Great video, lots of memories there I grew up in the golden age of rotaries…..early to mid 90’s when they were just a car and not the price of a house… my second car was a three owner RX3 GS savanna coupe. Looking forward to the next video 👍👍👍👍

I had a 76 RX4, 13B 5-Speed. Put in a stainless header and exhaust with a turbo (brand) muffler. It was really fast. Not 20B with a 6-speed fast but fast for a little street rocket and it launched with very little tire spin. I used to leave many V8 powered cars in the dust.
Makes me wish i still had mine. Exactly the same model but in red. Blown rotary so swapped to a 1690 Millington crossflow. Omg i miss the old girl now seeing this video.
Saw this beast on DJs car trailer when he left town to begin its journey to your workshop I froffed back then and still froffing lol love the angle on this build it’s keeping its outback heritage 🤙🤙🍻
My mate bought that exact same car, baby blue 10a sedan off the original owner (old lady)still with plastic covering on arm rests in mint nick for $1300 in 1999. How things have changed

I had a rust free Mazda 808 a few years back don’t think they was worth anything, got offered a rx3 coupe for $800 at the same time didn’t think they was worth anything wish I got it now might see if they still have it after watching your video 👌 great content mate awesome builds and quality

Mazda’s a great cars. My uncle recently sold his original 1974. RX4 rotary coupe. Brought it new. back in the day. Still had plastic wrapped seats and door trims
Stumbled on this channel Tonight. Great build love the rotors. I’m flabbergasted that new parts are bolted on a rusty body ? I’ll be at Summernats hope to see it.
Speaking of heat shields, the later rx4 (and probably other models) had an "exhaust overheat" light on the dash, tied in with a thermostat that sat on the boot floor above the rear muffler. I also recall the boot of the rx4 having a layer of white asbestos-like matting between the metal of the boot floor and the boot PVC mat, also above where the rear muffler was.
Looking forward to this build, can't wait to see the look of this thing. I'm no engineer, at 16:09 I would stich weld those factory brackets? both sides .
I'm old enough to remember when these things were new. Also their commercials: Piston engine goes BOING BOING BOING BOING BOING BOING BOING...but the Mazda goes MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm.....
I hope you just chuck some coloured bulbs in the taillights and leave the smashed bits. Love it. I couldn't stop myself trying to pull the beak up a little though. No one will notice =)

That’s unreal. I use to rally bash an rx4 and I loved how it had the beeper for rev limit.

Yeah that’s what I’ve done with the lights.
I did consider it but I don’t think the plastic grill is as flexible as it use to be and might loose it.
