As someone new to your channel, I watched your last few videos. Firstly, thank you for uploading detailed and accurate information. Secondly, as for the insults, Tesla represents, for some, an enlightened move to more efficient and interesting forms of transport. And for those individuals, progress is a dirty word. Society will always have luddites, just as every village will always have its idiot. In the meantime, speaking as someone yet to make the jump to BEV vehicles, enjoy your car for what it is - an excellent example of engineering.

I understand your "fumes"! 😅 There are so many excuses why people hate Tesla owners and none of them are rational or reasonable. Many have already been mentioned here including jealousy, hate, ignorance, perceived money/subsidies, etc. Here in Hong Kong, the local derogatory term used is "Teslun". "Lun" stands for "jerk" (ie, wan#er) in Chinese, so I (and other Tesla owners) get called this all the time. The perception here in Hong Kong is that, because there are so many Tesla owners here (over 50,000 Teslas in our city) and because many new Tesla owners are basically poor drivers who cannot handle the sudden acceleration or use the driving functions properly, they have been caught on dashcam and ridiculed. Hong Kong generally has really poor drivers, but because some incidents involve a Tesla, the media spotlight is brighter. From what I’ve heard, People don’t like people on a high horse telling others their car is the future and good for the environment when they are not or in some way worse. Buying them on lease of finance and then trading it in for a new one after a few years- even worse for the environment. And they look like a heard of sheep in matching boring looking cars. And the crap re-sell values and cost or repair don’t exactly attract sensible buyers.
@@lloyd.8272 thanks Lloyd, the reason I got a Tesla 4 -5 years ago wasn’t about saving the environment it was because I liked the look and drive of the car. On top of that the savings in fuel and service costs versus my other cars. My last car was a Model Y long range and I did 53,000 miles before I traded it in. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones as all I did during that time was change the tyres once and top up the washer fluid. I paid zero road tax, zero servicing charges and the car costs me £6.34 to charge to full and I get 300 miles from that. I get your point on depreciation, however all cars depreciate as soon as you collect them. Great response and thanks for your views 👍

I have a Tesla 3 Performance and my wife has a Model Y Performance. We also have a BMW M3 and a lifted 4Runner. I always have people parking right up on my bumper in lots. The parking lot could be completely empty will hundreds of spaces and a Ford 150 will park inches behind my rear bumper. I have a lifted truck as well and I never park next to people especially when it is empty. I think people hate change and some could be jealous. I really do not know, but you should not be chastised for liking something different. I also love muscle cars and European cars. I am hoping to add a C8 Corvette or Porsche 911 S to the stable.

I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now and love them. Now with that being said, about this video. In my opinion, the hate for Tesla comes from its owner, musk. Yes, as far as his products: Vehicles, Space X, Energy storage in particular, he’s definitely a genius and a leader, BUT, and this is coming from someone who, although I’m conflicted, plans on buying a refreshed Model Y in 2025, thinks that as a person he’s a total waste of humanity! I hate how he built his company from appealing to people happens to have a certain world view. These people supported and totally bought into his vision. As these people bought his product and made his company a success, oh and don’t forget the government that supported his company’s growth through loans and a general support of his vision, now that he’s a success, he’s done a complete 180 against those people! He’s moved his headquarters to a state where he’s not even allowed to directly sell his cars! He’s supporting a political party that is against EV’s! He fires swaths of employees on a whim, including those he had uproot their lives by moving themselves and their families to work for him! He appears to have no loyalty to anyone. Yes, he may be a genius, but he sucks as a decent person! I will be buying a Tesla, because I like the product, but definitely not the owner of the company! If someone could come out with what I felt were a comparable product, that used or had a charging network as good as Tesla’s, I go with that instead. Unfortunately, in my view that product just doesn’t exist yet and so I’ll be forced to buy a Tesla.
I highly suggest you read Walter Isaacson’s book on Elon. It’s not all black and white. It seemed that way because the media, backed by their big sponsors, want you to think that way. Always second guess mainstream media’s narratives seek your own truths. They help spread lies about climate change for the exact same reason and we’re still arguing over it till this day. Decades later we’ll look back at this like how we look back at the marketing games from tobacco companies. People who are insanely productive are not normal people, with very different values. Many of such values will not align with ours, and that’s by design or they will function like the rest of us. Gates, Bezos, Jobs and Musk are people who made huge impact, and they didn’t do it through kindness.
I have a friend who won't get in my Model 3. He is "that one" who sends pics of a Tesla on fire or towing a generator. Or an anti-EV article claiming the Luton carpark fire was from an EV (was a diesel). But then complains when his ICE car does a transmission.... Pushes the friendship!

