I had my cricut a very long time before I started using it. My daughter bought it for me and I was afraid I'd break it. She finally told me she'd rather I broke it than not use it. Then I found the YT page Makers Gonna Learn. They make it very easy to learn. I'd watch a video and literally use my cricut while watching. My son tells me I'm technologically illiterate, and I'm nowhere near as artistically talented as you are, so if I can figure out how to use my cricut (without breaking it!), I know you can!
@brandyxxwine I was, too! I still get frustrated with design space, but Im slowly learning. I'm not artistic in the least, so.... Makers Gonna Learn has a lot of very basic (remedial even - that's what I needed!) videos. I have **not** joined their paid membership either. I'm going to go look for the first video I followed along with and share it here.
I'm doing a decluttering bingo board with individual projects or spaces that need to be refreshed and cleaned to create a clearer space. I made 25 squares and I'm putting a sticker on each one when it's checked off.
Washi sticker paper!! Now that is something I would like to try out. I am sitting here fussy cutting stickers again while my Cricut sits and mocks me. 😂
I have failed miserably with my goals these past weeks. I'm back to survival mode, lol. I'm hoping to get my own office done and fine tuning our finances. If I can do that I'll call it a win, lol.
I know exactly how you feel! This is my busiest time of year work wise (at least with meetings and running around) and it feels like I'm barely treading water, but I know I'll get through it, and so will you!
This is so valid and real oh my god. This month has been abysmal for me lmao. It really does help to just go back to the basics when things get to be too much. All I can manage now is getting enough sleep and water 💀
Love love love your videos! So often, as I am new to journaling and looking for what just fits for me, I watch various videos, and so many times they just yammer on without showing us what they’re actually doing. Your videos are so informative and inspirational! You have given me so many great ideas. Thank you so much. Keep them coming girl!
After having an awful summer I decided that I want to focus on my goals. So I'm doing your course and for September my main goal is to declutter and revamp my craft room
For the core collections, I use the index some, and then I only do daily logging. I use outlook for monthly/weekly calendar stuff since my work uses them, so it doesn't make sense to transfer everything back and forth. My bujo is mostly for personal growth and planning such as reading journaling, exercise tracking, and habits. This month my projects are basically to get ready for a trip we have coming up over Labor Day weekend and to do the magical readathon! I have dedicated spreads for each.
I have just started 4 months leave from work, so I'm going to use the last week in Aug to set up my Sept, focusing on my goals and actually achieving them. I want to look back and be proud that I didn't waste this time. Also fitting in a few cruises. Thanks heaps for the inspiration Jess, you are Awesome and I love your spreads.
I'm so glad I watched this video. The layout is gorgeous! I love the combination of the stickers and the preprinted text, you make it look so easy! I have a similar layout style, so coming here to get new ideas for inspiration. Use your cricut if you have one! I recently got the maker 3 after saving a lot over time and love it. I make a few vinyl text, but love the writing with a pencil function. Still figuring out, how to use it for journaling. But making Book Covers for my journals is a must! Btw. I still use the quarterly setup, just created a beautiful fall setup, with the many sticker I have by now ;) It's such a joy, to flip through old journals and reflect what changed.
it took me far too long to work out that that a ribbon with the hearts, and not arms! seriously, the one on the self care bingo page especially just looks like a pair of arms coming out of it, with a thumbs up! can't wait for your vlogmas! I love that you do it for the whole of December, rather than stopping on the 24th/25th, since it means I get a video on my birthday every year😂😂! it's a good present imo, when everyone else forgets with Xmas finally being over, and then gearing up for new year. September's goal for me is two fold: stabilise my health (again), and get used to this new normal (again) so I can carry on with actually living!
Haha at least the ribbon heart is cheering me on 😂 glad you’re excited for Vlogmas! I’m looking forward to it too 😈 already got some videos scheduled out (I’d say planned, but they don’t have talking points yet 😂)
To be honest I am still figuring out the cores collections. I started bullet journaling in nov 2023. I still find the journaling part of the method hard. Also I am still experimenting with layouts. So I just need to keep going and figure out what I want. Do love the videos. The vibe and everything makes me at ease.
Glad you enjoy the videos! 💜 can totally understand how the journaling part can be tricky. I still find journal style logging in my system is great outweighed by task recording
I seem to do the most with my weekly spreads, though I'm experimenting with more monthly spreads. Project-wise, I'm looking across the semester because I'm developing a semester-long tabletop simulation game. It's been a "build the plane while flying it" project over the last few years, but I need to nail it down a bit more so that I can justify giving it so much of my "professional productivity" time on top of my "teaching" time. The joys of post-secondary ed, at least in the U.S., include that even if teaching is the main focus of your job, that probably means it's something like 65% of your job, and you need to demonstrate how you're doing the rest of it, aka "publish or perish."
