That driver really missed up. He mixed up poor neighborhoods with dangerous. All these neighborhoods that you drove through are either lower class neighborhoods or industrial/workshops type neighborhoods. The danger level is no way near those of other countries

I lived and went to school in Saudi Arabia. Not a single one of these areas is dangerous in a Western context. It appears from the video there is a communication gap between the driver and Mr. Santenello. What he was told were "dangerous" areas likely refers to the sometimes reckless manner some young drivers drive in those areas. Yet gangs, armed robberies, shootings, assaults, etc., that are commonplace in Western urban cities are next to unknown in the Gulf.

M. Sami Damn you’re hella dramatic, i’ve been born and raised and Riyadh and NEVER have I or any family member that i know encountered thievery here. And that goes for fights as well. If you hate Riyadh just say so without spreading false information. The only thing that I agree about is the drugs and it only happens in the neighborhoods mentioned in the video, and we hear about them a lot because the police here are way more strict then any other city in Saudi.
90% are non-Saudis in these neighbourhoods Most of them are from Yemen, Pakistan, India and some African countries. Uber driver does not fully understand what he is saying, especially when you ask him about gangs? There are no gangs in Riyadh, in the sense that they are known in America, but some boyish gatherings in some neighbourhoods (teenagers) I hope you see the bright side of Riyadh that you did not see in the first episode. Danger and Saudi don't go along very well. That guy doesn't know what he's talking about, these are just nice poor people and the teens of poor families tend to hang outside in the neighboorhood play football "soccer" and chill, nothing in the realm of danger! but for some reason your driver gets that feeling, I'm not sure why. Him not being native should be enough for you to know that he has no clue on what he's talking about, how would he know!! A possibility is that he wanted to milk your money and drive you around as long as he could.

True! Ive worked in saudi for 2years. A place when your out with your family in the middle of the night, no one will hurt you. In fact, if you're in trouble, people will help. One of the safest country on Earth. There is only one danger i know in Saudi and it's only one danger. That is if you're a gay and you make show off, you might get in trouble. However, even you're gay but behave properly, you're safe. That's my observation and experienced.

@@haddingtoniangcp2464 oh, that's mainly because of old traditions and Islamic rules. Though, we don't treat them differently just because their citizenship is not registered as Saudi. But, we are pretty strict when it comes to some rules.

On my last visit, December 2019 I was told that it is safe all over in Riyadh and you have nothing to worry about noe be afraid. I never seen anything questionable to me in Riyadh regarding my safety. I feel much safer in Riyadh than my own country.

What he was told were "dangerous" areas likely refers to the sometimes reckless manner some young drivers drive in those areas. Yet gangs, armed robberies, shootings, assaults, etc., that are commonplace in Western urban cities are next to unknown in the Gulf.

On my last visit, December 2019 I was told that it is safe all over in Riyadh and you have nothing to worry about noe be afraid. I never seen anything questionable to me in Riyadh regarding my safety. I feel much safer in Riyadh than my own country.

There are definitely poor neighborhoods in Riyadh, but I feel you were with a guy who doesn’t know much, or was a little bit extra.(He’s very cool guy.) These neighborhoods are nothing like Compton or near Mission, Chinatown in San Francisco. Anyway, it’s always good to be careful.

Actually I feel safer in MBS's Kingdom then I do in my home town of Seattle. Vision 2030 is a reality and Saudi Arabia is better than ever. Love it here and the people in the Kingdom are amazing.

What I see is not a dangerous thing, but rather a kindness of people and a welcome and smiles. The Saudi people are a friendly, and the expatriates are also nice too.
