Pulling a boat by hand: attach the line one third of the way from the bow to the stern, on the gunwale. As you pull, the bow drifts outwards.
(Former Watermanship instructor) 🙂
I bet 100s of folks did a facepalm when they read this ;-)
Sounds like a spring line to me!
You’re absolutely correct, didn’t see you posted the solution already
On the side you are on, or the outer side? Still struggling
@@lauralake7430 on the side you are on
I think you guys must be the hardest working couple on TH-cam! Big admiration…🇨🇦
Wow, thank you!
I am sure you 2 have got some kind of Time Portal you access ? As it amazes me where you get all this energy and time from to do all this work as well as bringing up a family your work ethics are exceptional
Thing about you pair is
1/ Your ability to see clear, simple, intelligent, solutions to problems.
2/ How you never get overawed by the immensity of the project.
3/Your infinite ways of getting stuff done.
Just brilliant.
Thank you x
Simon looked like a little boy coaxing his paper boat down the gutter in the rain.
Crikey, there are a lot of abandoned boats there!
It’s really very sad and potentially a boat load (haha) of plastic waste.
From what I’ve seen on other TH-cam videos it kind of looks like Florida!
Simon, when you're trying to pull the boat up the creek using the anchor rope/chain, put a rowlock in the front, starboard position, then put the rope/chain behind it. You will find the the boat magically stays away from the shore and glides gracefully down the middle of the channel. Apologies if you already knew this.
Guys. Just a thought, can’t you install a temporary log burner to dispose of your waste and use the heat to dry your boat / resin out a bit quicker ?
That’s a good idea.👍
Remember that, every thing happens for a reason
The wood burner suggestion was made a long time ago. .
A wood stove would be a great thing to have permanently on a boat that size. I'd get one now, use it through the refit, then do a final installation once the cabin is fitted out. I'm planning on getting one for my old wooden boat.
Just have a fire on the grass, tide comes in fire goes out.
I don't know if you have answered this before, but why are there so many abandoned boats there just floating/sunk in the water? It seems like there are way more abandoned boats than actual boats in use.
Hard graft. You are both so responsible about clean up. You’re a great hard working couple.
She's sitting another 2" higher in the water after that purge and haul,... 🤣
I do not know why but I'm always surprised by the about of rubbish that keeps coming off Sarinda. Good use of that new anchor!
Hovercraft from Robbo's powered hang glider for crossing the mud.
That would be cool.
This episode showed how much extra work is required to repair Serenda - really enjoyed it.
Money saving tip.
I had one of those small Mariner 4-strokes. I don't know if you guys are aware but they are actually badge-engineered Tohatsu's. I used to buy Tohatsu spares which were identical in everything but price. My Tohatsu dealer could convert the Mariner part number into the Tohatsu part numbers. The Tohatsu parts were much cheaper, and probably better quality.
Holy moly! So much work done and still even more to do... never had that patience.
Never thought I'd watch a couple taking out the trash.
Team work makes the dream work! I recognized that anchor straight away! 😀
Hi! Just a thought, if you take a long line from a midpoint to the bow you will be able to steer the dinghy instead of pulling it towards the shore
If you already know this please ignore my comment but keep up the good work Steve
It’s a grappling iron, it’s for finding lost moorings or anchors Gemma 👍🏻👍🏻❤️
I must really like this TH-cam channel. Because I wouldn't of waisted 10 minutes & 30 seconds of only trash removal.
Hi, just a small tip. If you need to pull a boat like you do in the beginning of your clip, ty the rope on the side half way of your boat instead of the front. Play a bit with how far from the front it needs to be to direct your boat towards the water instead of the land.
It seems a Boom to lift and swing"rubbish" off the boat and into your dingy would be a good idea. Even if only for temporary use.
Nice goin Simon, bit of drag fetchin the boat Eh! Thanks m8s, keep up the good work!