This set up is absolutely stunning!!! I adore the Queen of Hearts vibes and am now desperate to see a cheshire cat one or even do it myself! My September goals are gonna be pretty simple personally: I want to get a good start for this new school year and I need to try and improve my mental health. These last few weeks my mental health has really tanked, and with the new semester starting I need to get that sorted or I’m going to be floundering all semester. I was also thinking though, maybe I could make a bingo board for all the crochet projects I’ve started but never finished 😂 I love the idea and filling things in is my favorite pastime, so maybe that’d be good for me! I just want to say that I’ve only started watching you recently, but you’ve been a huge source of motivation for me these last few weeks so thanks so much Jess!! Much love ❤❤❤
Aww yay! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos and finding them useful 🥰 self care to improve mental health was my focus this month, and I’m looking forward to taking that forward into next month too. Hope the start of semester goes well for you 💪💜
I'm trying to set up some new business planning and tracking setups this month as I am trying to expand my freelancing work into a business. Business goal setting and planning, budgeting, and CPD Continuing Professional Development spreads will all be needed in my new set up. At the moment, these will go into my main bullet journal but I am considering having separate journals for personal and business.
I have a September running task list and also am working on September declutter my house. Its a thing thats like peeling an onion, its happened in many layers. Im getting a little tougher on the clothing im not using. (Like dress clothing that i keep on hangers???). Lol. Thanks for the inspiration! I love how you use mildliners. I have to think about that, too. ❤❤❤❤❤
My project for Sept is going to be myself. I am planning on kinda disappearing from the internet for the month and work on myself and my goals that I have been falling behind on.
I’ve gone back to a regular planner but barely touched it due to a busy schedule as an intern in the hospital where my days are just duty-sleep-repeat. But I’ve been thinking about going back to BuJo life again!! Probably not gonna do a weekly layout so I can actually use the monthly layout for once 😂
That one is a B5 ruler/stencil from Archer & Olive 💜 came in their June subscription box. They sell A5 ones on the website which are similar, but those are currently out of stock I believe 🤔
I am brand new to bullet journalling and have been using your videos to teach me! When you’re setting up a new month with still a week or so to go of the one you’re in how do you work out how many pages to leave yourself?
It’s mainly guess-work that comes from experience really 😝 I have a fairly good idea about the average amount of space I’ll use for each week, so I just allocate as much space as needed based on that average😊 admittedly this month I could have used an additional page, but I’m not super opposed to just continuing daily logs in the next month if need be 🤙
Jess Would you please (or have you Already) done a list of the pens you find best for doing the highlight lines in your journal? Being new at this, I don't I have any. I know they are Tombows but what are the colors? Thank you, SOOOO much for including the link for the washi Sticker paper. I have been wanting some of that. Christina 🦝
@@KennaDC Yes this is true. One pen is listed. That is not the only one she uses. I was wondering and hoping she might have a separate list of all the ones she finds most helpful for doing the highlights. If I am going to start buying I want to start with the most Useful. 🦝
6:17 i’ve never used an index to its full extent, i think there was one in my first journal then due to chronic underuse it was cut in my following journals. however i am changing my planning style next year so im considering reintroducing it (although i would have to number the pages myself 😭)
The pre-planning is THE worst lol. I try to do simple but I end up not liking it and don't use it much but if I want something more original the amount of work gives me procrastination syndrome. Life is drama lol (I'm using your printing tip again this month. Was a saver last month thanks)
2025 will be year 5 for me doing a 13 week quarterly work plan, and I understand the worry of the days in December that spill into New Year Week one. Past me freaked out and allowed her OCD to put her off a few times, current and future me are like... "Woman.. just "ghost" in the days from last month/year that barge into the New Year so you aren't putting day 1 in the middle of a week... When I say "ghost" I mean I use a light grey to put those days on the calendar. For Instance, Jan 1, 2025 is on a Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday, Dec 30 and 31st will be the light grey (box and date number), "Ghosts of the year past," and the new days in black like normal. That is the only way my OCD and ADHD brain can get on with it. If I used a color for date headers, luckily, Tombow has color families where you can get a lighter shade of the same one you used for your "non ghost days." I hope that makes sense, it does in my head as I am writing it. Sometimes doing is a lot easier than explaining! :P
Haha I kinda get it 🤙 I figure this year, my “new year” will just start a couple of days early so that the first cycle of 2025 can have a Monday start 😛 I’ve been enjoying the cycles/quarters this year so probably going to continue with them 👌
I use my cricut almost daily! I have terrible handwriting and can’t cut straight to save my life (even with an actual paper cutter). Cricut fixes all that.
