It's intentionally left vague in the comic book. She returns later in the series.
it was never really explained from what I remember, as jtar says. As much as I loved these Graphic Novels at the time, and the direction as opposed to the subsequent movies, I do think - at over 30 years old - they are a little dated. IMO Alex White's recent Alien Novels are the best addition to the franchise, they aren't shoehorned into canon and feel much more modern.
Just want to say I really like these videos. I could go ahead and read the comic, but there's something to these videos and narrations that give it an interesting feel. Like true accounts of a wartime events.

I really appreciate your in-depth accounts of Earth War its one of my favorite Xenomorph comics even though this isn't canon, to me this comic series and William Gibson's Alien 3 script are far better than the actual Alien 3 we got in the end.
And better than the Prometheus junk we got too........
I really enjoy Alien 3. It's much deeper and more characterful than any of the previous films, and Elliot Goldenthal's score is amazing. But I also enjoy this and Gibson's drafts. It's fun to have three sort of "alternate timelines."
Especially since every other movie has been mostly garbage.

Nah, the big yellow elephant with boring old spacesuit isn't that great design either. If you don't like Scott's big bald albinos, you should check the Aliens: Apocalypse - The Destroying Angels. That respects Giger's biomechanoid design and is a good cosmic horror story as well.
I agree with you. The elephant like creature design is unique and its telepathic. Why couldn't they have used something similar to this design instead of Pinhead from Hellraiser without the pins.

Seriously, your videos (and the comics that I never read) bring a real light to my days. Saw the notification for this on my phone at the doc office and saved it for a time I was struggling with extreme depression. Well, this video and my dog help. Thanks, man. I'll have to tell you about my Alien halloween costume from 2008 ... I should re-create it ... I'll write instructions and outline it. It was AWESOME! (Hint: it was unexpected, lasted a few seconds, and made a girl vomit)

The space jockeys seem big enough that the xenomorphs wouldn't be as big of a deal for them. Especially with their tech.
Can you imagine what one would look like if it came out of a jockey?? Huge and even weirder looking.
And that is an underutilized aspect of the bugs. They can take on physiology traits based on the host. Not just proportionately sized to hunt them in melee, but possibly capable of psionic attack at the drone stage.

This stuff is way more interesting than the movies.
That ship looked similar to the one from "Prometheus". I do think the xenomorphs were created by the engineers. This might explain why they left one planet because of the consequences of what the black ooze would do. I think what David did could be the same to what the engineers did long before the events of "Alien".

The novelisations clarify that Homeworld (Earth Hive) isn't Ripley's Hiveworld (Female War). This has to be the case, or Hicks' nukes never worked?
The two planets appear quite different. Different ecologies, hive structures, etc.
Additionally, if the Government knows where the Homeworld is, and has been there, there's simply no need for Ripley to have seen its location in the message from the derelict.
They must, logically, be different worlds. Hence, Homeworld and Hiveworld.
Poor newt as much as i like the xenos i do have to remember that they do cause a lot of death and sadness

From the comments, it seems like Long Nose was supposed to be the original version of the Space Jockey as opposed to the Bald Men in the films. Is this accurate?

For more context, the Earth War was released before Alien 3. That’s why the Xenomorph in the comic is almost universal no matter what it’s spawned from.
Of all of the atrocities done to the alien franchise with Prometheus, the changing of the space jockeys from elephant thing to giant human like things is the worth crime

syntaxed2 The overall destructive capabilities and after effects of a nuke (if multiple nukes were dropped, you’d have an extended, global nuclear winter), such as the massive amounts of radiation would more than likely do the trick. Realistically it would be decades before repopulation would be possible, and more than likely during that time, the Xenomorphs would probably die out, or be so reduced in numbers that it would be possible to clear them out.

The novel version of the Earth war is just... Meh? As it went on it got worse, parts of it were good but others just felt like bad fanfiction.
