I'm pretty sure it got game of the year, definitely appreciated and still one of the greatest horror games to exist. There hasn't been another game like this which is why it will hold it's weight for years to come.
All I could find was that it won the "audio achievement" BAFTA award. I don't remember it being selected as the game of the year at all. Also I've read that it was seen as a "commercial failure" as it did not sell as much as expected. I agree that it's in terms of design, gameplay and soundtrack the best horror game ever made. I still remember when I was going through the survival mode in stages, I decided to go around the xenomorph through the ventilation, and he seemed to be following me by smell, seeing from the motion detector that he was already approaching the entrance to the ventilation where I had climbed before, i climbed very quickly towards the exit, when I was already starting to get out, I heard him in the ventilation, checking with a detector, I saw him flying through it. I immediately ran to the door and a moment before it closed, he almost grabbed me. It was the most adrenaline-pumping adventure.
You shouldn’t run ever when the Xenomorph is around period no matter the difficulty. On nightmare it’s pretty much instant death if you get caught or unless if you somehow get away
This is one of the greatest misconceptions in the game. I've just finished my fifth NIGHTMARE playthrough and there are plenty of opportunities to run while the xeno is around: when you're close to a cutscene or interaction that requires an animation even if it's started to chase you the alien will despawn. You can also force him to stop running behind you and slow to a cautious walk simply by turning and holding up either a Molotov or the flamethrower. This allows you to back up slowly another two or three metres to a safe spot.

@@CrowPilotGames4Life I could never I got stuck on parts of the game for hours and had to look at youtube tutorials, I played Nightmare during my first playthrough and realized my mistake 2 hours into the game and started crying at medical it sucked up all the fun and by fun I mean scariness, a scary game is supposed to have it, it was fun the stress and years off my life, I was too deep in the game to quit I've been playing the game for a week straight and still haven't beaten it, I'm at the staircase after getting past seegson or whatever they are called.
I believe every step you take while running leaves an invisible footprint that the alien can see. Once you start walking the footprints stops. Also, this game would hurt sales of other games if it gets remastered to 2023 graphics. Why would anyone want to play anything else?
Even in 2023 the graphics really aren’t that bad. Did NOT know about the footprints thing either, holy fuck. Knowing that could’ve saved countless pairs of pants 😂
to me the graphics look perfect, I'm tired of ultra realistic games. I miss the games that look like video games. If they can fix the facial animations of people that would be great though, they suck :D

I've recently ran nightmare mode with voice activation and beaten it recently. I will say that walking is way better then actual running. Doing so will keep the alien from attacking or chasing you 80% of the time.
I literally watched this like, “Why are you getting out from under the desk?! Just stay safe!” Then the alien looked under the desk and my reaction was literally: 😳 “It can look under the desk?!” 😱

I played this game in nightmare mode during my first playthrough, and let me tell you… I quickly learned not to: 1. Even remotely think of hiding under a desk 2. Run AT ALL (unless the music and the game told me to) 3. Take my motion sensor out unless I didn’t have a damn clue of where to go
This masterpiece went unbeknownst to me for nearly a decade. I only just found this gem and have been playing it nonstop. My wife is sick of all the alien content, either from the upcoming romulus, isolation videos, playing dark descent just to return to isolation again. Now she says I have become obsessed n i think she may be right cuz here i am again. Lol, I have played through AI twice about to embark on nightmare mode next.

@@wimpieyuwono2460 the alien is designed to adapt to your strategies. should you frequently hide in lockers/cabinets it will start checking those. and surely if you hide under enough desks/beds/counters it will look under those too. if you use enough of the same distraction the alien will eventually stop falling for it and ignore them. that isn’t to say don’t try to hide or use your resources at all but use them wisely and sparingly
This game was amazing. I remember playing it and having headaches in the first 2 days. Then I got used to the look and feel of this fps that is one of a kind game. Who enjoys this I know put lots of efforts on learning how to play it. It is not easy.
The greatest thing ive seen in this game is the alien killing a few survivors in a room and then i literally saw it pull a guy up into the vents. Fucking terifying, never seen it do that in the game ever apart from that situation, idk if was scripted event or not
The alien is good at killing the humans that are against you. Just toss in a noise maker and there toast. The only bad thing about is you have the alien around you.

Fede Alvarez the writer and director of romulus actually played this game while shooting romulus and it resulting in an entire rework,rewrite and reshoot of the entire film. He was quoted as saying, "I was exploring the alien universe for inspiration and started playing alien isolation,I knew after many hours of white knuckling my controller and looking over my shoulder in my room, that I had learned the true meaning of fear" He said that the experience was so powerful to him that it infact caused him to redo everything from the ground up. Romulus was just supposed to be a Hulu release at first. But, after the rework due to isolation's effect it had on him? Others including both James Cameron and Ridley Scott deemed that it was worthy of the silver screen. I have feeling this movie SLAPS! Cuz, it will if he sticks to the formula of isolation like he says he did!
That's why you have to run with only socks on, wool socks at that. I think we learned a lesson here, on spaceship with an Xenomorph alien just go with your socks!

Such a fun game with such high adrenaline the entire time. Every time the alien gets me, I think I lose about a year of my life, but it's too much fun to stop playing.
One of my absolute favorites. Can't count the number of times I've played through it, or the DLC. That said, I can't stand nightmare mode. Having a shitty tracker and even higher increased senses for the alient makes sense. The lack of crafting resources just came off as stupid. You play a competent engineer who can jury rig things like MacGyver could with duct tape and your telling me that she couldn't strip any number of monitors or devices she came across for parts to make a noisemaker? At that point the difficulty is just being artificially inflated for bragging points. I wish there was a 'hard mode' w/ Nightmare variables (such as motion tracker function and alien heightened senses).
I am having temperature, turns out with that thing high all the fear leaves ur body for some reason, usually I would not be able to play it longer than 10 min, but now I just don't care.
To be honest, I can’t see a shi- in this brightness, never played nightmare but if it is this dark, I would have lost in the beginning section, it’s as if true cave in reality, pitch black.
You’re not supposed to run when it’s in your vicinity, period, regardless of any difficulty you’re on. That sixth sense it has can immediately detect if you’re running. Never run in this game unless it’s completely clear or if you absolutely have to. 💯☠️👽😱

It checked under the table, it follows you into vents. I don't think I've ever seen another game where that happens. If you're referring to the alien not spotting him when it was searching that's a system that's in literally every stealth game, the entity needs to have visual contact with the player for a certain amount of time before it will react to them otherwise stealth games would be infuriating. It's got nothing to do with the AI driving the aliens behaviour.

I did that in one of my playthrough. It was easier for me because the table was large. Once i knew the alien was going to duck under I got out.

Yeah the ai ain't even all that it never found me once unless I was stalling or being loud all that stuff about it learning is to stop people from spamming noisrmakers and stuff to make it easy lol.
It checked under the table, it follows you into vents. I don't think I've ever seen another game where that happens. If you're referring to the alien not spotting him when it was searching that's a system that's in literally every stealth game, the entity needs to have visual contact with the player for a certain amount of time before it will react to them otherwise stealth games would be infuriating. It's got nothing to do with the AI driving the aliens behaviour.
