Isolde, Viego's wife, used to make puppets. When her soul shattered, one fractal went into the puppet known as Gwen.
The sword could not fatally wound her, because she is basically a living doll with her own individual personality. Built on the foundation of Isolde's fractured soul.

Brief summary of the ruination history
King Viego was to obsessed with his wife Isolde and he focused all her attention to her. And his subordinates are not happy with it. They had planned to assassinate him by putting a deadly poison in his wine for he can fulfilled his duty as the king butn sadly Isolde found this out and she drank it instead and it kills her instantly. Viego upon hearing about the spring of life in Blessed Isles. Attack isles and slaughtered all the people in there. Being blinded by love and obsession Viego heart was corrupted his only goal is to bring back his world his one and only treasure his wife. After they had slaughtered majority of the citizens of the isle they had found the pool of life. Viego put isolde there and she resurrected as a apparition,a soul she bitterly sobs to find out that Viego had sacrifices so many innocent lives just to bring her back. She took Viego's enchanted sword and she stabs him in his heart and the corrupted mist spurs out of it. The blessed isles was consume by this corruption and it is now called Shadow Isles. Isolde's soul fragment was scattered everywhere. Some fragment of it went To Senna and to Gwen the doll the Isolde crafted with love and affection

I’m pretty sure Gwen came to life in a human body
She's a human tho. She has human characteristics like the 5 senses, unlike Orianna for example.
Still can't get over the fact they made a ruined pantheon skin. Pantheon (the man with the spear) had the willpower to overcome the strength of the god who took over his body. In lore he litteraly symbolises the will of man to fight against the odds because that is all men can do and how in doing so they find the strength necessary to overcome all obstacles. Yet they thought it was a good idea to choose him as one of the fallen to Viego's ruination magic. I guess this would prove how dangerous Viego really is but still, this is a great disservice to pantheons character.
And thus ends the ruination story line. I'm going to be honest, the event left a sour taste in everyone's mouths, myself included. The entire event was a big disjointed mess in terms of its storytelling. Almost nothing was consistent between the cinematics, the comics, or the in-game visual novel. Confounding the issue, Riot hasn't made it expressly clear which telling is supposed to be canon. We know the visual novel isn't canon, but that still leaves the cinematics and comics, and so far Riot has been quiet in that department. So far, the excuse they've been using is that none of the tellings we have are canon precisely, but they do go over many of the same story beats (which is, quite frankly, a pretty shitty excuse in my opinion). On top of that, almost all the characters that had a vested interest in the Ruination storyline like Kalista made no appearances in ANY of these tellings. Yorick did make a brief appearance in the visual novel, but even there, his role amounted to "It's dangerous to go alone, take this!" Sorry for the rant, this is just super frustrating for me as one of the game's lore nerds.
Maybe Thresh and mordekaiser may redeem the shadow isles storyline
I mean Mordekaiser is wayyyyyyy more powerful than Viego and way scarier
Bummer event was a mess. Riot is usually on point from what we’ve seen. Wonder what happened to this story. Definitely didn’t seem to be as much interest in this saga. Hopefully whatever they have planned next will be better 😊🤗

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames If you take this story as a standalone story within the Sentinels and those related to Isolde, then only Yorick was done badly because his in-game voice lines hinted at Isolde long before Viego was added. He was basically brushed aside and given a small appearance when the giant ghost he summons is basically part of Isolde's soul given form.
The only reason people are mad is that they assumed this story would change the Shadow Isles back into the Blessed Isles and would tie in the byproduct of Viego's actions, being his army being turned into spectres (Kalista and Hecarim), and the forests becoming corrupted (Maokai). Its like people just wanted every Shadow Isles character to be included in the story to wrap up their plot lines.
Its like if Marvel missed a character in the Avengers that was in the Marvel universe but was not even related to the story of Endgame. Instead of understanding their irrelevancy, people are like "I THOUGHT EVERYONE FROM MARVEL WAS INCLUDED??"
I have no clue how Mordekaiser is related to the Shadow Isles when he's basically a revived wraith raised in the halls of Noxus rather than a spectre from the Shadow Isles.
I would recommend to watch the Unbound Thresh cinematic from League of Legends Wild Rift. It shows what happened to Thresh now that Viego is out of the picture.

