This summer, visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.
The film stars an impressive international cast including Golden Globe winner Gael García Bernal (Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle), Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread), Rufus Sewell (Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle), Ken Leung (Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens), Nikki Amuka-Bird (Jupiter Ascending), Abbey Lee (HBO’s Lovecraft Country), Aaron Pierre (Syfy’s Krypton), Alex Wolff (Hereditary), Embeth Davidtz (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Eliza Scanlen (Little Women), Emun Elliott (Star Wars: Episode VII-The Force Awakens), Kathleen Chalfant (Showtime’s The Affair) and Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit).
Old is a Blinding Edge Pictures production, directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, from his screenplay based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters. The film is also produced by Ashwin Rajan (Glass, AppleTV+’s Servant) and Marc Bienstock (Glass, Split). The film’s executive producer is Steven Schneider. - บันเทิง

Welp. Thanks trailer for playing basically the entire movie except the ending.

Is this supposed to be a joke?
The movie had a really interesting and creative concept. I think it was good but very depressing or at least I feel depressed after watching it. Something you can definitely take out of this movie is that life is short, we should cherish it and people close to us while we still have them.
yes i got the same feeling i had the feeling like man i forgot to do so many things in my life at my youth and young adulthood..
Got me thinking about my grandparents😓
So was there ghosts or demons in this film?
@Championxeneixe only dull actor was one who played Midsized Sedan...or maybe that's how he was told to act. 🤔
I felt bored most of the movie.
I watched this last night and what a brilliant peace of writing and direction, the concept is outstanding and the pace keeps you on the edge all the time , the child actors gave great performances and the plot twist at the end was so cool , the film was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish and makes you realise that time is very short in a life , it gives the effect of grains of sand falling in a sand clock …..
I agree. I just wish the storyline had gone further as I think there was so much more left to be told. Shyamalan did a great job with what he had. Interesting but not my favorite. Shyamalan has had some great movies & the Wayward Pines Series was amazing.
I agree too. Shyamalan does such a wonderful job of capturing the mood of the citizenry and reflecting it back to us through imagery and subtlety. The despair and anxiety we felt with 9/11 went into Signs and those same feelings with COVID (along with many other themes) went into Old. Critics generally missed the point of this film.
Debatable
The whole film stunk like cow squat!
PREDICTIVE PROGRAMING🛑 PFIZER AND THE COVID VACCINE EXPERIMENT 🛑 A HANDFUL DIED AND IT IS STILL NOT MENTIONED 🛑 AND PEOPLE STILL THINK IS NOT HAPPENING 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️BRILLIANT !

The theatrical poster design is a direct reference to the graphic novel, Sandcastle, which inspired this film. It's from a moment in which a character tells a tale about "a strange old man who had half of everything: half a head, half a body, and half of his arms and legs."
Old (2021) marks the first time M. Night Shyamalan has filmed entirely outside Greater Philadelphia since his first film Praying with Anger (1992). However, Guy and Prisca mention that Philadelphia is where they live.
The film is an adaptation of a 2010 graphic novel by writer Pierre Oscar Lévy and artist Frederik Peeters called Sandcastle. When asked what inspired him to adapt the book to film, director M. Night Shyamalan explained: "The book gave me the opportunity to work through a lot of anxieties I had around death and aging, and things like my parents getting older."
Near the end, the notebook they find that contains a written possible theory and other victims' names is said to have belonged to a science fiction writer. This is a direct reference to the graphic novel wherein the main character that comes up with theories for their unusual situation is a science fiction writer.
The real horror in this movie is the quality of the plot and dialogue
haha true
You definitely struck gold with comment! M. Night Shyamalan has a twisted way of making movies! I watched this film and found it a waste of time! Luckily, I watched it as an in-flight movie... and hated it without wasting extra cash! Stupid movie. Nothing brilliant about it.
the twist at the end is they just didn't wear sunscreen
I could go for that.

