Ya, 2 was pretty weak. I replayed it a little while ago when UA3 was announced and it just feels empty when you compare it to the first game. Stripped down from 4 to 2 costumes each (some only have 1). No way to customize your skill load out as every character only gets 4. The only improvement was the team ultimates but even then, the variety was pretty small.
I agree with the statement that MUA 2 was worse than MUA 1 but after seeing the E3 gameplay that was shown, I would say it looks pretty fun. The art style is very different and less gritty but it's not bad per say. The gameplay its self looks to also be pretty fun and like the other MUA games it is much more fun with more than 1 player and is still a party group game at its core. The story doesn't follow up with the Galactus scene at the end of the first game but it seems interesting enough that of should be fine. Granted the storytelling of the first game was superb with the extremely realistic scenes occasionally popping up and the lower budget, definitely can tell its a PS2 game, art style showing up for there mission briefings and although the infinity stone based story in the third game had me worried at first, one of the workers stated that the team had the same worry but unlike infinity war and endgame this game wouldn't just have the avengers and guardians of the galaxy team members teaming up, but would also have the fantastic four and the x-men and other teams that would make it nearly impossible to just do a copy of three movies.
If you haven’t played it yet MUA 3 was actually a very solid game and while the art style was different it was still very good looking when it came to the lighting and particle effects.

The first Ultimate Alliance is actually really fun and has well animated cut-scenes for the time. The sequel is crap. I prefer the PSP version, it' was good entertainment for long car rides.
