I’ve got to compliment you on the best fork install video out there. You go slow enough and are very clear explaining what you’re doing. There’s a lot going on up front and with me doing new triple tree, rebuilding forks and shock, your vid is invaluable for reassembly.
I would guess the usd fork would leak before a rsu fork would if they were on a bike just sitting around not ridden for a long time. I prefer rsu forks because the shiny slider tube is up higher and away from road debris. But I have bikes with both types and neither are giving me trouble… yet. We shall see.
I'm going to do this job on my 08 Kawi Versys 650. Left fork started leaking at 50k miles. Looking to replace the rear shock with a newer adjustable one from the updated versys.
As I contemplate doing this job myself I wondered if the bushings have a positioning point around the fork. Should the slot go into a particular spot? Near the hole? Opposite the hole? Or somewhere else which is good positioning for them. I am guessing the sliding bushing on the tube can float. Thanks. '14 wing airbag.

Means a lot man thank you!! Glad it is helpful
Man, thats a beautiful Goldwing ! Job well done :)
Thank you! Cheers!
I did this job recently. It took me several days but when I was done I felt like the king of the universe. Great video!
Does an upside down fork leak more than a regular fork when the seals go bad ? 🤔
I have no idea lol When either leak. They just leak. I have seen messy cases on both types.