It's been pointed out that Gwen is probably somewhat resistant to damage because she's a living doll, but the more important point about how she and Senna came back is that it's due to the weapon Akshan wields, "The Absolver."
The Absolver is a Sentinel relic that, if used to kill a murderer, will return that murderer's victims to life - this includes repairing fatal wounds. In Akshan's lore, he himself was revived by his mentor and Sentinel predecessor, Shadya.
Akshan is pretty damn cool 😎🤟
Wow you almost had tears in your eyes when he hugged Senna. Such an earnest reaction! I love it! I loved this scene too, 'cause it shows a guy who's not afraid of showing his emotions for once. Pretty cool.
Yeah the best part of this whole journey was Senna and Lucians journey. 🥰🤗☺️
Loved the genuine and affected reaction this cinematic left on you guys, like always! 🤘 And while I don't think this was Riot's best cinematic by any means, it still got me excited, but also left a tear in my eye. And if we just take away all the inconsistencies and potential plot holes there's been between this and the Ruination event for a moment. It was a good cinematic with a lead-up of what would be the end of Viego and his wife. Though I wished for Viego to finally be able to spend all this time and chase for with Isolde, and not let it all be for nothing. He just wanted his wife back.
Yeah bummer they messed things up with inconsistencies but we really did like Senna and Lucian in this 🥰😃
Ruination is just one of an introduction for the strong and dark future lores(like Runewars, Voids, Mordekaiser's wrath, etc). And the reason why Viego brought back because of Thresh, the Chain Warden of Shadow Isles, wanted to break out from that island. That's why he can travel now and became an Unbound(we called him EBOY and we can only played him on Wild Rift)
Second thing, you talked about the chick girl: Gwen. Gwen is NOT HUMAN, She is Isolde's handmade DOLL. The reason why she was alive because of part soul of her master. The ghost girl that is Isolde. Akshan did shoot Isolde as of absolution.
For non players, this event is so cool but for us who played this game and a lore nerds, this is kind of a MESS.... CONFUSED. But oh well, thank you so much and I'm glad you enjoy this saga.

I would recommend watching Shurima Decent into the Tomb and Shurima: Rise of the Ascended(in that order) for a little look into what other countries you could call them in Runeterra look like. These focus on a country called Shurima which is a all desert country.

Well guys first of all Amazing Video, i sincerely love your reactions and to tell you a little of the video lets start from the beggining.
The voice that you hear talking about Love and tragedy is Isolde the "Ruined Queen" you can call her and well this is a shorter version of what really happened since some of the sentinels arent in the cinematic (Pyke, Rengar, Irelia, Olaf and Riven), but that not an actual problem, and Viego just wounded Gwen (also she is a living doll that Isolde made when she was little soo) to take her to Camavor, his old kingdom, (the place he goes throught the portal) cause if he would killed her he would lose the part of Isolde's soul that was inside of her.
And to tell you a little of the relationship of Viego and Isolde, they loved each other but the problem is that Viego had her like a treasure and lets say he wasnt a great king either since the reason the Isolde died is cause she saved Viego of a poison dagger that had his as target soooo well it was a really tragic couple indeed.
Then the guy that appear the one with the spear and shield that is the Ruined vesion of Atrues aka Pantheon the Aspect of War, and talking about the joke that Graves those is due to the community of League getting a little angry due to some of the designs of the last released champions such as Sylas, Sett, Viego and Akshan.
And to tell you a little thing of how it ends is that the weapon that Akshan wields has the power of "Revenge" i mean that if someone is killed by that weapon who ever died by that person is revived (Example: You kill my killer with that gun and instantly i revive), thats why Akshan killed Isolde no only to let her rest in peace also to revive Gwen and Senna.
And you might think the problem is over but i have two words for you guys: Unbound Thresh. you will see why i say this when you see "A night at the Inn".

