    Another great review!
When you said, "he's so fast" that was the Blonski Run. We had wires suspended across the park hooked to Blonski so he was moving close to 40kmh (25mph) with the tips of his feet barely touching the ground as he skimmed above it! The Humvee that rolled over soon after was not supposed to. The park was muddy and the front left wheel dug in catapulting the vehicle as seen. The roof gunner was lucky not to be crushed. I was 15-20 ft away and watched as his contortions and centrifugal force sucked him back into the vehicle instead of spitting him out. Very lucky.
The helicopter crash was shot on three different sets and had another set devoted solely to the largest explosion ever done in Toronto, not to mention the CGI interspersed!
The best part of working on the movie was working with Tim Roth. I worked next to him for a good part of the film. He has an amazing presence! We only chatted briefly but I brought him a LOT of coffee! Not my department but I happily took on the task of keeping him supplied!
Watching with you made the movie much better than I remembered it being. Lolz ... I might have been a bit biased when I first watched as that production left a bitter taste in my mouth for a while.
Thanks again for another great review!

Cristy, a couple of things. Mr. Blue was supposed to become Hulk's archenemy from the comics, The Leader who possessed super intellect. but the sequel never came about. Stan Lee had a affinity for the Frankenstein monster, and wound up combining him with Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to create The Incredible Hulk. Just as a note for understanding the Hulk a little, in comparison to the Abomination, is that even though the Hulk is smaller than him and base level weaker, Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets. So, it's been said that there is theoretically no limit to how strong he can get. The Abomination doesn't get stronger the angrier he gets.

Betty didn't want Bruce to become a murderer, so that's why she yelled at the Hulk to stop. Hulk has killed people, but mostly through collateral damage of his rage. It's usually not intentional. But, through the years, he has killed some intentionally. This is early on though.

Great reaction! Really enjoying watching you discover the MCU. I don't know if you know, but this movie is a little bit of the "black sheep" of the MCU (or at least it used to be) because there were many changes after it came out (like Ed Norton being replaced by Mark Ruffalo). As a result, the movie is pretty underrated, but it's actually very good!

    • @CristyReacts
      @CristyReacts  ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @michaelcarlson1208

It was supposedly because Ed Norton had changed the script and changed scenes when it was shot and Marvel Studios did not like it. Ed Norton is on the record that he did not like being able to add any creativity to the movie. It sounds bad from his perspective, but to be honest, it is fair from what Marvel Studios was trying to accomplish at the time. They were a brand new studio with immense pressure to succeed because of all the financing they received. Kevin Feige was(and still is) head of Marvel Studios and had mapped out the whole universe and where they wanted it to go and how they needed characters to fill in(He was part of the early Spiderman films at Sony and X-Men Films at fox, mostly just learning under leadership how to run a studio. Kevin Feige himself is an avid comic book fan and got the chance to break a way and create Marvel Studios and wanted to create the MCU. He needed everything to go right and there couldn't' be any box office failures or anything slowing down production, not just for his sake, but for the Studio) Simply put though, it was just do to "creative differences" which happens sometimes in business. I still loved the movie and I honestly think Mark Ruffalo did amazing rest of the way. @CristyReacts

When I first saw this movie, I thought it was a sequel to a movie that came out in 2003, just called _Hulk._ That movie's supposed to actually _chronicle_ Hulk's origin. The CGI is _much_ rougher. The movie, overall, is _terrible,_ and it kind of annoys me to say that, because Jennifer Connelly's in it and I'm a fan of hers. She deserved better.
I'm glad they started the canon over again with _this_ one, though.

    • @michaelcarlson1208
      @michaelcarlson1208 ปีที่แล้ว

Both are very good shows and would recommend to watch. I loved Breaking Bad a lot more, but either way both very good shows. Breaking Bad honestly probably got me into watching long series because I had mostly watched only movies because nothing caught my attention at a young age. Honestly there really are way too many good shows out there which is good lol, I would probably have to send another list and depends what type of shows you are into or wanting to give a shot. "Arcane" on Netflix is a great little series (9 episodes) and good introduction into anime genre and action. I tell most people I know that "This Is Us" on Hulu might be one of the best shows of all time, well written, great actors and story. I've rarely seen any channels have reactions on it. Can never go wrong with "The Office", just know the first season is rough. I could literally go on, but you'll definitely have ton of content when you start a series since they are so long.@@CristyReacts