Unfortunately the standard of society has dropped significantly in today’s world. IMO you have hit the nail on the head, it’s jealousy, and of. I am 1 month in with my first Tesla and I have the same spec has you but black exterior and white interior, my day to day drives on the road are more enjoyable with other users, I previously had a Range Rover and I don’t know why but simple manners like giving way etc was very rare and also slight road rage. I have not experienced any of the sort since I have had this car and I must say you really do not realise how good a car is until you have driven one, WOW!

My impression is a lot of the older generation (but not all) seem stuck in the past and see it as something being forced on them by governments, for dubious environmental reasons, and as a result are very belligerent in their views without even having driven one. It is pure jealousy, nothing more nothing less. And it's because Tesla are the leaders in EV. They produced a high tech EV from the ground up and have built a great brand. It's because they're the latest and greatest in vehicle manufacturing. My previous cars were BMW's and BMW drivers always get stick, although I've never had anyone shout out to me. Whilst there are plenty of other EV's out there now, Tesla still stand out from the crowd as being original. Whereas "most" other EV cars are from long standing existing brands which don't grab as much attention. That's my theory. I was chuffed to bits when I got my first Tesla, purely because I love the brand, I think Elon is an absolute innovative genius. I wouldn't be as chuffed (although they are nice) driving around in BMW EV for example. Also probably the fact that all the petrol heads out there didn't like the new arrival leaving them standing at the traffic lights, even without trying. Kind of pis**d on their bonfires.

It's Jealousy. They gone down in price now and are cheaper but a couple years ago anyone that has a Tesla is rich. Even richer than owning a Mercedes or a BMW etc so they are jealous so will scratch your car. You don't seem them scratching any other electric car brand

As our household is fully BEV with an i3 and a Model 3 since 2019 I have mixed feelings about Tesla and defo don't like those so called Elon Musk fans as for us it's just a car. But just calling some one a Tesla wan#er because that person drive a Tesla??? Lack of brains IMHO. My self drive a EV since 2014 and had 2 previous EV's till settled on an i3 and will never go back to ICE for sure. The Model 3 is from SWMBO done already 72k miles and is happy with it so ignore all the noise and drive the car as being designed.
I don't drive a Tesla, but EV hate is weird and real. I've had someone ask me if I'm "a stupid environment activist" for driving IONIQ 5 and BMW i3S. Tesla probably just get more hate because it's so recognizable.

Just to give a different view here, as most of the comments are people saying they have bought Teslas Firstly "Tesla Wanker" is a likely play on "Bus Wanker Shouted at people at the bus stop in the inbetweeners TV series. Secondly Elon musk is a Genius? I mean he has been very successful, but in between getting stoned on live radio, calling people Pedophiles because they disagree with him and a list of other highly offensive behaviors over the years, there are quite a lot of people who don't share the same view about his genius or hold him in any high regard. Tesla Cars have been plagued with quality issues from day 1, so a lot of people would rather buy a car from one of the legacy manufacturers rather than buy something that could be plagued with problems and Tesla hasn't exactly been very helpful in fixing those problems. Then there are the Tesla owners who historically have been the "Tech Bros" the ones who look down on everyone else because they own a tesla. The sort of people who make derogatory comments about people driving cars that have tail pipe emissions but given that Tesla make cars priced in the premium/luxury end of the market and budget, many people who live pay check to pay check can't afford a £50k+ car. So there are a host of reasons people don't like tesla as a company, the company figure head or the cars. You don't have to agree with it, but it might give you some idea why you might be singled out by people, who maybe, are not necessarily "jealous" but are making a judgement about the sort of person you are because of the car you have chosen to drive.

