    My question is!
    Is the off road one & the rest of the airbags. Using the same algorithm system, for changing settings to ride in the streets etc.. or is there a difference between picking one.
    I don’t know if I’m explaining myself.
    I ride on the street but I think I like that the off-road one gives you a lot more protection.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The “street” algorithms are identical, but the off road version offers 2 distinct off road algorithms, while this 7x offers a Race version for the Track. So you’d have to figure out which matches your riding style more and go that route. The off-road airbag does offer more passive armor though, if that is something you’re looking for.

    This is a very different bag design than the 5. Can you compare the coverage of the single bag strategy of the 5 vs the dual chamber 7x? I have both and it looks like the 5 may even give more coverage, especially where it wraps around the ribs.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We will link down below the product pages for each, where you can see the Alpinestars-provided photos of the bags cut away from the unit when inflated. Coverage is about the same in some areas, but overall protection still stays about the same. The Tech Air 5 has a bit more side protection (common crash area w/ cars, curbs, etc) while the 7x has more tailbone and outer shoulder protection (common with sportier / track crashes, etc).

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tech Air 5 has single deployment, Street and Race modes, with good side coverage, and is meant to be worn standalone. The Tech Air 7 is a dual deployment (repack-able by customers), Street and Race Modes, more tailbone coverage than sides, and can be zipped into jackets / suits or worn on it's own. The TA7 just launched hence the ability to repack it yourself, but the Tech Air 5 will save some $ on the initial purchase.

    You say you can inspect the bag yourself and determine if you want to run past 4 deployments without service. I like that idea since my falls are typically slow speed collarbone breakers. I don't even damage my adventure jacket, I doubt I'd need a bladder replacement anytime soon. That being said, the A* TA 7X manual specifically states (just like the offroad model) that after 4 deployments the unit will lock itself out until it is professionally serviced. (Per A* User Manual) IMPORTANT! The Electronic Control Unit (16) records the number of deployments. After the fourth deployment, the System will permanently indicate a System Fault, displaying a solid red LED (2a) on the LED Display (2). The System will remain locked until a full service is performed by an authorized Alpinestars’ Tech-Air® Service Center.
    Can you qualify this difference in information? Also, is it possible, in your information regarding this could apply to the off-road model as well? Thanks for any info you can provide.

      @RevZilla  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are more than welcome to reach out to Alpinestars for their official comment. However, from we were told the system will no longer lock you out after 4. The manuals were printed months before this change. Astars still 100% recommends the swap / inspection for a new bag, but the system should no longer lock you out.

    It was mentioned to unplug the battery for air travel (and travel in general). Is there a preferred way to take an airbag on a flight?
    When I had to take a flight to have track earlier this year I found it hard to determine if airbags were actually approved to be taken onboard. My research lead to some quoting the TSA pages that state life vests with CO2 cartridges are approved for carry on or can be checked. That since those are allowed, they counted for airbag systems as well. Helite states that the cartridges could be confiscated and even recommends owner print the form on their page for "Protection". However, that actually gave me enough pause to not take my Tech5 along for the trip. Are the Airlines/TSA aware of airbag systems? Has their been known instances of cartridges being confiscated or is it just CYA on Helite's end?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We flew back from CA at the Tech Air Off-Road launch and had the same questions. Astar's team travels with them all the time and just recommended printing out the documentation for approved travel with them (they have them available if you need it) and putting them in your checked bag and not carrying them on. It worked just fine for us and TSA checked the bag to see what was in it, but had no issue with it being on the plane. We just recommend unplugging the battery since there is no "OFF" button like the Off-Road has, that way there can't be any issues.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is different that Tech Air 5, as that unit doesn't have any jacket / suit connection built in. There isn't anything currently in their line that it zips into directly, but we expect that to change during their Fall launch. However, the 7x can be worn standalone under any fitting jacket in the meantime prior to the supporting products launching.

    Why 5 over 7x for BMW GS? Seems to me that the less bulk is better for the road. I can wear a KLIM Badlands without back protector... 5 seems old tech.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Well keep in mind, with either unit you can wear your Klim Badlands without the back protector since both the 5 and 7x come included with it. But the riding position is the key part. The 7x is designed for the sport full tuck and has an inflatable tail about 5-6 inches longer than the 5 does. So in the upright riding position (like on your GS), you'd be sitting on that portion of the airbag. You can still totally wear the 7x if you wanted, we just recommend sticking with the airbags designed for your specific riding activity, with the 5 being closer for Touring ADV bikes.

    Any minimum arming speed requirement like the 5 and 10 in race mode?
    Can't find any description on the manual, but the led light seems only disply solid green unlike the 5 and 10 disply solid green and yellow prior speed requirement reached in race mode.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Race mode is nearly identical across all of the lines, including the Tech Air 7x. So it won't deploy under around 36mph in Race mode since at that speeds you are either pulling into the pits or riding through them to your setup / or the track. Once moving faster it will be armed. If you need it under that MPH than Street mode would be the right move.

      If you want a cheaper airbag, get a mechanical Helite Turtle 2. New canisters are a lot cheaper as well.
      Back protection goes really low like this one, but the back protector doesn’t go down to the lowest point so you can sit comfortably upright. Compared to the A* it misses the collarbone protection, but it helps your neck from overextending, and the side protection is much lower so it should also protect the hips. And also great is that it has a much larger air volume, so it’s a lot thicker protection when deployed.
