Because I'm still getting comments on this three years later ... Gossamer is Orange, not Red. Look at any interviews with artists talking about the character, they refer to him as "orange," and Chuck Jones (HIS CREATOR) specifically calls him the "Orange-Haired Monster"... his original name before they later shoe-horned 'Gossamer' onto him.... (chuckjones.com/characters/gossamer/). The character was originally coloured Orange, subsequent re-issues of the cartoon, with new remasters and new color-timings, have resulted in the original Orange turning more towards a saturated Red. That does not, however, make him Red. It just means the color-timing has been done incorrectly. As a result, some of the more recent appearances have, certainly, been incorrectly coloured Red.
I just saw animation cels and concept art of him. Yeah I see that he's orange. At first I thought he was scarlett but then realized it could be an error when creating the cel animation. Thxs.
Just like Marvin the Martian and The Tasmanian Devil (Taz), Gossamer really had an interesting history despite appearing in 2-3 shorts during the Golden Age and it was the 1990's that helped Gossamer become a recognizable character with fans so you can thank the 90's that helped Gossamer with his recognition. Thanks for the Cartoon Evolution Dave and can't wait for his voice evolution video this month.
At least where Gossamer's appearances in the classic shorts are concerned, its definitely a quality over quantity situation. Yeah he only appeared twice in the classic era, but both were some of the best Looney Tunes moments ever created.
I always loved the two gags Bugs did with Gossamer, playing both a hair stylist and nail stylist, and despite being only in two classic shorts, he left quite a positive impression on me as a kid. Great to see this character continue to diversify over the years.
I gotta admit, I like the darker rings around Gossamer's eyes since it emphasizes his monstrous look. Learning about the origin of his name was pretty interesting.
You'd think Gossamer would just be a one off character to never be seen again- yet, has been a welcomed with open arms! Thanks to his current interactions, it turns out he's a real softy! Its hard not to love him! ❤
I'm always amazed by these LT characters that barely appeared in the original cartoons, but made such an impact they've become franchise staples. I'd credit that to various showrunners, writers, and directors of their more recent TV shows and movies who remembered these characters and used them in every project since. Now if only we can get Wentworth (giant sized child that appeared in one Yosemite Sam solo cartoon) to make some new appearances.
Gossamer actually has a blink and you miss it cameo in Duck Dodgers (2003) during the episode "The Fast and the Feathery". He kinda looks like the 80s Duck Dodgers design.
I like how Gossamer is an original monster compared to other Looney Tunes characters that are well-known monsters, like Count Bloodcount and Hugo the Abominable Snowman.
Gossamer is becoming A real Looney Tune and I love how he had a Real History and he was great in his 2-3 Shorts and he was great in Daffy Duck's Quackbusters and I can't wait to see The Voice Actors who do Gossamer on your Channel!❤💗😊⭐😈🎃

I love Gossamer he was made so well. But a tune that I really wish had his own show is Marvin the Martian. The angry little guy deserves more. In my opinion at least. 🤷♀️
Taz got his own show, so no reason Gossamar couldn't, just what form. Although it would be neat if he is depicted as related to both evil scientists and the witch, and acts differently because he is expected to and make that a plot point (wanting to be accepted).
It should be noted that while Gossamer doesn't appear in the Duck Dodgers TV series, the mad scientist still does in the episode "Enemy Yours" where he's called Dr. Woe and is Marvin the Martian's arch-nemesis.
The Evil Scientist has had numerous other appearances that aren’t mentioned here. But this is the Evolution of Gossamer, not the Evolution of the Evil Scientist.
Like all the Looney tunes characters like Marvin the Martian & Lola Bunny, Gossamer will became an iconic fan favorite looney tunes character like Bugs, Lola, Marvin & Taz due to the people who will say that they got interested on saying: "who's that giant hairy monster with sneakers" Great video mr. Dave Lee 🥕🥕🏀🏀👍🏼
Im not sure how many people have noticed this, but the fact dave ALWAYS puts big chungus on ALL of the thumbnails of his looneytunes cartoon evolution videos makes me lose my mind
No, that’s incorrect. In his earliest appearances he was orange. Chuck Jones himself referred to him as “orange” and original cels show the original coloring. The red color you see is the result of various remasters and color saturations over time.
As I grew up with mainly the Looney Tunes Show, the personalities from the show are the one I'm used to. That means egoistical Daffy , Straightman Bugs, Ambitious Porky, and teenage Gossamer. I really love Gossamer's long fingernails, they're not like claws, they're like actual fingernails and alongside with his sneakers they're his most defining feature. "Oh yeah Gossamer, the orange monster that wears sneakers and has long fingernails."

@@DaveLeeDownUnder It's weird, even as a kid seeing it on a 1980s era tv, I always remembered him being red. I guess I just didn't look close enough at the time, LOL.