As I said in the video, since the introduction of the Model 3 and Model Y Tesla’s have become a reality for people like me who has worked hard all my life and you can get for the price of a BMW 3 or 5 series which a lot of people drive. I wouldn't let someone shouting something at you, take that away, likely it was just some kids who thought they were being funning (as per the inbetweeners) I wouldn't buy a tesla, not because of my dislike of the car, they are actually very nice. Nor the image that people seem to associate with them, but over the years the behaviors of Mr Musk, means I won't put money in his pocket. See i have no issue with evs infact im awaiting delivery of my first new ev next month and im a big elon fan. In the beginning i was a big tesla fan aswell but i noticed that the teslas drivers online are a bit cult like they'll eat another tesla owner if he pipes up about a problem or bad service or even worse talks smack about lord elon and thats part of what made me avoid them despite buying an ev in the same bracket i didnt want to be tarred with the same brush as "tesla wan%ers" I see online its kinda funny to me that tesla wa#kers and bus wa#kers is still a thing in 2024 but i dont see it changing any time soon

I’ve been watching your videos for a few months now and love them. Now with that being said, about this video. In my opinion, the hate for Tesla comes from its owner, musk. Yes, as far as his products: Vehicles, Space X, Energy storage in particular, he’s definitely a genius and a leader, BUT, and this is coming from someone who, although I’m conflicted, plans on buying a refreshed Model Y in 2025, thinks that as a person he’s a total waste of humanity! I hate how he built his company from appealing to people happens to have a certain world view. These people supported and totally bought into his vision. As these people bought his product and made his company a success, oh and don’t forget the government that supported his company’s growth through loans and a general support of his vision, now that he’s a success, he’s done a complete 180 against those people! He’s moved his headquarters to a state where he’s not even allowed to directly sell his cars! He’s supporting a political party that is against EV’s! He fires swaths of employees on a whim, including those he had uproot their lives by moving themselves and their families to work for him! He appears to have no loyalty to anyone. Yes, he may be a genius, but he sucks as a decent person! I will be buying a Tesla, because I like the product, but definitely not the owner of the company! If someone could come out with what I felt were a comparable product, that used or had a charging network as good as Tesla’s, I go with that instead. Unfortunately, in my view that product just doesn’t exist yet and so I’ll be forced to buy a Tesla.

I highly suggest you read Walter Isaacson’s book on Elon. It’s not all black and white. It seemed that way because the media, backed by their big sponsors, want you to think that way. Always second guess mainstream media’s narratives seek your own truths. They help spread lies about climate change for the exact same reason and we’re still arguing over it till this day. Decades later we’ll look back at this like how we look back at the marketing games from tobacco companies.
People who are insanely productive are not normal people, with very different values. Many of such values will not align with ours, and that’s by design or they will function like the rest of us. Gates, Bezos, Jobs and Musk are people who made huge impact, and they didn’t do it through kindness.
I have a friend who won't get in my Model 3. He is "that one" who sends pics of a Tesla on fire or towing a generator. Or an anti-EV article claiming the Luton carpark fire was from an EV (was a diesel).
But then complains when his ICE car does a transmission....

Honestly, never had thought of this being an issue. I don't own a Tesla, yet, but this does worry me! A knife in the tire?! Intentional scratches? People suck! Would the Sentry Mode not have caught these people in the act doing this to the car, though?

When I have bought a new ice car in the past friends asked about it and were interested .l bought my model y and no body showed any interest why?
@@ChrisRydel - Maybe they don’t want to offend you as they don’t like Tesla’s. Most my family and friend’s initially asked questions as they weren’t as popular 4-5 years ago. When I got my Model Y performance nothing was mentioned l😂

I think the reason that some people lash out is because of their inability to accept change, and the changes that are happening now are exponential, which seems to frightens them.

Unfortunately the standard of society has dropped significantly in today’s world. IMO you have hit the nail on the head, it’s jealousy, and of. I am 1 month in with my first Tesla and I have the same spec has you but black exterior and white interior, my day to day drives on the road are more enjoyable with other users, I previously had a Range Rover and I don’t know why but simple manners like giving way etc was very rare and also slight road rage. I have not experienced any of the sort since I have had this car and I must say you really do not realise how good a car is until you have driven one, WOW!

My impression is a lot of the older generation (but not all) seem stuck in the past and see it as something being forced on them by governments, for dubious environmental reasons, and as a result are very belligerent in their views without even having driven one. If they drove a tesla, then they would experience a stunning drive and all round package. Their loss, let them keep moaning and whingeing, and paying a fortune to fill up!

