming back to this documentary! After running it this past summer, watching it back is definitely a different experience. I kind of regret not documenting my race now but I'm glad I can always come back to this one. Love your work brother.

    Fantastic race Kerry. I really appreciate the your stubbornness. Also saw your 202mile race. You are fine athlete. But most of all I like your positivity. It makes me motivated to train. You are doing a great job!

      Hi there. I want to do my first 50km ultra this week. Can you please tell me how it was and how often did you drank/eat since it is considered an ultramarathon. And I also cant immagine running that long without any breaks. Im not much of a running person I just want to do it for personal achievement. Also very worried about muscle loss. Please reply thank you.

      Look at 9:50 where everyone is walking even in the beginning. You can jog and walk the 50K. Most will do that. Google ultramarathon nutrition and hydration and read up. Basically, eat whatever you can without getting your stomach upset. Drink a cup or two of water per hour at least. Maybe take a salt packet per hour. Fruit works well usually. Find what works for you in training.
      Some will eat full on while doing an ultra. Some take bites of pnut butter and jelly sandwiches. Eat some protein to limit muscle loss.

    Wow how epic is that scenery, must make it interesting
    Much prefer the open views when hiking compared to forests. Now just got to get into trail running. This is going on the list., wonder if I could get fit enough for the 2022 one. As always great video and great race you smashed it.

      Iceland is worth the visit if you run the race or not. I have a couple run videos from the week prior to the race around Iceland that are worth looking at like this one: th-cam.com/video/W5WZtPSRBB0/w-d-xo.html You'll want to go just to explore the trails.

      I agree that he seems to be smiling while he is in the ultra. But I found that if I set the video speed in settings to 2.0 that he looks like a Bobble Head and then I don't have to listen to his gibberish mid-race...
      Looks like a pretty course...

      There are some full length documentaries on TH-cam about ultrarunning. Not sure if this is one, but Unbreakable is about the Western States 100. It all depends on what your time goals if any are or whether you want to just finish and don't care about what time. That will determine what articles to read.

      HighHeelsTamia LOL it is an unfortunate lens SCRATCH! Hate that it is there. Perhaps I need to replace the unit before my race next week. Sorry about that.

  • @axlrosea675

    this is neat. thanks. i still don't get why people do ultras.

    • @eriklucken6961
      @eriklucken6961 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      People do ultras for 2 reasons. Either Marathons are too short, or it is because most ultras are trail running, which is better than road races. Trail running is amazing, just out in the mountains in the heart of nature, looking for a good challenge.

    • @axlrosea675
      @axlrosea675 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erik Lucken
      OK. Still one can do trail runs that are a lot shorter. Which is what I do most of the time. (Marathon too short? I don't even want to invest more time than I would do in a marathon prep.)

    • @tuesdaysrunner4038
      @tuesdaysrunner4038 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too. I still am trying to figure out why I have done 100 miler ultra marathons in the mountains??? Maybe I should do another one to help myself figure it out???

  • @aerobars9227
    @aerobars9227 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    The expense to be involved in ultra races must be unreal.

  • @tuesdaysrunner4038
    @tuesdaysrunner4038 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Kerry was doing 100 miles per week in the mountains just one week before this 55K and then did the Bigfoot 200 miler?
    It would probably be helpful to viewers if he would have a segment at the beginning where he explains what his gear is, what shoes he is wearing, and what he has in his drop bags. And perhaps why he chose that gear and snacks. He did talk a bit mid-race on some things.
    At least he wasn't spouting out Communist propaganda like he was with that Commie chick who was his pacer in Bigfoot 200...

  • @bradleyhauf2346
    @bradleyhauf2346 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    i wish people would use etymology correctly. madnesses and insanities and that which is crazy are all vices, they're what's ripping us apart from our insides out. they're what lead us astray. if you're doing good today your etymology need check as "well." for i'm doing well, or at least in unconditional hope thereof. but others are self destructive and counterproductive due to their false useage of etymology. so don't go insane/mad, but keep with virtues which are against craziness and madnesses and insanities. stick with virtues against the accursed thing. virtues are of a sound mind. vices like madnesses crazinesses and insanities are not. even magicks are ancient sins like worries and frenzies. people rather are very dull headed within their dull useage of common etymological mistakes. :/ study your virtues against vices. its a great biblical field study. helps one abstain from worldly lusts.
