I was so close to getting the K7 or K3, but then I remembered that I sometimes miss keystrokes on "Flat" or "low profile" keyboard. In the past I used to use a "Qisan Cyborg Soldier 3" which was an RGB gaming keyboard, and I then switched to the "Corsair K55 RGB Membrane Gaming Keyboard" which I used for the longest time. I have a Sony Vaio Laptop (since 2013), which has low profile keys, but I will still occasionally miss keystrokes. I'm so glad I got the K2, as it has the perfect feel for me, and is very comfortable for me.
A major drawback to the K2 V2 is that it does not work with Via (or any other macro programming software). The only option for remapping keys is to use a purely software solution - you have to run software on the computer that your keyboard is connected to and you have to keep it running for the remapping to work. If you use the keyboard on a different computer, your macros won't be available like they would if you could actually program them into the keyboard with Via. Really disappointing for anyone who likes the macro feature that most mechanical keyboards support.
I truly agree with you, I've just gotten my K14 and the ergonomics really sucks. My wrist gets tired very easily after typing for a while, heck it even gets tired after typing all of these because of the height of the keyboard. Some of us will need a wrist rest if we want to use keyboards with this kind of height
I got a Keychron K5 SE low profile precisely because of that concern. I don't like wrist rests and their regular keyboards looked pretty thick. Several reviews I've seen backed that up. Very happy with the low profile. I was concerned about the flatter keys, but it's not bad.
Nice video! You probably already know this but there's a low profile Keychron, I believe the K3, which is quite good apparently. It would be a closer typing experience than the MacBook keyboard and maybe with a padded or hard wrist rest it would make it more comfortable and painless to you. Might be worth trying it out since it comes with the same features
@@earlmalaki Nice, make sure to review it if you ever get your hands on it, I'd enjoy watching it! And btw I found your vid bc I wanted the K2/RK84 but today I just went allo out and pre ordered the Keychron Q1 and oh man I'm so excited haha
I've been thinking about getting the K2 as my first mech keyboard too. Did you get the aluminum frame or the plastic one since I can't decide if it's worth the extra bucks
@@Zeihara I got the plastic. I don't think it's necessarily worth going all out on your first board. I'm very happy with my board and will likely get an upgrade next time I buy!
@@stevele5858obviously not the correct one! I had to try a couple before I found the perfect rest. Everyone is different though, I have the most basic K2, with a random wrist rest from Amazon, for me it's spot on.
Your wrist shouldn’t rest the desk or the wrist rest. Your fingers should float over the keys. Putting the weight of your upper body on your wrist is not good.
Wrist rest is a way to go. I use it daily, designing and typing and even gaming. On the other hand I never had any problems adjusting to a keyboard. Trust me if you did not satisfy your needs with K2 do not waste money on K3. There are a lot of options there for you. LK67 is a great option, or if you have money, buy the Q1 from Keychron. Maybe some AKKO keyboards could help you. I am amazed you went to a Mac keyboard after a mechanical one.
thanks for the suggestions! i'll check those out. me too! I didn't expect to be okay going back to macbook keyboard. it's worth mentioning that the m1 macbook 2020 keyboard is more clicky than my previous macbook 2015, hence i kind of like it, even if it's not as satisfying as mech keys.

nice review i just got my keychron k2 v2 for coding. i came from a low profile logitech keyboard k380 and I am happy with my decision
Did you buy the wrist rest as well?
Which gatreon?

May I ask, how did you sell it? I’m thinking about selling mine
Palm rest?
Just wondering, your version doesn't have the keyboard feet?
Great point thanks for sharing

It vary from person to person and their uses
Have you tried the K3 V2 which is low profile?
haven't pulled the trigger yet haha but it'll most probably be the next keyb I'll try soon
I currently use the k3 white backlight red switch, I don't recommend you use it if you want the sound to be good
Where did you sell? I want to sell my latest K1.
facebook marketplace. plenty looking for keychron out there haha
Did you use the v1 or v2?
Been trying to decide between the k2v2 or an RK84, height is one consideration, so enjoyed the video
rk84 is better
@@OrlandoLeal I got the keychron, no regrets
boba silents switches are reaaaaaaaaaaaally nice on it too

nice video bro. I've been looking at this keyboard for a long time but i have the same concern. thanks for this.
Hey there is one, I think the k8 has a low profile keyboard with optical switches!!!
I'm currently on K3V2 optical, been using this since last year and I really like it! haha
you could have just bought a palm rest... but the k3 solves your problem yes, it's typing experience is good but not as good as a real mechanical kb
You should have gotten a wrist rest with your Keychron.
He did

Finally, the justification that I needed to not buy thiis. I wonder if wrirst rest helps and definitely not that much. Gotta get the low profile
Yes it does fix all the pain for me, plus put half of keyboard leg out.
At 3:00.
same issue here, gonna try cherry profile keycaps, they should be a bit lower.
i tried xda profile keycap and linear switches (akko cs silver), i like it better haha but this is on a different keyboard (royal kludge rk96)
No, if you want a low profile keyboard, you can get a low profile keyboard. So keep the K this height. Duh.

Comparing a good keyboard to the worst keyboard (macbook). Nice
You should have got hand rest
Get a wrist rest man
Using a K3 now happy without wrist rest so far hahahaha
