Hi catch-22, Glad you enjoy the Channel content....even more so than Bathurst. Thats a big call. Next year, i might take on the AFL Grand Final and see how many viewers change channel then lol. Thanks for watching.
Ooooo that Mitchell River put my heart in throat! It was pretty dry when I crossed but it was still nerve wrecking. And I still haven’t forgotten the bull dust either! 😵🤞😂 Thanks for sharing the bypass as I didn’t get to experience that. Looks like it was equally challenging! 😮🤣 Great adventure Steve…carry on! 😜👍🏁🏍🏍💨
I don’t think that crossing will be fixed any time soon. I was told that some vehicles (4x4s) were crossing but we didn’t see any evidence of that. They might have to look at options to repair that crossing cause clearly the bath mats aren’t cutting it. See you on the other side.

Hi Steve, I love watching your videos. I've travelled a lot around Australia in my early 20s, and your videos bring it all back. Like you, the outback grabbed hold of me and won't let me go. Keep'em coming....
Thanks for taking the time to comment. The camera gear gets knocked around a fair bit and is expensive to replace but comments like yours make it all worthwhile. Thanks for watching.
Getting interesting now ,, I always worry out on the Dixie Rd and around koolatah n Dunbar when you meet bikes is it one or two only or a tour group on hire bikes . The latter seem to be trying to outdo each other n there’s always a couple of loose units drifting in out of the dust ? Looking forward to seeing if you make to Rats at Musgrave. He’s an old workmate before him n Mary took over more n twenty years ago . Love seeing familiar country. Thanks for sharing,, really appreciated.
Hi GR, my experience is, that when you get a bunch of blokes together you can almost smell the testosterone in the air. You're right, blokes trying to outdo one another or trying to keep up with the guy in front which can only lead to disaster. I've seen it myself on group rides. Riders crossing double lines, apexing corners and generally taking risks they wouldn't normally take. Glad you're enjoying the journey. Thanks for watching.
My backyard there mate. Know that area well. Camped in the Palmer river at Drumduff station before. That Dunbar crossing is one of the most spectacular crossings in Australia. When it’s passable . Knocked around a bit at the Moment
I think they might have to come up with an alternative to the bath mats…I’m not sure how they do that. That crossing will be out of action for a while I’d think. Thanks for watching.
Hi greg, the stuff your thinking about is PSP, Perforated Steel Plate. They use to 'clip' together and were used for temp runways and beach clearance. The problem would be in trying to peg this stuff down in the river bed. Glad you enjoy the Channel content. Thanks for sharing (the vid) and thanks for watching.
Yeah, disappointing when you’re trying to save every drop. I’ve tried to look at options to reduce the spillage but haven’t come up with the answer yet.
I've eaten and survived on a lot of wildlife over the years...you have to check feral pigs for Tuberculosis. The indicator is white spotting in their liver. If you see that, find something else to eat or go hungry. Feral Goat on the other hand is just like lamb...delicious! Thanks for your continued support.
Another great capture Steve! Fuel anxiety… Bulldust anxiety along with ‘unfenced’ roads… FFS! Why aren’t the stations compelled to fence in cattle in? I know it’s expensive and requires a massive undertaking… But the risk exposure to road users is untenable. Rant over. Enjoying tagging along (virtually). Best A
Some of these properties are the size of small European nation, as you say it's expensive and a massive undertaking, so you fence boundaries and huge paddocks ! Drive carefully and respectfully and damages are minimised to all ! The gates you see ....are attached to the fencing systems 😂😋😘
@@simonjones2645 Sure, drive carefully and respectfully… I have. Many thousands of outback kms… All the major dirt / tar roads should be fenced and maintained at station expense, not at my / your insurance premium! 😎

Steve, as your trusty BMW is getting up there in the mileage stakes, and as dirt road travelling equates to about double road use in wear (so I believe), have you had to do any major repairs yet, or only routine maintenance. What is your service regimen?
Hi David, the bike has performed very well. I had the front shock replaced under warranty (it failed in the Flinders around 8,000km) and i had to replace the drive shaft at 107,000km. Other than that, all i have ever done is routine servicing. I usually have a major service done at 20,000km but only do an oil and filter change (which i do myself) every 10,000km. The bike chalks up big km quickly so it doesnt have time to sit around and have things fail from fatigue. I expect that when it does go 'bang' it could be expensive. I have had a report recently that the case hardening has wear on the inlet cam on the RHS Cylinder which will probably require replacing. That MAY be covered under part warranty. The bike is booked in for 19 Oct. It has covered 118,000km.
Steve. Although I’ve jumped to a shift cam 1250, my thinking is that the 1200 would be more bullet proof as less to go wrong if the bike is doing some big numbers like yours. Do you have any view on this? Or will you eventually jump to a 1250 (May be a 1300 by then) …
@@mervharris5183 Hi Merv, I'm not a very technical kinda guy. I am hoping my 1200 will outlast me. My last one was at 140,000km on the clock before written off (fire under the seat).
