I'm so glad the _Tiny Toons_ are back. This show not only revitalized the _Looney Tunes,_ but introduced so many great and hilarious characters that made my childhood so much better. And the parodies, my god they were brilliant, and opened my mind to movies and shows I never would've considered otherwise.

It’s fair to say that without Roger Rabbit, we would have never had Tiny Toons, or Animaniacs or the DCAU! It really is one of the most impactful movies in animation history.

Not to mention the Disney Renaissance or even the start of Nicktoons - the latter of which spearheaded all the creator-driven cartoons we got in Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and countless others that we still get today.

I like the reboot, but miss the fluid animation of the old series. It makes the show more stilted. I hope the series expands beyond the school in future episodes.
The old series took the characters across the country and around the world. Even to places like wacky Land. Acme Acres was a much bigger sandbox for the characters to play in as opposed to just Acme Loo. It also felt larger in scope with episodes like the wacky land toons basically being poached, earthquakes tearing through AA because of a missing mound of gold, buster finding a dinosaur egg that got surprisingly emotional.. it really felt like the toons could do anything, as opposed to just school-based hijinks.
But we've only gotten 10 episodes so far so here's hoping the series can grow.

Unfortunately, that kind of animation has gone out of style with the development of technology and rising costs. To produce something of that quality these days would require a price 3x as mush as the original.

Absolutely love Tiny Toons! Especially the parodies, The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, MTV, In Living Color, and many other shows and dramas that us 80s into 90s kids were well aware of despite parents thinking, "We wouldn't get some of the gags!" For example, Babs making fun of normally Madonna but also Homey the Clown!❤😂

For those wondering about the controversy with Charlie Adler, it's because the network was under paying him even though he was one of the main stars of the show. He felt insulted at the pay cut they were trying to force upon him, so he walked out. Luckily, the Tales from the Crypt Keeper's voice actor, was capable of capturing Charlie Adler's high-pitched screams and performances! This was itself kind of a parody, as , Charlie Adler played Buster as a Crypt Keeper in one of the Halloween episodes, so this fusion worked out great. I only know firsthand because I got to meet my pal Cryptkeeper at a couple of conventions and he and I sat down discussed how this whole thing happened! Ofcoarse I thanked him for covering for one of my other favorite voice actors!

Tbh, even though I love his voice for Buster Bunny... I feel like he does better whenever he used his hilarious cartoony voice (usually for Cow, Chicken, Red Guy, Candy, the Bigheads and Grouchy Bear.)
Also, yeah. I feel bad for Adler.

It wasn’t just a contract issue, Charlie was upset that he was passed over for the part of Yakko in the then new show, Animaniacs. Charlie was an established voice actor at the time and Rob Paulsen was on his way up the ladder and he felt that he had earned the right to the lead role after the success of Tiny Toons. Rob Paulsen has discussed this a couple of times including the Toon Cast podcast.

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@araccoonreviews4620 I love Charlie's voice and all, but he would NOT have been a good Yakko. That HAD to be Rob. The character needed that almost smarmy car salesman charmer voice that only Rob could deliver, while Charlie is more well known for denser, wackier voices. It's a shame that he felt that way, and I wish they offered him a different character, but he was just a wrong fit.

It’s interesting how Roger Rabbit is often credited for starting the Disney Renaissance, but learning if the developments of Tiny Toons and Animaniacs makes you realise it also had a profound impact on WB and the Looney Tunes as well. If only also would have kickstarted a triumphant comeback for Betty Boop or Woody Woodpecker as well. Makes Boops cameo all the more poignant.

Fun fact: Gogo Dodo is the only Tiny Toon character who is related to a Looney Tunes character (his father is Yoyo Dodo from the 1938 cartoon "Porky in Wackyland" & it's 1949 remake). The new Tiny Toons is Terrible and the fraternal twins switch is just awful. The whole “totally different timeline” excuse is bS for an unnecessary retcon that hasn’t really paid off yet storywise. The new design is angular jerky and unpleasant to watch and the characters are uninspired shadows of themselves save for Sweetie who is actually a little more robust.
Tiny Toons is not a property that needs a multiverse and making that change to make them siblings was a dumb one. If the excuse was to remove undercurrent of romance from a kids show then what was the whole A plot of the Montana Max episode about?

My favorite was when Plucky was a waiter at a ritzy restaurant and served all the movie and TV stars of the time... it was definitely an homage to 'Hollywood Steps Put' (1941). I also really liked Shirley the Loon! The thing about both 'Tiny Toons' and 'Animaniacs' is that there were definitely two versions in production: one had a sharp look to the animation, and was definitely the better of the two, and the other was more rounded and almost looked sloppily made. I've always wished that the first, sharper look was what they stayed with, but I suppose it was due to budgeting.