So, as always, hi !
- To Begin, Know that this is not totally canon, but as there are already 3 version of these events, i'll stick to what his shown there.
- We're in the Shadow Isles, where the Light Sentinels came to confront and defeat Viego.
- The lady in Blue is Gwen, Queen Isolde's self made Doll, who was turned into life with a fragment of Isolde's Soul.
- The Portal Viego create leads to Camavor, his homeland, in the throne room.
- The Ghostly Warrior who comes to prevent anyone from interfering with Viego's plans, is Pantheon.
- Pantheon is litteraly a deity of War, incarnated in the flesh of a Simple Targonian man, Atreus.
- Viego revives Isolde Soul by taking away the fragments that were contained in Senna, Gwen, and the music box.
- Akshan revives them, instantly curring every desease or wound they may have (that's why Gwen is fine)
There is another video that came out recently, about the aftermaths of these events, wich is "Thresh Unbound : A Night at the Inn".

Viego is truly a tragic villain. All he wants is his wife back, and he'll break mountains, crush armies, and burn all of Runeterra to see her again, to hold her in his arms again.
It’s what he wants. But as we find out, it’s not what she wants. She doesn’t want all the pain and ruin and devastation just to bring her back 😢

Honestly if I was in Viego's shoes, I probably woulda done the same, betrayed by everyone he's ever known, lied to by his closest comrades, deceived by his loyal soldiers, forced upon a throne he never wanted, and had to live while his wife died, even in death Viego couldn't be with his loved one. Which is all he ever wanted

Akshan brings people back to life when he kills the person who killed them. That's just how the mechanic works in game though and he's probably able to revive people In the actual lore within a few seconds of their death regardless.

Akshan his gun has a special power. He can bring back people from the dead but only by killing the killer. This is why Senna and Gwen came back. Also Gwen is a doll made by Queen Isolde (the ghost lady), a fragment of Isolde went into Gwen bringing her to life. Senna and Gwen were the last pieces Viego needed to bring back his queen, hence why he took them.
Side note: the cinematic didn't show it but Thresh took part of Viego's power and took control of the Shadow Isles. "Thresh Unbound: A night at the inn" cinematic shows his new form as he is hunting in the mainland.

Fate-wise Viego is Lucian's parallel. They both lost someone they absolutely love as that said someone died protecting them (Isolde with an arrow, Senna after Lucian charged at Thresh), both were determined to get their lovers back. The only difference was Isolde, Isolde was the reason why Senna didn't exactly die in the lantern since a part of her soul was attached to Senna. Isolde is also the reason why the mist followed Senna around.

a very very veeeeery interessting aspekt of that event is: that lucian is constantly afraid of loosing Senna again, so he tried really hard to get akshan (the one who "kills" the ghost lady, isolde) into his team, since akshan can revive people by killing their killer. Now the paradox is: Viego is trying to revive Isolde, but Senna and Lucian (with their team) did everything to stop him, but lucian himself brought someone who could revive Senna incase she dies, while not giving sympathy to Viego or even seeing the similarty.
I wish they would have brought this paradox stronger in event

Gwen (the girl that got stabbed) is actually a doll that Viego's wife hand sewed before she died. Overtime she was brought to life. That's why both Senna and Gwen was affected when Viego drained their energy since they were linked to his wife in one way or another. I'm not sure whether she is now fully human but if she's not, it would make sense no one was surprised she didn't fully die when she got stabbed!

Gwen (the girl with scissors and blue hair) Is a doll who the only thing that keeps her alive is isolde's happiness (a part of her soul and that's Viego's (The Ruined King) wife.) Also Akshan can revive people by killing scoundrels which means people who killed them at first place, It's his gun's special power, and that's how when akshan shot Isolde both Senna and Gwen were revived.
It is a bit confusing how killing Isolde revived them though since Viego was the one killing them but... it's whatever honestly lol.

@@Azarian771 so Akshans weapon can revive those who have been killed. So this is why I think Viegos mist power dissapeared. Because Isolde was the one who killed Viego in the first place and made him undead.
The confusing part is why Senna and Gwen survived this encounter?
Also Riot writers did a smart move by introducing Akshan into the game. The whole story around Viego is about love and acceptance of losses. Lucian couldn't accept Sennas death, so he returned her, but even then he wasn't satisfied, because Sennas destiny required her to be in constant danger. Akshans lover also died and he went on his path to revenge her. Just like Viego, that destroyed everything to return Isolde. I guess moral of this story is to move forward after loss of you loved one?
Man, this could ve been such an epic story, but everything went off the rails somewhere along the lines.
Riot messed up big time with this.
The reason Gwen was alive at the end is because Akshan shot Isolde, and if he kills someone or something that killed another person, the person they killed resurrects. Plus she didn't die from the stab, she died, because Isoldes soul was sucked out of her and she is just a doll without it.

