PS don't pull the whole fork out unless you're going to change the springs leave the forks in only pull the bottom part off of the fork while it's on the motorcycle. There is an allen wrench screw up underneath the very front of the fork
Alright John, great video. And sadly I've got a gl1100 that has the opposite seal leaking. What is strange, is that it didn't leak until I let the air out the suspension (stupid curiosity). Looks a bit easier than I was hoping. I'm now living in ohio, but originally from Liverpool. Are you from the West Mids?. I lived there for a decade, before I left for the states. Apologies if yam from black country!!
Yes whatever you do leave the forks in the motorcycle you only have to pull the bottom part off. The island that is right up underneath the center of the fork. Once you have done that pull down real hard a couple times and it will pop off. Everything else is self-explanatory
Thanks for posting this series John I am trying to get a 1200 GW that was abandoned since 2011 going again as my winter project.
Thanks for making and sharing this m8! Nice work!
This was very informative and useful as I probably have to do a fork overhaul next winter. Thanks!

Can’t find screw to remove speed sensor
Where does the compressor line go tnhat puts air in the forks ? I didnt see it on your stripdown... thanks
instead of removing the 10 mil bolts you could have just let all the air out of the tire