It is pure jealousy, nothing more nothing less. And it's because Tesla are the leaders in EV. They produced a high tech EV from the ground up and have built a great brand. It's because they're the latest and greatest in vehicle manufacturing. My previous cars were BMW's and BMW drivers always get stick, although I've never had anyone shout out to me. Whilst there are plenty of other EV's out there now, Tesla still stand out from the crowd as being original. Whereas "most" other EV cars are from long standing existing brands which don't grab as much attention. That's my theory. I was chuffed to bits when I got my first Tesla, purely because I love the brand, I think Elon is an absolute innovative genius. I wouldn't be as chuffed (although they are nice) driving around in BMW EV for example. Also probably the fact that all the petrol heads out there didn't like the new arrival leaving them standing at the traffic lights, even without trying. Kind of pis**d on their bonfires.

It's Jealousy. They gone down in price now and are cheaper but a couple years ago anyone that has a Tesla is rich. Even richer than owning a Mercedes or a BMW etc so they are jealous so will scratch your car. You don't seem them scratching any other electric car brand

As our household is fully BEV with an i3 and a Model 3 since 2019 I have mixed feelings about Tesla and defo don't like those so called Elon Musk fans as for us it's just a car. But just calling some one a Tesla wan#er because that person drive a Tesla??? Lack of brains IMHO. My self drive a EV since 2014 and had 2 previous EV's till settled on an i3 and will never go back to ICE for sure. The Model 3 is from SWMBO done already 72k miles and is happy with it so ignore all the noise and drive the car as being designed.

Very expensive? Look up the average selling price for new vehicles. The cheapest M3 is getting more and more in the range for people to buy.

Just to give a different view here, as most of the comments are people saying they have bought Teslas
Firstly "Tesla Wanker" is a likely play on "Bus Wanker Shouted at people at the bus stop in the inbetweeners TV series.
Secondly Elon musk is a Genius? I mean he has been very successful, but in between getting stoned on live radio, calling people Pedophiles because they disagree with him and a list of other highly offensive behaviors over the years, there are quite a lot of people who don't share the same view about his genius or hold him in any high regard.
Tesla Cars have been plagued with quality issues from day 1, so a lot of people would rather buy a car from one of the legacy manufacturers rather than buy something that could be plagued with problems and Tesla hasn't exactly been very helpful in fixing those problems.
Then there are the Tesla owners who historically have been the "Tech Bros" the ones who look down on everyone else because they own a tesla. The sort of people who make derogatory comments about people driving cars that have tail pipe emissions but given that Tesla make cars priced in the premium/luxury end of the market and budget, many people who live pay check to pay check can't afford a £50k+ car.
So there are a host of reasons people don't like tesla as a company, the company figure head or the cars.
You don't have to agree with it, but it might give you some idea why you might be singled out by people, who maybe, are not necessarily "jealous" but are making a judgement about the sort of person you are because of the car you have chosen to drive.

As I said in the video, since the introduction of the Model 3 and Model Y Tesla’s have become a reality for people like me who has worked hard all my life and you can get for the price of a BMW 3 or 5 series which a lot of people drive. I’m a council house kid from the north east of the UK who has done ok for himself so I’m fortunate to be able to buy one. You make a lot of valid points in your reply so thanks. I think you have hit the nail on the head. Only thing I would add is its pretty cool to hate on Tesla and they are probably just jumping on the bandwagon.

I wouldn't let someone shouting something at you, take that away, likely it was just some kids who thought they were being funning (as per the inbetweeners)
I wouldn't buy a tesla, not because of my dislike of the car, they are actually very nice. Nor the image that people seem to associate with them, but over the years the behaviors of Mr Musk, means I won't put money in his pocket. I mean he has just literally approved some $50something Billion pay deal.... which is money that could be spent on improving cars, lowering prices or given to share holders. no other car company is paying its CEO such an insane figure, that is a third of the total NHS budget for a year being given to one person. anyway I will stop my rant there.

See i have no issue with evs infact im awaiting delivery of my first new ev next month and im a big elon fan. In the beginning i was a big tesla fan aswell but i noticed that the teslas drivers online are a bit cult like they'll eat another tesla owner if he pipes up about a problem or bad service or even worse talks smack about lord elon and thats part of what made me avoid them despite buying an ev in the same bracket i didnt want to be tarred with the same brush as "tesla wan%ers" I see online its kinda funny to me that tesla wa#kers and bus wa#kers is still a thing in 2024 but i dont see it changing any time soon

I’m afraid we owe that to Elon Musk he is brilliant but polarising. I cannot name the CDO of any other car manufacturer which just shows how much he is in the media, he has also unfortunately said some stupid things which doesn’t help.
