It's understandable that Guatemala has been an unstable country due to its history; however, I have a hope that my beautiful country will thrive one day as my ancestors (the Mayas) did. First, we need to educate our people, have strict laws and regulations, and improve our infrastructure; we are on our way there. Te Amo Guatemala! 🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹
*Guatemala is insanely powerful* *If Guatemala eliminated certain government policies and foreign involvement within national affairs they would guarantee a better future for millions of Guatemalans* *Guatemala has the most powerful economy in Central America and it hasn't even taken full advantage of all it's lands and resources* *Guatemala has many enemies and they are the ones who have done everything in their power to keep Guatemala down!!!*
The mineral industry of Guatemala includes: The Marlin Mine, a gold mine owned by Montana Exploradora de Guatemala, S.A (Montana), a subsidiary of Canadian company Goldcorp. The El Estor mine, one of the largest nickel mines in Guatemala. A group of indigenous Maya Q’eqchi’ women has launched a precedent-setting legal challenge that could cast a chill over Canada’s vast mining interests
Not any more, global warming has changed the climate in Guate, it even snowed just recently in Xela in the mountains and if I'm correct, in Totonicapán too.
I was at rio dulce! Like 2 or 1 week ago in Guatemala I went to visit grandpa in Guatemala hopefully my loving country can stay strong and look beautiful as always

we need to support our local countries they are a part of us the world a a big puzzle lets put this thing together come love support will thrive lets do this !!
Also some scenes of Star Wars were filmed in Guatemala in Tikal and Volcán de Fuego recently erupted on June 3rd of this year which was a major tragedy but showed how people in Guatemala can be very supportive when needed. Thank you for all your videos Alux!
I’m Guatemalan but look nothing like them Bc of how pale I am hahaha but Guatemala is such a beautiful place to be in its so amazing the dances , fairs, clothing, and everything te amo Guatemala! 🇬🇹💙🤍💙
I can relate as well. I’m pale and don’t really look Guatemalan so people get really confused when I tell them Im Guatemalan. And your right, Guatemala is a wonderful country and I hope to visit my family over there this year!! 🇬🇹
Everyone who can grow cacao can claim. But as an indigenous woman from Guatemala 🇬🇹 the Mayan people used cacao beans as money/medicine in ceremony. Yes I guess in Mexico 🇲🇽 is common as well. Don’t forget we are neighbors and part of the Mesoamerica region with its similarities.
Guatemala is such a lovely country and the people are awesome and so friendly. When I was there , there wasn't as much crime as there is now. For number 2 it's actually called Rio Dulce-pronounced Ree-oh Dool say" I know this because I used to live in Guatemala and was there for twenty years and am fluent in Spanish.
I’m Guatemalan Colombian and Mexican but I usually don’t consider myself guat because I know nothing about the culture I was never taught by my dad because he left
The 16th thing you may want to know about Guatemala: Pirates operated in Belice and eventually took it away from Guatemala. Pirates initially established one of their many operational centers in the very tip of the northern part of Belize to intercept Spanish galleons that travelled in el Caribe to deliver silver and gold and other products from Guatemala to Spain. With no strong control of the region by Spain, piracy became rampart, and the initial center of operation, started increasing in size. It was never the size of what we know at Belice Today. At the time of independence, Guatemala did not have resources to protect its land militarily. In its role as the site of the General Captaincy of Central America, Guatemala acquired the right to the lands as a result of its independence from the Spanish Crown. A Central American union became a mere illusion, as the "nueva burguesia", in each locality fought against a union. Local economic and political interests had become well established and dominant in each region. During a fight for the union Guatemala lost its leader el "Los Llanos de Chalchuapa". No union effort was attempted in Central America again. Would not Central America (CA) have a stronger voice in the forum of nations Today, had a union been achieved? Perhaps, CA would not be, and be considered a bunch of small poor little nations. Unlike other nations, Guatemala was not gifted with petroleum, although some lands taken from it may contain this type of gold. Petroleum is the perfect gift from nature to oil the economic development of a country. Not sufficient military strength, specially to control the remote jungles of Belice, caused Guatemala to make a proposal to the occupiers: Build a road from Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios, and you will be able to stay for 100 years on the condition of returning the land. The road was never built. And, since the piracy business gradually became less and less profitable, the occupiers focused on importing large quantities of slaves to exploit the exotic woods and other resources of that region. I have visited posh rooms and buildings in London, which are said to be veneered with wood from Belice. In some cases, varieties of these exotic woods are extinct. The take over of the land increased. In the mid-eighties Guatemala brought this issue to the attention of the UN seeking to recover Belice. The UN was insensitive to Guatemala's request: It was as if you asked a child to return a toy after he or she him/her has been let play with it. Circumstantially, Guatemala was forced to let the issue rest in 1992 (although, if my memory serves me right, Guatemala still held for some time a territorial claim for the lower part of Belice after 1992) Prior to the decision for Guatemala to be forced to let go of Belice, carriers landed on Belice. At around the same time, Guatemala had been buying Galils, aircraft, and computerized logistic systems from Israel. Yet, this time, Israel offered its own soldiers to help Guatemala, should an actual engagement occurred. (GUA voted in favor of the formation of the state of Israel in 1949 at the UN, and was the first country after the US to move its embassy to Jerusalem; ...a long relationship indeed). Not knowing what to do with this hot issue (short of calling it a hot potato), and confronting a great deal of international pressure, the UN determined: We'll put the decision up for vote from Belice. Well, I will not go on to describe details, but they are obvious. Belice voted for being independent, which also gave it a ticket to become a member of the Commonwealth. (I am actually trying to recover some land in GUA, even though I inherited the title from my mother, and literally hold the piece of paper in my hands. It is not a pleasant or easy experience.) In the present, the territory of Guatemala reflects losses of land to Mexico (at the very least Chiapas and Tabasco...too long ago since I read about it. I'd like just to incite curiosity on this subject not write a thesis), and the loss of Belice, due to the interplay of a series of geopolitical events, and actors that can be inferred easily. Lastly, and unfortunately, the loss may also be attributed to the loss of steam of the union effort in Central America; headed by Guatemala. El Salvador won the battle against the efforts of Justo Rufino Barrios, then president of Guatemala. After that, a union merely remained as an unachievable dream. Land take overs happened everywhere in the New Continent. Mexico lost California, New Mexico and a part of Colorado to the US. Mexico must know the taste of such a misfortune too. Then by domino effect Guatemala ended up being dismembered by Mexico; as if that had not been enough, the loss of Belice followed. I miss that part of the map I used to see when I was in elementary school in Guatemala. I left my Guatemala about 35 years ago and have returned to visit almost every year. My whole family remained there, except for this nomad that has lived 20 years in various states of the US, 5 years in London, and 7 in Berlin Germany...3 undergraduate degrees including Humanities, and ISE engineering, then, postgraduate in SAE, and MS in SE. I have always thought that it is not the same to spend a long vacation or work for one or two years on an international assignment. It takes time to learn about and understand a new culture. Although I have missed Guatemala, I think that the benefit is that I can savor Guatemala more deeply and more objectively. I understand its struggles. I think it is time to forget about dinners and martinis at the Carlton Club, the Ritz on Piccadilly Street, try a Zacapa Centenario once in a while away from home, concerts at music centers, dinners at embassies, the social clubs by invitation only, and tell my dear nephew in San Lucas Sacatepequez: Mijo, vamos al parque a tomar un atol de elote, comer una enchilada con bastante repollo de conserva y veamos a los patojos jugar pelota. Entonces, ya en el parque, le diria al oido: Mijo: Belice es de Guatemala.
Don’t know about that. The country is on the top 5 for the most murders. And they have way more crimes than the US and other various European countries. Gotta do some extensive research. And probably where you live at. It’s safer than some US cities. And safer than some European cities.
Hello Alux! The moment I saw the content of your channel I completely felt in love with it. Can you please do a video like this about Cuba. I think Cuba is one of the most beautiful countries and destinations in the world, and it makes me sad that not a lot of people knows to much about it.
