Hey, I love your taste in all your audio gear. I'm at that age now close to retirement, my boys are grown men and finding audiophiles like you on You Tube to expand my knowledge of audio is the icing on the cake. Man,this is addictive stuff. There is nothing like coffee and my music to enjoy. Thanks for the visit to the candy store. I just subscribed.
Interesting....A kindred spirit I put away my equipment for 30 years while my kids were growing up. But these last 2 yrs, i have easily spent 6k on new equipment. I am seriously think about these Monitor Audio silver 100. Yep its additive !
Thank you for your review. Personally, I enjoy the sound of the Bronze 100 and the precision of the Silver 100 tweeter, and I'm a fan of Monitor Audio. I hope you will also review Bronze 500.
I had a Bronze 100 previously but I changed to Silver 100 which is the sound a far better compared to the Bronze 100. The Silver 100 sounded crispier ,better bass and clearer vocals.
Having auditioned both in my home and with over 30 years audiophile experience, the Silver 100 was obviously ahead of the Bronze 100 in every way and worth the extra money. I would say the Bronze is 80% of the speaker the silver is. The finish on the Bronze especially was much cheaper in feel and with my setup sounded noticeably more resonant and boxy. I also feel the Silver 100 has amp and source upgrade headroom over time which would be less beneficial if you had the Bronze.
I recently auditioned a Bronze 100. For an entry level speaker, it sounded fine. I then listened to a Silver 50 (they didn't have a 100). The difference was quite surprising, far greater than the price differential would suggest. This made me a big fan of the Silver series. Sadly, they didn't have a Gold 100 for additional comparison.
there is a paid of silver 100's close to me, £350, possibly less if haggled, one set had a slight chip in the bottom middle, other than that they look great condition, i was thinking of pairing it with a denon avr x1700h, and then i would need a center and a sub, i would use it all for movie watching mainly, thoughts/input on center/sub to get?
Very usefull review, I am hoping to get either the MA Silver 300 G7 or the 500 G7, for use as main hifi but also front for part of an atmos set up, I was toying with the idea of going bronze for the surround part of the system as its about half the cost of silver surround option, think after watching your video the Bronze looks like a great option for the surround set up :)
I have a pair of MA Silver 200 7G and am looking for a centre speaker. I am debating between the bronze C150 or the higher lever silver C250 (and twice the cost almost). Since you seem to have similar perspectives to mine, what you go with ? I want better clarity for dialogue when listening to movies. I have an old Dahlquist center speaker and find myself having to augment the volume a lot to better hear the voices, then dropping it once an action scene starts. Thx!
Hey! Thanks for watching! Alas I don’t have a great answer for you as I have yet to hear either centre channel. I can only speculate, but I believe the Silver centre has an extra midrange driver which the 200s do not. Whether the mid range driver be beneficial or not would be the question. Sorry I couldn’t help more!
I have thr Bronze 100 as my mains. They're great for the money. I think the center channel os just okay. I wish there was a bronze series three way center. I don't expect it will happen but excuse to upgrade again one day!
I was just scavenging for my "first nice level bookshelf speakers" and was thinking about the Bronzies 100s, which i found new for 400 euros here in Italy. To me it sounds like a bargain, what do you think about it?
@@0102studio BTW- thanks for the good content youre consistently putting out - your advice sounds like the type of advice your music aficionado friend would give, with all the good aspects related to this approach. Keep up the good work!!
@@atziluth12 Thank you, you just made my day! I try to keep my videos to the perspective of a buddy who just got some new gear and wants to talk about it. Non technical and fun.
Even before I started researching reviews, the Silver 100 7G caught my eye because of that geometric pattern in the woofer. I love the way it looks. And now, having listened to a pair (in walnut) for several months, I love the big, open, dynamic, detailed, punchy sound of them, too. But I get a lot of pleasure out of just looking at them, even when they're not doing anything but looking handsome.
I try so hard to get excited about Monitor Audio and I just can't get there. Obviously it's tough to parse what people say in reviews, but an awful lot of what I hear makes me think they'd sound like I would have expected them to sound -- metal-drivers, smile-shaped presentation, needs 90dB to sound cohesive. Maybe I'm just too old for that company's house sound.
Well, fortunately there are a ton of alternative options out there. For me, they don’t sound metallic at all. Not this new gen of products anyway. If you have a chance to listen to them give them a shot.
@@0102studio I'm heading to Bangkok in two weeks for a single whirlwind shopping day, so it costs me almost nothing (time, only--which is more precious under these circumstances) to give them a shot, and your review has me thinking that I could like them a lot more if I wasn't paying Silver-100 prices for them. This was a sneaky good and, for me at least, sneaky important review. I woke up this morning still thinking about it. I can bag the Bronze 100's here locally for under $400 and in my poured concrete room I seriously doubt they'd need a subwoofer, at least in the near- and intermediate term. Thank you.

@@klauspeterpeter8278 you should give them a listen if you can. And do what your budget allows. I have not heard what you’re proposing so ‘better’ would just be a guess.
Can't go wrong with either speaker. Like the man says, budget conscious? Bronze offer exceptional value. The dimensions aren't identical, super close though, the bronze is 1mm bigger in hight and width but 7mm less in depth. Bronze is vinyl wrap and youll see the front and back panels look like caps and have a lip on them. The silver is real wood veneer and seemless. Different grilles, personal opinion but the oval look on the bronze, well if id just throw them in the bin. The silver weigh approx 20% more overall. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for greater quality finish and something more audiophile like in sound, the silvers are definitely the go. They're absolutely the superior product and definitely worth holding off that month or two in order to put away a few more dollars, though in saying that, you'd be silly to over extend and put undue financial stress on yourself. The man has hit the nail on its head with this video. Both speakers offer exceptional value whichever camp you're in.
