Freeman Dyson is so well versed in so many subjects. He draws no strict lines between scientific disciplines, & seems the better for it.

Rest in peace to a man of the ages. He will be remembered for his far reaching vision of the future and his love for the complexity of creation!

Poor Freeman Dyson, at least he didn’t live to see how the US went rogue.
The Russians trusted the US, Obama/Biden decided to overthrow the President of Ukraine, causing the civil war, and arming their illegal junta in order to attack the people of the Donbass. They stalled the peace process until Russia had to intervene.
Meanwhile they made up the fake election interference 2016, and the fake Trump-Russia conspiracy, in order to turn anti-war progressives into Russia hating xenophobes.
The gall calling Russia the aggressor, they all know they planned this war, it went back to Brzezinski in the 1990’s.
Recall, Brzezinski also started the Afghan War in July 1979, armed jihadists which became al-Qaeda, assassinated the Afghan President, and when the Soviet Union intervened, they called it a “unprovoked invasion” and put on rafts of sanctions. The Empire of Lies was born.
Eight years Russia waited, believing the US would force their puppets to stop the killing. Russia had to to protect the people of Donbass after the eight years of slaughter, while promising they would negotiate, but never did.
None of this had to happen, but ever since the 90’s they wanted to finish the job, destroy Russia, dismember it into five or six statelets.
Secretary of State Madeline Albright said in the 90’s that Russia had too many people and too many resources, and that only 10 million people were enough to extract the resources for the US Empire

Apparently, Mr. Bob Kittle enjoys resembling Bill Nye the Science Guy, whereas Dr. Dyson just likes being himself.

There is a question why the Russians chose to go to war. They knew about the bomb, but until the test in NM did not know that it would work. They had to be poised to strike if we did manage to deliver a bomb because it would, if nothing else, be a great shock to the Japanese forces in Manchuria. The bombs plus the Russian invasion of Manchuria tipped the balance. A one-two punch. Plus the Japanese did not know, as the Russians did, that we had only two bombs.

    • @charlesbouldin3087
      @charlesbouldin3087 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It was a combined effect, on-two punch. But the US could easily have delivered 5-6 more bombs in the next few months, "Groves expected to have another "Fat Man" atomic bomb ready for use on 19 August, with three more in September and a further three in October; a second Little Boy bomb (using U-235) would not be available until December 1945. On 10 August, he sent a memorandum to Marshall in which he wrote that "the next bomb ... should be ready for delivery on the first suitable weather after 17 or 18 August."

@@charlesbouldin3087 as you probably know several assemblies for Fat man bombs were already on Tinian - all they needed was the cores and initiator sets. As these sets became ready they could be airfreighed out so a third and fourth bomb were logistically very possible.

You can’t look out the religion window and science window at the same time . Why not, Mr. Dyson ? Everyone likes to put science in reality and everything religion is just ‘ magic ‘ . Religion is putting an explanation to where the ‘ science ‘came from.
His theory about genome experimentation getting into the hands of everyone smacks tremendously of Jesus’ prediction of the end times being like the days of Noah wherein all flesh on earth was corrupted.
His theory also suggests a time when we may not be much concerned with nuclear arsenals but more with the ‘cute ‘ little creations of animals children might come up with that are similar to the super dangerous creatures Han Solo and Chewbacca were illegally transporting in Star Wars- The Force Awakens

Q: 'Are we going to Mars?' A: 'Yes I hope so' These people are exempt from world overpopulation and ecosystem destruction on unprecedented scale; exempt from 6th mass extinction; exempt from climate changing. They have lived too long on a too large of a budget being isolated from what is currently happening on our planet and politics. I'm sorry but this view is nonsensical, ludicrous even outrageous for our future, there is nothing to be gained from planning sending people out to explore Mars, nothing but more exploitation for the rich and famous. None of this is the world I want to live in - my world is a peaceful, sustainable planet with the great variety of wildlife and foliage we have inherited. There is much more to be said here but I have little time now to say it!

Nobody except the U.S., that is. We are the only nation that has employed them in war. We should never forget that we set an example for the rest of the world...developing nations are a lot like children: they imitate what you do, not what you say.