What’s the story about the dilapidated boats in the area of your boat?
Wow.. Is every boat in the vicinity abandoned? Never seen one move under its own power or intentionally since I started watching the channel!!
After the rubbish tender went walkies in the bad weather, I half expected you to have painted it safety orange just incase she takes another walk
How about an air tag
I thought it was only here at Burrum heads Queensland in Oz where there are heaps of unloved or abandoned vessels, the maritime authority & or town council where you are seem to be very tolerant of the boat grave yard, where as we get notice of seizure threats all the time !
It’s sad to see all those neglected boats around there.
So sad to see all of those boats simply in need of a little love.
The speeded up section could have done with the Benny Hill theme tune playing
It was wonderful to get a mid week update!
The light in amazing ❤️❤️❤️
Take your boat for a walk time!!
You need a long stick to keep the boat in the middle of the inlet. Interesting update 2x👍
Two words never to use together. New Anchor. Say them fast a few times. Brilliant work as ever yous two.
You guys are amazing. God bless you.
good vid on the channel keep up the good vid thanks lee
You should attach the rope to your rubbish boat on the spot where the mast (if it were a sailboat, 1/3rd from the bow) would be, that way it won’t cut into the sandbar every time, but sail nicely through the canal
It was funny watching that motor spin in a full circle under water when it broke off
WOW! If you worked on Sarinda as fast as you loaded and off loaded the tender, you should be done renovating by the end of the week.... 🤣🤣🤣
Sarinda looks extremely tall. Do you have plans for what to do if she rolls even worse (compared to a normal roly-poly HDML) than you’ve expected?
I would love to have a womble around those derelict boats. Some of them look really interesting. I often wonder if any have an iteresting history.
I can't believe that the government has not done anything about the abandoned boats. If you guys know, please tell us. I absolutely love your channels. Cheers from the coast of North Carolina!
Government would rather waste money on “equity” and “diversity” than do its actual job.
The river that runs through my home town has plenty of neglected or abandoned small boats moored up for years and end up sinking, the Town Council are doing nothing about it
Norther California has abandoned boats everywhere. No one seems to do a thing about them, if they are not in a private marina, they are just left as a hazard
Top Job 🤘
Cool video work as usual guys
Wouldn’t it have been easier to put the anchor into the boat and pull it 🤦😂
Picture quality is amazing.
Thanks
Thank you so much xx
a small wood burner would be great on that lovely boat get some free heat
Sorry chopperharley I didn’t read your comment before I posted mine.
Great minds think alike 😂😂
Dont know about checking the fuel tank. Maybe check the engine mounts.....lol
Looks like some bargain boats around where you are. Who owns them and what does the local council say about them? I don't think you would get away with it here in New Zealand. Cheers and keep up the good work. Ian
To the cast and crew😂 of Ship Happens.
The Aurora has sunk at its berth. Authorities trying to prevent diesel 😮fuel spill.
Do you have a burn ban in England on crown land?
If you don't, have you considered having a nice bon-fire with the wood scraps?
Burning man started out small and look at it now.
Maybe start a Surrender-fest?
Question? I don't know if you have discussed this in a previous video. But why have you not built a little floating dock to tie to either side or the stern of the boat?
You need a small landing craft!
Soooo any ( what looks like ) abandoned boats ..... such a shame 😢
The Aurora cruise ship in California is sinking and leaking oil.
Just wondering why you can't move Sarinda closer to the boat ramp.
Depth of water
I’m in awe of you guys 🤔you’re amazing 😊⭐️XX
Is that a marina or where old boats go to die? It would seem impossible for any boats to get past all your mooring lines.
You guys are awesome. The work you do is impressive.
Yall need one of them Banana splits amphibious vehicles lol then you can go ship to the van and back anytime
did you recover the outboard that fell off ?