So Viego before becoming the Ruined King was the second prince of a kingdom called camavor and being so held no claim to the throne and just lived a life of comfort and became your typical spoiled rich kid that only thought of himself and could care less what goes on in their kingdom. But one day his older brother suddenly died and Viego who showed no interest being king was crowned and during his reign met Isolde his future wife. Now the selfish Viego who showed little interest in anyone other than himself devoted his life to her. However he still did not pay attention to his kingdom so some of his followers planned to get rid of him and long story short an assassin made an attempt on his life but his wife saved him and at the cost of her own life. After that he went crazy unable to accept her death and day found that in a country known as the Blessed isles (Shadow isles before it got corrupted) had water that could heal any ailment. And so he stormed the country forcefully with his kingdoms army and went to put his wife into the water, however his wife returned an angry ghost and in her rage stabbed Viego with his own sword and the magic of the waters clashed with the magic of the sword and the Blessed isles turned into the Shadow isles. And the rest you already know.

So to explain why Gwen is fine after being stabbed... She's a living Doll. It's hinted at the fact that she was made by Isolde. Since Isolde is a seamstress.
Anyway both Gwen and Senna have a part of Isolde's soul inside of them. And Viego was trying to combine them and bring her back.
What did you think of this ending and the event? Seems like it was underwhelming for a lot of people from what we’ve heard 🤔
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well Riot usually makes really strong air tight stories. I'm guessing confusion around Covid might have caused them to overlook certain plot points. Yorick should have played a way bigger role in the story. He's basically an undertaker who can control the dead. He is also the oldest character (champion release wise) that wants to reverse the effects of the ruination. And he wasn't in the story... (I might just be a little salty cause he's one of my favorite champions)
The story wasn't bad though, just not as good as we're used to from Riot.

Oh no! You missed Gwen's teaser trailer cinematic, that explains how she joined the Sentinels of Light.
those blue orbs that Viego is collecting is actually Isolde's essence, Senna and Gwen has it and the Music Box. He gathered those to bring back Isolde. I just forgot how Senna got an essence from Isolde but Gwen on the other half had it because remember that Isolde is a Seamstress, she created Gwen as a doll and loved it. After Isolde die, one of her essence came to Gwen the doll and brought her to life and ofcourse the remaining essence came from the Music Box since it was sentimental to the King and Queen. Isolde's death actually was an accident, it was Viego that the hunter wants to target, but it happened that Isolde accidentally shot. He was targeted for being a shitty ass king, and the people wouldn't want him to rule them.

So the story of Viego is more of a have it all kinda prince. But the only one who was really kind to him was this Isolde (The one he is trying to bring back) Viego got obsessed with her. Till one day she protected him from an attack. By assassins i think. Ever since that incident he tried to bring her back. Even going to the Blessed isles. But was told the waters only work on the living. He just busted in and tried to resurrect her with the sacred water. Of course he failed miserably. But an Apparition of her rose and stabbed him in the heart (WTF!?!) With his own blade. And i think that caused this whole issues with the ruination and all.

Gwen the girl with blue hairs is not a human she is a puppet who is keep alive by a part of the souls of Isold wich is the wife of Viego so a stab with a sword cannot kill her ,The thing is that Isold soul have been split up in several pieces because after her death Viego try to resurrect her using a old magic pool but when Viego drop her body in that pool she resurrect become enraged , she killed viego and her soul got split up .The explosion of the pool destroy the entire country and create the Ruination and transformed Viego in the ruined king .Viego been resurected 1000 Years later we dont know why but he started using his power and his specter army to invade all the world to find the different pieces of Isold Soul , after some week he managed to get them all except two the one inside Gwen and the one Inside Senna but Senna ,Gwen and the other decided to fight him and that where the cinematic start .The reason why Senna seems like she is dying is because viego took the fragment of soul of Isold wich is the think that keep Senna alive same for Gwen but then you see Akshan shooting Isold .The thing is that Akshan weapon is very special cause she got the particularity to ressurect the recent victime of the personn you killed with it so when Akshan shoot Isold it ressurect Gwen and Senna because Isold is kinda the one who killed them by taking her soul fragment back.

