  • You think you have what it takes to complete the Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route (WYBDR)? Our group encountered several people in other groups who were injured (some seriously) and unable to complete the route. As we soon found out, we weren't immune to it either. Track with us on days 2 through 4 of our 5 day journey through the beautiful back country of Wyoming.
    --------------------------------------------------------
    The following is a great write up from www.wyomingcarboncounty.com/b... ...
    The Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route (#WYBDR) is the newest addition to the collection of off-road adventure routes and the 11th in the series. The WYBDR is the most remote discovery route in the least populated state. Wyoming's vast public lands made it an ideal spot for the new route. The 950-mile BDR passes through five mountain ranges with elevations approaching 11,000 feet! The WYBDR can be ridden in either direction from South to North or from North to South.
    Riders will experience amazing views and are likely to encounter a variety of wildlife along the route. The route is made up of public dirt roads and primitive double-track lanes. According to the BDR website, "This is the most remote BDR, so plan ahead and be prepared to have a true backcountry adventure." The route usually takes 6-7 days to complete.
    Beginning in Baggs, WY, the route traces the mountain ranges to the east through the Sierra Madre and Medicine Bow Ranges, crosses west to the Wind River Range, then goes back east and north through the Bighorn Mountains, eventually ending at a remote Wyoming-Montana border. Almost every section includes some moderately technical riding, as the remote two-track flows through regions of vast high-desert, short-grass prairies, and alpine climates.

    "The long awaited Wyoming BDR (WYBDR) is our eleventh route developed for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. The Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route is a multi-day off-pavement ride for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles through the most dramatic and rugged landscapes in Wyoming. You will experience expansive views from the summit of two different 11,000-foot mountains, cross two major rim escarpments and pass through many other seldom visited areas and historic mining towns. This is the most remote BDR, so plan ahead and be prepared to have a true backcountry adventure."

      ha! fightin words for some. good to have parts and mechanical abilities regardless of the brand. Fun to see the different brands and better yet get to try them out before making a decision on what to own.

      @RedEAg agree with you Buddy! But they are a bit frail for my taste.

    Injuries and bike issues can mean an unfortunate end of a journey and particularly in those remote areas. Looks like weather and trail conditions were an issue at times. Hope everyone is OK and recovering.

      seems like they are getting back to normal. scary moments for sure. Yes there was hot, cool, windy, and rain all in the same trip.

    I love riding motorcycles in the mountains (on pavement). I spent 10 days in Colorado last year and rode 1600 miles going from Pueblo, to Pikes Peak, on to Aspen, back down to Gunnison, down the Million Dollar Highway to Durango, then back to Pueblo and home in Arkansas. Hauled the bike in an enclosed trailer from Eastern Arkansas to Pueblo, Colorado. Watching you guys off roading is awesome. And Red E rocks...!!!

      it is beautiful isn't it?! that sounds like a great tour you took on the bike and a lot easier to take in the sights the way you did it instead of watching for the next change in terrain that could cause sudden loss of control.

    I don’t have luck with horse trailers when on a motorcycle. Once passing in opposite directions the first was cool and shared the road, the second second almost pushed me off the road into the river. Another time going the same way the trailer kept in the middle of the road for miles going slow (paved section) and not letting me pass, but pulled over for another oncoming trailer.

      Yeah, seems like there may be a trend there unfortunately.

    No one says: "SLOW DOWN" ~. Way way way too fast on that "terrain" ~ R U Kidding me! ~ Just wondering how You Tube would respond to carrying DEAD BODIES. ~ Not gonna lie. I love what you guys are doing ~ but a conversation about SAFETY ~ would be appreciated. What what what ???

    • @RedEAg
      @RedEAg  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      there was some of that safety talk that didn't make the cut in this video but the guys do push it more than most. This kindof activity is more dangerous than most and even skilled riders can hit a washout or bump wrong and have an unwelcomed collision with the earth.

    That was on Beaver ridge. Yeah once you get past the 2nd road to bail. Your committed. I crashed on that rim last year too. We were about half way through it and it started raining on us. And you know what happens with wy dirt and rain. My front end washed out on a slick spot. Me and the bike done a couple of endo's.

    • @RedEAg
      @RedEAg  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      seems similar situation. Looks easy and smooth in video but its a treacherous road of washouts and bumps that can throw anyone off.... then the endos... then risk of bad injuries!

    Much easier for you on the motorcycle to give way to a truck pulling a horse trailer coming down the road on a narrow gravel path. But ya, that’s just my thoughts when I’m out riding

    Was that really blood on his shirt? What were the extent of their injuries?

    • @RedEAg
      @RedEAg  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not the one in the parking lot, they found that shirt and someone ran over a red paint can. His real injuries were internal, bruised lungs, tweaked ankle, and collar bone. He is going fine now but it was scary... He was hurting pretty bad for awhile. Both of the guys hit hard.

    where''s a truck and trailer supposed to go on that road? Yall are riding, I ride. get over. He lives there and yall dont. get over.

      You bring up a good point and we always yield and get out of the way, but in that situation it wasn't normal, there was clearly an axe to grind with this individual. when riders have risk of injury and death because someone is targeting them how is that ok?

    You guys are riding way over your skill level , slow down it's not a race !

      For sure! He is falling over at low speeds. Way too much crap packed on that bike too. Don’t need that much.
