    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +tim ray Rear end gears are 3.73:1. The trans is a T56 Magnum with the wide ratios (2.97:1 1st and .5:1 6th).

    • @mrschwifty5564
      @mrschwifty5564 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +tim ray It's 1700 rpm at 80. A lot quieter than the auto which was 2500 at 80. Fuel economy is 20 mpg if highway only. I don't do much highway only driving though.

      Chase Swanton i had a 2001 f150 5 speed manual and for whatever reason didnt come stock witha tach. Ended up stealing one that had one from a junkyard and putting it in, had to take it to a dealership to get it reflashed. Guy at the dealership told me it would work but that he would try. Should have seen the look on his face when it worked.

    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MJorgy5 It doesn't do too much just-highway driving. I've had a few tanks that have averaged 20 mpg. If I did all highway and took it easy, I'm sure it could do better. It's hard to drive it easy with the manual though.

Have you checked fuel milage by the way driving normal on the highway by chance compared to.when it was an automatic? Just picked on my lighting engine to go in my 97 Lariat 2wd. @AaronDC8402  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@19jody72 6th gear is fine for the highway for me. If I'm towing anything and driving through the East TN hills, I end up back and forth between 5th and 6th a lot. I have the 0.5:1 6th which is what I would suggest. Unloaded on the highway I get 20mpg. I used to get 16 with the auto. The only thing I might have done different would be to put a higher quality clutch in the first time. I just changed my clutch at 25,000 miles. It was already down to the rivets.

      Dynatech long tube headers, high flow cats, 2.5" Bassani cat-back with the silencers in the tips.

    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a 5.4L Supercharged V8, like all 2nd gen Lightnings came with. I took your comment to mean, "the exhaust sounds so bad, it must be a V6."

    What kind of clutch and transmission did you install??? Did you get improved time in 0-60 and 1/4 mile?? Thanks.

    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clutch is American Powertrain single organic disc for Ford mod motor. Transmission (also from American Powertrain) is a Tremec T-56 Magnum with wide set gear ratio. I haven't taken the truck to a track since getting the manual in. I'm hoping to do that this spring or summer. It definitely feels faster. The gear ratios are better than the auto, and there is less parasitic drag on the drivetrain now.

    willing to sell this truck? I want a manual lightning (like 99-01 or so) but won't ever buy a lousy automatic in any car i own.

    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would sell it, but only if it was for enough money that I would want to do it all over again. The manual Lightning is awesome, but you could put one together yourself for cheaper than buying mine. I don't intend to be offensive, I just really like my truck.

      AaronDC8402 no I understand I figured that . I was trying my luck lol.
      Did you do al the labor yourself ?
      How much in parts round park was it with transmission and all... and maybe how many labor hours ?

    • @AaronDC8402
      @AaronDC8402  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did all the labor myself except for cutting the passenger seat bottom cover and my shift boot. No idea on amount of labor. I was doing the first Magnum install into one of these trucks, so there was a lot of time figuring it all out. I made a good write up on the LightningRodder forum that would save that time. Figure about $6500 in parts and incidentals.

    Shit this is fucking badass. Idk why ford didnt gave the option of a manual trans.

    • @IamManateeMan
      @IamManateeMan 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the reasoning was that they didn't have a manual transmission at the time that could take all that torque, but that sounds kinda ridiculous when you look at what can be done with stock supra transmissions from around the same time