The girl who got stabbed was basically a doll who had a part of Isolde's(Ruined King's dead lover) soul in her......maybe that's the reason she did not die. Think of it like a Horcrux lol. Moreover Viego does not kill everyone he stabs with the sword....he sometimes mind controls them in a way......the guy with the spear and shield that was fighting for him is actually a good guy who got controlled by Viego. Overall i'm glad u guys liked it but the actual event was a flop for me coz it messed up the lore pretty badly and characters who were closely tied to the shadow isles( Yorick, Illaoi, Kallista, Hecarim and Maokai) were either completely left out or played very insignificant roles.

Virgo was a king prior to the whole ruination thing, he wasn't a good person, but he wasn't a bad person either, he was just an arrogant noble he got everything he wanted and was too lazy to run his own country, eventually he married Isolde, and she died due to an assassination attempt targeted at him.

I'm gonna be honest, Viego did nothing wrong.
None of this would have ever happend had they just given him his wife, then they could all have fought Thresh together, the real bad guy of the story. The good guys basically let the whole world get invaded by zombies because they didn't want Senna to die since half her soul is Isolde, so giving Isolde back to Viego would have killed her. But thats trading 1 life for world peace, but instead coutless died to the ruination.
It is half way a meme to say that, but this story was so hastely ended that as it stands I think Viego is not actually that big of a bad guy. The writers did this story dirty. So many other champions whom were so important to it's plot were just not there at all simply because they're not as popular in the game itself. I hope they don't butcher future stories for the sake of selling skins aswell.
Just to play devils advocate. 🙃 Isolde ( Viegos wife right?) didn’t even want to be brought back from the dead. So why trade a living life. Someone who has not completed their life for one that was lost however tragic. Another message could be to let nature take its course. Often times when people try to use magic to undo time or bring back life, it ends poorly 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The writing is a bit circular on the Isolde thing since the reason why she doesn't want to be brought back is because Viego has become a bad guy, but Viego only became a bad guy because Isolde didn't want to be found, so it's a bit circular.
People think Isolde initially didn't want Viego to find her and ressurrect her because Viego caused the first ruination of the Blessed Isles, now known as the Shadow Isles, but that was actually caused by Thresh when he tricked Viego to further his torture fantasies.
And remember, Senna isn't actually alive either, she was killed by Thresh but could escape his lantern with Lucians help because of Isoldes soul inside her.
So everyone, including Viego should really have a gripe with Thresh, which most of them already kinda do but don't act apon it during the event at all, it is very strange.
I might be judging the story too soon though. The event is over but surely they won't leave the stories of these characters in the dust. A large amount of lore interested people don't seem happy with how the event went so I don't doubt Riot will try to polish it up later on.
Also as a sidenote, in the first cinematic Viego took Isolde from Senna and she lived perfectly fine after that, but when he did it in the final cinematic, Senna died. I don't know whats up with that. maybe Senna didn't even have to die to give him Isoldes soul.
Either way the memes about this event have been great.

I hate that Viego lost, and that Isolde was like why wasn’t before enough? Uhhh maybe because she was assassinated. Taken too early, the only person in his life who didn’t have an agenda to force on him so they could rule the kingdom through a puppet king.
The “heroes” just had too much plot armor
People are going to say ohh him and Lucians story are to show the difference in blah blah. Technically Senna should be dead, and Lucian was going around doing whatever he could to free her. His story ended up well enough.
Vayne doesn’t make sense, she literally kills monsters and magical creatures on site. So her not killing Shyv was out of character.
The spirit of Pantheon died, was killed By Aatrox the god killer. So the body, Atreus is the man with the will to never give up. Yet he was taken over by Viego???? Whaaaaaat?
No Hecarim, Karthus, Kalista, etc.
The voices of those from Camavor should also be similar to Viego. Yet they weren’t changed. Gwens voice doesn’t make sense
