Congratulations on the diagonal crossing of the country. I have towed a couple of dirt bikes before from Melbourne to Cairns and then mates have flown in to ride from there to to tip and back to Cairns. Nice video, have been enjoying the series, thanks! I went solo to CY last year in my HiLux, so good to relive virtually exactly what I did again. Tom may have missed it (and possibly it wasn't there this year after the big wet season) but I found a small log bridge just to the left approaching Nolan's from the south which had clearly been used to get bikes across the creek without having to do the deep section that the 4WD's do. And you got the milk!
Another informative episode! The drone shot of the cable-drawn barge seems to indicate the barge is almost half the width of the river! I guess its only like that when the river is low. Fascinating too the WW2 plane wrecks. Portaging a heavy bike with branches... what an ingenious idea, never imagined that as a possible solution! And the visit to Cape Trib / Pajinka... always fascinating to see extreme geographical points. You made it look easy to get there, but I bet it aint that easy.
Hi GL, You see a lotta of interesting stuff on the road if you take the time to smell the roses. Nearly lost my drone at the Tip. Really strong winds! Thanks for watching (again).

Interesting, I’ve seen the tip from Thursday Island but not from the mainland side. Was there for a few days in 97. Another interesting episode, what a trip! Good editing and if only the phone video was done in landscape. That portrait stuff is like filming with blinkers… but it does separate the stuff you’ve recorded from the phone content. Hopefully having the tourists up there helps the locals. Looking fwd to seeing the next one.
Thanks for taking the time to comment…better access (sealed road) will open the area up to everyone, not just 4WDrivers, and help the local economy. But at the same time, the area could be flooded (pardon the pun) with tourists that impacts the local environment and stretch resources and infrastructure. I guess time will tell. Yeah, pity about the portrait stuff but that footage is GOLD. If I didn’t have it, no one would believe me lol.