This movie takes the concept "They grow up so fast" to another level
They grow up, get pregnant, and there mother leaves, while some black out, and one decomposes so fast🙂
yeah and doing it badly
Yeah as a typical Asian aunt says to her nephew/niece she met a month ago "aw you were so tiny last time I saw , I used to sing u to sleep, you've grown up so fast".
Lol, at least now we have a better answer to their question " I went on a trip to the aging island "

Me and my wife weren't ready for this movie. It was insane rollercoaster of feelings. As a viewer I felt that time for me was moving fast as well, I couldn't properly react to the events, because everything was changing rapidly and scene around campfire struck right in the heart of my disoriented feelings.
It's a shame that this movie has so low ratings.
They grow up so fast! literally.
Yelp review: “The hotel was nice, but the beach sucks!”
LOL
Ok that was cute 😊
For me the beach aboslutely kills
Cringe
😂💀
My theory is M. Night Shyamalan went to the beach and swam in the ocean and his fingers got all wrinkly, and he was like “holy shit.”
Well he is in it somewhat. Just not on the beach.
He's just the pervy film maker/photographer looking for nude beachbathers on the clifftops.
LMFAOOOOO
You guys are so close...
No, what initiated The Movie Script or storyline is when Shyamalan had grab a fist full of the sand and release it slowly. He notice how fast time went by and realizing there wasn't any left in his hand like a sand hourglass.
Wallah the movie concept. 😬
Lmao
Just watched it! Crazy how well it was done!

Yes that's why I stopped watching it halfway thru. Can't wait to see it
Clearly you’ve never seen a M Night movie if you think you saw everything in the trailer
Same I stopped 0:50. When I finish watching a movie trailer it's usually because I'm disinterested in the movie.
It didn't show the "reason" they were there. Or how they're gonna get off the beach
@@eyelikehurdles not all of his movies have twists. My favorite, Signs, didn’t. I guess we’ll see.
Underrated movie. Acting is pretty good, given how many actors play the same characters. The camera work is really good. The plot is like buying a random blu ray at goodwill. I watched this on shrooms and was in constant awe of the intricacy of this plot. I felt as if I were there with the characters as they not only physically aged rapidly but also psychologically. I think many people missed some important details so they were left confused and disappointed. This has got to be one of the most bittersweet yet ominous films I've ever seen. Will definitely rewatch it someday.

Some people worry about the scenarios that can not occur. Most of the stories in horror genre are works of fantasy which have not and will not take place in reality. Authors and makers of movies - related to this genre- make a lot of efforts to entertain the audience.
Fearing situations that will never happen is a waste of beautiful time.

Hello,
Being that this film is eleven months, old & there are thousands of comments; perhaps no one will ever read this but.........
First: I found, the writing of script to be, "Richly, Written" At the outset, I was intrigued, frightened, angered; then I was bewildered. Then, this intelligent film, found a home in my heart.
Second, I was intrigued, simple, the film brought to life the element, of family and my apparent illness'. Frightened, simply as, " What? Why? Who?" Is doing this, to these, people? Angered, simply, I thought it was the black guy, "Who" was commenting murder.( Damn, why is it also the black guy, who's a criminal?( In this film, I was glad that the black guy, didn't die, within, the first 15 minutes of this film ).
Then. I was bewildered, simply, as the characters were deeply pained: the black guy, had professional parents....I enjoyed the main family, whom were French. ( I loved hearing the French accent, as it reminded me of my holidays in France. ( I stated that this film brought personal elements, of my life, to the forefront. )
Third: Intrigue, I thought, it was that the management of the hotel, that was the culprit.....but why? Were the managment psycho? No. The water got more and more murky. ( Why does Director:
M.Knight Shyamalan, have a difficulty with water? "Signs" Water kills aliens / "The Lady in the Pool" ...)
Cerebral, turned the writing, as we, find that the resort, has made a holiday, exclusively for ill people via a pharmacy. Even more so, that the resort is conducting medical surveys, on 73 different groups. And using the vacationers, to formulate cures, for illnesses.
This film, has Psychological, twists & turns. The element, that the Island itself, won't let the subjects leave. That the rocks, had a form of mental prowess. That, within hours the people got older....the young children, grew, one became a father, we saw an Alzheimers, victim evolve more away from his greatness as a surgeon; to hallucinations; ( The elements of Alzheimers, struck a chord with me, as my mother was an Alzheimers victim. )
Lastly, as I believed, that these scientists, were going to get away, with their experiments and group number 74, were arriving; A child's coding, saved the two protagonists, to where they could elaborate their experiences and turn the resort into the authorities.
This was, the most cerebral film, that I had the privilege, of watching in a long time;
Perhaps, the last such film was "Andromeda Strain" Original film circa 1970s.

