Stan truly grew up. Like many of us he self medicates to get through the day. Some of us take legal meds, some of us drink. He hasn't got a problem but a crutch for his problems. It sad but a reality. Love to all who understand how hard getting through the day is. Love to all. ❤

    • @NovusIgnis
      @NovusIgnis 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

That self medication isn't ever going to help. Like you said, it's a crutch. The only solution is to face the reality of life head on and acknowledge that you bear a part of the responsibility for making it what it is. You have the ability to change and affect your own life and surroundings to make things more bearable.
Most people just never do because it's easier to dose yourself up and go back into the matrix.

@@NovusIgnis I think you misunderstood my friend. Medication is a necessary crutch to keep moving forward for many mental health conditions. We need to take the pills to keep going. There's no harm admitting we can't do it without the medication. Mental illness is not something that can always be cured. Like someone who drinks after hard days it's not a problem to use it as a crutch. It's not a problem admitting you are not enough without the medication. We all have to keep going and keep fighting that's what's most important. Never give up. Never back down. Fight!

The funniest joke about this episode, is that the people in the Aspbergers support group are acting exactly how Aspies act irl. It starts with the stereotypical view that people have of aspbergers, then shifts to how they ACTUALLY act. I know because I am one. This episode is easily one of my all time favorite South Park episodes.

  • @AydenJennerCarroll

This episode kind of hit home for me personally since I actually do have Asperger’s syndrome & Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Asperger’s syndrome - generally connected to the autism spectrum high functioning - is a developmental disorder affecting ability to effectively socialize and communicate.
Kids and adults with this condition experience problems with social interaction and nonverbal communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behavior.
For me, growing up in the early 2000’s, elementary and middle school was really hard. I was bullied, teased and picked on a lot for being different than everybody else. One of the repetitive behaviors I have is that I do talk to myself a lot and reenact a lot of things (movies, shows, etc.) As far as restricted interests, I’ve always loved dancing, which I still do to this day - technically teaching and choreographing dance.
Those with Asperger’s syndrome or Autism spectrum disorder are also very prone to having high levels of stress and anxiety. Some are very sensitive to different sounds, colors, and other things that can cause overstimulation (which does hurt both mentally and emotionally). Example: Aside from dancing, I’m also a Disney lover. We (my family and I) do a lot of trips to Disneyland each year and they offer a special Disability Access Service (DAS) pass for lines at rides and attractions. This is a great aide because most kids and adults with autism can become overstimulated with being in tight crowds and long lines which can lead to pushing and shoving and cause panic/anxiety attacks.
But going to back to the repetitive behaviors and interests, some of that - along with many other techniques - can help with relieving stress/anxietyand calming the nervous system.
It’s quite a lot to tackle for somebody with a disorder like this, but what got me through was having a good support system of family (especially my mom) and really close friends (both from school, dance, & close family friends).

This episode is heartbreaking to watch, especially with how well it tackles depression in a clever and realistic way, really hit me in the feels as I've experienced depression many times in my life and the feeling of utter hopelessness multiple times in my life, even when I was young I felt like everything didn't matter and that I didn't matter, and that led to a lot personal mental struggles I had to and still currently deal with to this day. This show really nails its topics in such a funny and clever way, and this might just be one of my favourites.
What really got to me was how all of Stan's friends and family just shoved his depression aside and treated it as Stan just being a "Debby Downer", acting as if this is a phase when really he is genuinely suffering inside and needs support but much like some people out there they may say they want to help, but deep down they truthfully don't have the patience or commitment to help people. Still, unless you have real friends, family, or people in general that genuinely care about you, you'll just get thrown aside as Stan's friends and family did to him, which led to his alcohol addiction.

this episode hit hard for me as an alcoholic. i'm sober now, but now i can relate to this on a personal level. you're right about there being an part of wanting to make it easier for the people around you, so you try to moderate the amount you consume. but when you're literally dependent on it to get through the day, that never works. its like a million times more addictive than coffee or weed or any drug i've done. the only thing that really helped me was checking myself into a clinic and getting myself piss tested every week. i'm never touching the stuff again.

These last two episodes was a metaphor for the show itself and how Matt and Try felt. They had yet to renew their contract and this was when they made 14 episodes split in two periods a year. So that previous episode we had to wait 5 months thinking that when they came back that would be the end of South park because Matt and Trey had grown tired of the show. But they reached a deal of 1 more 14 episode season then only 10. And they got the idea that with 10 episodes they could test out serialization with some parts carrying over in smaller ways. Until election year where the A, B, C and D plots would connect and continue as one big story.
Getting to do less, and being allowed to mess with the format. That was the creative spark which made them sign a new 4 or 5 season contract.

Mixing harmful consequences as your view of the real world. Idealizing the unhealthy parts. Even to the point of convincing themselves that being rotten is a privilege.

Kyle's a decent guy most of the time, but episodes like these show that he can be a real L friend. Kyle is the type of dude to switch up on you as soon as he sees some benefit for himself, while acting like he doesn't do anything wrong. Then he has the nerve to be pissed off when he gets the short end of the stick.
If he didn't want to be Stan's friend anymore, for _whatever_ reason, that was up to him and that's fine. But the first thing he does is get all the guys to lie to Stan so he wouldn't know they were excluding him, instead of being straight-up and honestly telling him what was going to happen. Then he's talking trash behind Stan's back to his girl, basically calling him a lost cause, and then trying to use Cartman to fill the hole left behind.
    City-sized L for Kyle.

I agree. Love Kyle but this episode does not do any favors for him. Same with the Covid specials. He will lie right to Stan’s face if it benefits him and in a way expects Stan to be okay with it because Stan has learned to be the kid in the group that ‘lets things go’. But if Stan does stand his ground them Kyle gets mad and wants things to go his way. Kyle giving up on him so easily was a douche move.

Man, I've had downer friends before and it's SO draining over time. They expect you to fill them up over and over as they drain you. To me, it's them being egomaniacs--they think their suffering is so profound compared to everyone else. They think THEIR epiphanies about the meaninglessness of life are somehow unique. Reality check--we all suffer and all of us realize life is kinda meaningless! Deal with it and enjoy life while you've got it! You don't have it for very long.
