Why Do Americans Wear Shoes Inside?

Indoors with shoes is not normal, American television normalized this with the actors always having shoes on. I always found it so weird that the people on TV had their shoes on the couch or bed

So I asked several of my American friends about shoes inside, and the one that said this has several small children. Keeping floors clean with small kids feels impossible some days!!

I wish shoes off households would get normalized TBH and for western culture to quit treating it as taboo. It not only keeps the floors much cleaner, but it creates a much more relaxed atmosphere and makes the home that much more cozy. It signals that you have humility and respect for the space and that you don’t mind shedding your shoes and staying awhile.

@@dannymain542 exactly any country other than USA it seems, it's a big no-no to have shoes indoors (I'm allowed to wear shoes indoors in the Caribbean (not on rugs or bed) but that's only because my feet would be dirtier if I had to walk barefoot. Anywhere else my shoes would have to come off pronto).

Since the advent of social media, I have noticed that many Americans still take off their shoes when entering a house. However, before that, when watching movies or TV shows, 100% of Americans would wear shoes inside the house, even on the carpet or while lying on the bed. So, I and many others wonder why they would bring dirt inside their homes like that. Aren't they advised by healthcare to maintain cleanliness in their homes?

The reason why TV shows have their shoes on is because it’s filming in the studio and you can’t take your shoes off like whatever’s something loose like a nail on the floor or something it would cause injury

…im American and make sure my guests ALWAYS take off their shoes before walking anywhere else, and have clean clothes to sit on my bed, 2000$ couch, other couch… im being a little more lenient now. not with shoes though..