Well, it's good that the children's clothes aged and grew with them.
Suspension of disbelief is so difficult isn't it?
If you watch the movie you can see that they don't wear the same clothes. Don't want to say too much but they deal with that situation. All in all a good movie with a nice ending.
@@fightermma you're missing the point lol
Plot armor is very strong
@@aidanhunter6195 i might be misiing "the point" aswell but (In the movie) the children's clothes got tighter as they grew up and they changed into their parent's spare clothes
A few things that bothered me about the film.
The kids having sex and getting pregnant. They're 6.. They don't know what sex is yet. They don't know what those organs do. They can get horny all they want but they don't know what the actual act of sex is yet.
"Mid-Sized Sedan" couldn't overpower the doctor? Really? sure he was stabbed, and he might have been caught off guard, but the dude was HUGE. You're going to tell me, that him knowing that his stab wound would heal instantly wouldn't motivate him to fight back?
In one sentence they say "Hair and nails don't grow because their cells are dead!" and then in another scene we see a dead body decompose.. Which is it? Are dead cells affected or not? You can't have both. Either say that they don't and don't show a decomposing body, so say that they do and show everyone having to find ways to cut their hair and keep their nails trimmed.
I understand that they wanted to say that bodies decompose, that way they wouldn't have to explain how they clean up the dead bodies. They just wait 15 hours and the bodies turn to dust. (Like we saw with the baby.) I also get that they didn't want to go through the hassle of dealing with long hair and fingernails. But you can't strictly say "Dead cells aren't affected" and then show that dead cells ARE affected.
The tumor growing inside the Mom would have killed her. The thing grew to a massive size. If wounds heal and cells divide rapidly, then that means that they would die just as rapidly. The tumor growing inside of her would have spread that cancer throughout her whole body and killed her in those few moments between her collapsing and them taking the tumor out. Yes, I know she did technically die, but then she came back to life again.
Also, if you die on the beach because you stop breathing, or a tumor kills you, you're not coming back a few minutes later. The kids at the end even joke that they aged 3 days while they were having a moment together. If you're on the beach and you stop breathing for 3 minutes, that's the equivalent of you not breathing for 36.5 days. You're not just waking up from that.
I know, you have to suspend your disbelief a bit. It's just a movie. But the movie very clearly establishes it's own rules, and then turns around and breaks them. If the movie can't even follow it's own rules, why should I be expected to believe them?
nice
Wow
For those who have seen the film, you'll know what I mean by this....but im still not sure how I feel at the end of this one..

one of shamalan's best
It was a pretty good movie but it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped from Director M Night Shyamalan who continuously raises the bar on his own self. He’s brilliant. Sixth Sense, Signs, Glass, The Village, Unbreakable, The Visit, Split and so many more including the Series, Wayward Pines, are just a few examples of his work. He’s amazing. He usually has the twisted endings you just don’t see coming, much like this one and of course in the same Style as the great Hitchcock! I’ll watch anything Shyamalan Directs, as I know it won’t be a waste of time. This wasn’t one of my favorites but then, I think he’s spoiled me and likely others, who want everything he does to be a complete hit. Shyamalan does the best he can with story he’s been given. The writer, after all, must accept some responsibility.
The same here. I watched it because of his past movies have been great. This one I did not like personally. Just way too much, I expected a twist at the end to be it all just a dream or something.
Of course the scariest thing in a human life : kids and getting old
🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍 Comment of the day!!
Rapidly "where did the time go"? Horror
Good or bad, Shyamalan almost always makes something unique.
One film Avatar: The Last Airbender
Except The Last Airbender
@@chandlerellis5285 did he make that movie? No right?
Was The Last Airbender a unique film???

No, hence why I said "almost".
This one reminds me of the beach that makes you old
Intrresting movie. The ending gave me quite a few goosebumps, although not unpredictable.
It never gets old...
stop
I see what you did there

Oh god 😂
It's 24th july... Where to watch this movie....anyone have idea regarding this....??
"We are here for a reason"...
M. Night Shyamalan: No reason will ever be given
Lol fact
Ya so true
M Knight is ahead of his time.
"There's something wrong with this beach!"
*Ya don't say*
She's the world's greatest detective.
“Oh really? I thought the beach was like any other normal beach!”
Duh!!!
he was talking about his daughter, he didnt say beach
They just need to say that so the brain-dead audience members are like "Ohhhhhhhh"
Can’t wait for the “Young” sequel where there are old people then they become fetuses lol
Starring Brad Pitt
Honestly it will be creepy, imagine watching your friends turn into fetus and die 🤣🤣🤣.
The Poof Point
I think someone name David already made that movie.
@@kristianprayoga1139 you're in for a real treat if you've never heard about The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 😂 guy in the movie literally does that but they wrote it to be heartwarming and romantic lmfao