6:20-6:22 I will point out, they came in with tranquilizer darts, so they sedated the dog, that wasn't a bullet. You did catch up with that by 6:42, but from your reaction, I had to say it.
Stan Lee's character went to the hospital with Gamma Radiation Poisoning. Bruce can absorb, and has absorbed immense amounts of Gamma Radiation. He doesn't want to turn into The Hulk, because, he can remember what The Hulk does, but he doesn't have any real control of The Hulk. The Hulk is fueled by emotions, and reacts on emotions. At the early part of dealing with this, anger was the one emotion that The Hulk channeled.
12:20-12:25 sharing a bed might not be a good idea... As far as he knows, the key to keeping The Hulk contained is centered around his heart rate as the only physical measure he has. She was your first girl crush. Are you confident that if you, in that moment, loved her, missed her, and actually went a little further, would it be safe for her? I mean 1. If he turns into The Hulk, he has no control. 2. If he turns into The Hulk, he's going to be at least twice his current size in every dimension, and 3. If a drop of his blood can send someone to the hospital with gamma radiation poisoning, what of other bodily fluids?
14:12-14:18 Sonic wave, super compressed sound. Sound waves move through all forms of matter, liquids, gasses and solids. The theory being since they will transition from the air into his flesh, they don't have to breach his flesh to affect him.
15:00-15:10 the first emotion strong enough to influence The Hulk aside from anger shows its self.
Mr. Blue was supposed to become the comic book arch nemesis of The Hulk, but that didn't pan out as they enveloped the character into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe [MCU] as he just didn't fit. Remember though, Mr. Blue had only as small sample of blood, so he had to make more. The process of making more, outside of Bruce, likely affected the original DNA in the blood sample.
While The Hulk may be more aware of his capabilities, remember he's a scientist, and in this case, desperate to protect people deep inside, but there are limits to the influence of that in him. Blonski on the other hand, is more 'cognizant' he recognized Hulk and said his name, and his background is a soldier often used for "dark, sometimes off the books tasks"
Hulk is clearly green. Abomination is more greyish. Though I do think "Help the skin one, cut the bone crusty one in half" would have been much clearer.

I worked in Film Production for over 15 years. Specifically to this review, I was a Production Assistant in the Locations department on The Incredible Hulk. The movie was 40 days over the shooting schedule and had blown its mind bending budget out of the water. Edward Norton and Marvel were not playing well with each other, lolz! By the time we were done most of the crew were sick of each other with a couple touches of hate mixed in. Marvel had planned to do a series of productions here in Toronto, but after this disaster we never saw them here again.
The best part of working on this film was that I was on second unit. We did all of the stunts, crashes, gunfire and explosions!
I only watched the movie once after we were done. I thought it was long, slow, had a lame ending and they still couldn't get his hair right.

IMO, any MCU viewing order list should include the Marvel One Shots.
Marvel One Shot: The Consultant should follow immediately after The Incredible Hulk.
Marvel One Shot: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer should follow right after Iron Man 2.
Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter should follow Captain America: The First Avenger. (*)
Marvel One Shot: Item 47 should follow The Avengers.
and Marvel One Shot: All Hail the King should follow Iron Man 3.
There are a couple more but I never cared for them.
(*) Since the Agent Carter T.V. series isn't considered canon this One Shot fits into the MCU.

Good reaction Cristy. Btw I'm former Navy Special Warfare and I could possibly get in trouble for divulging this publicly, but I'm not too worried. To answer your question, as to if the US government/military is attempting to develop "super soldiers" the answer is YES, since the 1960's in fact. As far as I know, and I certainly don't have all the knowledge because im sure its a top top secret scenario, but there hasn't been much success. I do know however that several government defense contractors have developed military grade performance enhancers. What us essentially a super steroid. Also there is aggressive research in the area of genetic engineering. I've been out of the Navy for over 20 years though so for all I know there could be viable "bio tech enhancement" now. The department of defense is very shady and covert. As they say truth is often stranger than fiction so for all we know there could be a "super soldier serum" in existence. The one thing I'm certain of with the US government via the dept of defense is any way to get an edge on our adversaries you can bet qe are have done or are diligently working on

So... this one is generally considered on of the "bad" marvel movies. The reality is that doesn't mean it is bad. It is better to look at this as a 'low point' movie. If you find it fun and enjoyed yourself, then you are probably going to like the MCU as a whole.
The next thing you need to be aware of is casting changes. There is really only two bigs ones you need to worry about (most people don't even notice the others they are so minor). The first is in the next movie Tony's best friend Rhodey is changed from Terrance Howard to Don Cheadle. They make a funny little line out of his first appearance. The next is changing Bruce Banner to Mark Ruffalow next time you see him in the MCU (this is the last stand alone Hulk movie for now due to distribution contracts and Marvel wanting to be the ones profiting on their own success).
In both cases I feel like the current actor is better in the role (both replaced actors are great actors, I just like the current person in the role better). But it does take some getting used to. By the end of a movie I was good with the change. Will be interesting to see if you agree.

Thanks for the heads up! I just watched Iron Man 2 (video posting this Thursday) and noticed the casting change immediately. And I'd heard about the Ruffalo switch.
And someone else had told me this was one of the "low points" but I really enjoyed it! So I'm excited for what's to come :)

Solid point! I meant that Lou Ferrigno looked convincingly like the Hulk without the need for CGI... but I should've shouted out Bill Bixby as well!