Sirinda and everything apart, I would like to impart on you the importance, perhaps unappreciated the experience that you are going through, working out of whatever creek you are in. Salt marshes are quite rare things. They are quite unique to England and so rare in most parts of the world.(Ireland) Perhaps what I'm trying to say is, don't look upon the hardships of working out of said creek, but look upon it has a rare experience that you have been blessed with, by virtue of the boat being in the situation she is. My own beginning with boating first began in the creeks and salt-marshes of Warldley's and Skipool creeks (River Wyre) Sixty years years ago, to this day, so memorable.
Fondest regards to you both.
❤ WOW ❤
A 10 minute video, ah damn, you both must be really busy
You need to instal a zip line .👍
Gemma gets it done!
My largest painting of your boat has been completed, I have emailed you a picture if you would like to see it 👍
You are amazingly talented! I love both of them so much!!
Thank you very much!
Where does all the rubbish go? Is there a tip nearby? Impressive progress as usual!
We take it all back to the workshop and have a big commercial bin, costs us about £100 per month just to get the rubbish from Sarinda took away
There seems to be a heck of a lot of abandoned boats in that area .
I've always wondered with all the rubbish you've cleared out of Sarinda over time, when she's at full float does she ride HIGHER in the water for having lost all that weight? I know once you renovate things she'll get heavier again, but is it noticeable?
Apart from ballast, at least as much has gone back in as has come out. Probably more went in because Sarinda’s deck and gunwales are full of holes.
So many derelict boats!
One mans trash is another man's treasure... I'm building a model boat and seeing all those little pieces go to waste is saddening.. Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the earth.
You're very good at generating rubbish! Well done.
Man sure is a lot of derelict boats out there
At 8:00 good to see that the bidet on the tender is working 😂
😂😂
That sure is a laissez Faire harbor
A couple of days ago did you come into Conwy marina on a very sleek motor cruiser .I was sitting on my back deck of a Nauticat and you were brushing something off the stern on the starboard side .You went into a free berth next to the main walkway . I am sure it was you ......innit !
It was us! We were there for the weekend for the Boatlife fishing comp! Have you not seen our other boat before? We have another channel called ship happens adventures
you could go to sleep to that lovely " purr" of that engine.i WILL NOW seek other adventures vicariously by looking at your other website ! TTFN @@ShipHappensUK
Easy - no trick to that. I would help, but not in the area - What? 🙂
A few boats there that look a bit worse for wear - now, now, didn't say Sarindar!
Still think a small flat deck barge or pontoon would help
0:41 might go easier at low water if you poled the boat with a proper duckbilled punt pole.
That is A LOT of plastic buckets they took to the boat.
Seems to be a lot of boats laying around the need some love
Mate that’s a good idea
Enjoyed the video i had visions of Simon getting stuck in the mud or falling over pulling the tender its a shame about the other boats there in their they probably good boats 😊😊
Is it a boat graveyard there?
So, question. What is the deal with all the boats there? Are they abandoned? Derelict?
wat a pity full site all those nice little boats left to rot around your project.
How many of the boats there are abandoned, also lots of luck and best wishes.
Every time I pissed off my Grammy from Cork, she would say to me, her favorite American Grandson, RUBISH!!!
Sometimes, it seems you have hauled enough rubbish to build two other boats. 😆
I know those spots aren't assigned, move the boat closer to your entry point make life easier?
There are a lot of boats sitting out there that look like they need help. Each has its own story I'll bet. Hate to see them left wide open.
Im glad my boat lives right next to my house. Any garbage I generate goes right to the dump with all the rest of the household garbage every sunday.
So many wrecks and abandoned boats; such a shame?
lots of hulks on there, don't they ever clean them out?
Of all the boats at that marina, how many of them are 'shipshape' and are there any that you look at them as you pass and think 'That would be a good project.
Why are there so many wrecks there?
Gemma, are you aware of the Aurora sinking?
05/21/2024 Hello Ship. From what I have watched your environmental efforts are to be copied. Great job. Don usa
