      Btw it is easy to stuff a 12” travel coilover in a JK-JL/JT not very many shocks with 12” of travel paired with springs meant for that type of travel for those platforms.
      Sure a solid king, Fox, radflo, bilstein bypass shock is better than a single coilover which is why race cars & ultra4 run both.
      You don’t see anyone racing on springs & shocks for a reason & it isn’t to look cool

    • @Ryon_Davis
      @Ryon_Davis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adidas4275
      Most aftermarket suspension kits for the JK, JL, JT come with triple rate coil springs. And how many people have multiple springs they swap out on their road driven rigs? This guy couldn't even regularly grease his control arms.
      As for "stuffing" a 12" coilover in any of these platforms. What's the gain over the investment?? To actually use that travel involves new upper and/or lower mounts. If you're gonna use it correctly. Otherwise you'll end up with gobs of bumpstop and limit strap. Which you might as well do anyway to avoid damage to the coilover. At this point you might as well long arm it and do new driveshafts. The OP was stating his want to invest in coilovers was for the ease of having them rebuilt, and not having to replace them. Not the need for more travel. I'd personally rather a better dampener than more travel I might not use.
      And since we all drive racecars/ultra4 cars. I love a good apples and oranges comparison. Both 4600 Ultra4 stock class cars I've competed in have coil springs and run 14" travel shocks. Since this would be the closest thing to compare to a road legal vehicle. So yes, I have seen people racing on springs and shocks.

    Everyone gets excited about flex joints and greasable joints but in my experience they require a lot more maintenance and just get tore up. Who really wants to hit 20-30 grease fittings as part of routine maintenance? A full set of control arms is 16 fittings alone. Add track bars, drag link, ball joints, ujoints, drive shafts and so on you end up with a million things to grease.

      Well they don't come with boots, but boots tend to just trap in mud and end up being bad for your shocks.

    • @daedrick

      When your chuck are leaking, your bump stops are ripped off or deformed, your leaf springs are snapped...
      His suspension was perfectly fine. As he stared his fox shocks were perfectly good and its the bulk of it.

    I'm assuming you got sponsored by teraflex which is great but those evo arms are imo better. Johnny joints are fine in salt if you grease them like you should. At least they are reliable, flex a ton, rebuildable, etc.

    • @TheStoryTillNow
      @TheStoryTillNow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to drop the arms to grease them, otherwise the nipples point down and get sheered off every time you scrape a rock. It's a huge hassle, especially in the winter. Nothing wrong with that if you're in a dryer climate where you don't have to do it as often. Here it's nothing but wet most of the year.

      I don't really feel a need to go bigger at this point. It would be a lot of money/upgrades for something that would basically just decrease my fuel economy. I want to be able to do long range travel.

    OMG the best part about this video is watching you wash your vehicle. Nice, smooth, dedicated pattern no Spazzy wand whipping everywhere. This is how I explain it to my boys. Grab hold of the wand, (before water comes out) and move it around like an idiot. DOes that wash the car? Is the car getting clean? NO. Ok now let's turn on the water pressure. Just hold the wand (not too close) steadily and slowly move over the dirty parts. Wow, the dirt falls away. Question, is it the spazzy movement that washes the dirt, or is it the water pressure that cleans the car? Thank-you for enabling me....LOL.