The Animaniacs reboot is like a continuation from it's 1993 - 1998 show while Tiny toons Looniversity (Tiny toons Reboot) is like a reimagining of the original tiny toons adventure since it's like the characters never met each other

Not a fan of the reboot. I watched five episodes & didn't crack a smile or even a slight chuckle. Turning Tiny Toons into a situational comedy takes all the spontaneity out of it. I liked how the OG series went all over Acme Acres, from Babs' house, to Plucky's, to Montana Max's crib, etc. We explored their world, which added to the "looney"ness. Keeping them stationary in the Looniversity setting is a one trick pony that should've been featured in an episode or two instead of a centerpoint of the entire series

  • @cianroe3233
    @cianroe3233 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Hey Dave, speaking of Looney Tunes, even though it seems like you have done evolutions on all of them, there are still two left you should do.
First is Granny kind of, as while I know you already briefly talked about her in your Sylvester and Tweety evolution, she is just as prominent a both of them, so I think it would be fair to do a more in-depth evolution about the looney grandma.
And secondly is rather surprising one, but it’s Michigan J. Frog, as despite just being a ‘one and done’ character as you would say, he has somehow became just as recognisable as the rest of the star Looney Tunes, so it would be a really unique evolution about him.
I know there are other Looney Tunes characters out there, but I don’t think they are really recognisable enough to really be given evolutions, not every character is really has that amount of material.

It cracked me up very much even though it has many innuendos and cartoon violence that overly stimulating my
childhood mind BUT I LOVED IT A LOT! After it's cancelled, I start rewatching that also with Batman, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain
even Freakazoid. Those are my childhood memories to remembering them. The reboot of that series wasn't that bad. It's much better
than the PPGs reboot 2016. Regardless from those bunnies as siblings, I wish they were back as a cutest couple. But in this generation, reboots
need to be bring back the zantiness since the Animaniacs reboot. I hope the new version of Tiny Toons will remain original not as classic as the original.
WB, please, continue the reboot to make all fans enjoying the old times in which you did decades ago. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, DOC!

Great show and movies! So sad that to this day here in Germany Tiny Toons still has not been given a proper release yet. Would love to have it complete on DVD or even BD.

Tiny Toons was a revolutionary series at the time, and one of the shows to start the 90's revolution just before Nicktoons blew the lid off of it. Though I always wondered why the series was about them going to school to become cartoon stars if their only starring cartoons were about them going to school. I guess you could call the second half of the series their senior thesis. Anyway, I'm 2 episodes into the revival, and I'm enjoying what I'm seeing so far. Kind of reminds me of the Muppet Babies reboot, using the same characters in different ways for a different audience, but still being relatively the same. And I am impressed that they are using long suffering 60's LT characters and NOT as a "you suck" joke. Merlin the Mouse, actually likable and looked upon with respect? Never thought I'd see the day. I give them all the credit in the world for diving into the dark age of LT and treating those characters as equals, even though I'm not a fan of that era of the characters.

For some reason, I like Merlin The Magic Mouse. Especially when Daws Butler voiced him.
Probably due to the fact I like W.C. Fields.
I always thought Cool Cat was a bargain basement Pink Panther, though.

My sister and I loved Tiny Toons, back in the day! We especially loved the whole "There's a car!" bit, from the movie! I'm still watching, to this day! This series, much like Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, didn't need a remake, though, because it just cheapens the nostalgia. Instead of updating our favorites, what Hollywood really needs are original ideas, that are still just as sharp and clever as previous cartoons, and that aren't pushing an agenda.

The few problem with the reboot is that the rabbit becomes sibling, some of the characters become more annoying & less entertaining like Max, Shirley & Dizzy. And finally some of the new voice didn’t have flair

  • @josiahlara7216

I honestly think they should have kept Buster and Babs Bunny as a couple thing like how it was back in the day. Plucky had Shirley, Hampton should have gotten a girl pig 😅 and Fifi should have a male skunk. Not a ship fan for Hampton and Fifi 🤢 abomination to the animal species..

I SO can’t wait for when you do a Cartoon Evolution about the SWAT Kats, especially after the SWAT Kats: Revolution hits the streaming services!
SWAT Kats is one of the most underrated shows that gained a massive audience in the last 30 years!
And I’m super excited that Charlie Adler and Barry Gordon are gonna reprise their roles as T-Bone and Razor!
I’m looking forward to when the first reveal trailer is uploaded, so I can see the animation and hear the voice cast once again!
Bless Gary Owens and Brock Peters, they’re heavily missed.

I can see the reboot going either way. Changing Buster and Bab's relationship will be very hard to adapt to unless you are new to the series.
Lola bunny will be a welcomed addition but it also completely alters the motivation behind one of Bab's biggest episodes where she revises Honey and Bosko though they could still toss Honey, Bosko and Buddy back in to the story some how.
Bottum line, if the series has too many of the Hulu Animaniacs flaws the comedy will feel cringe
if the series is too full of dated ideas it won't feel relevant to the modern times.
The series needs to try some thing new while also not being too new.

original, in writing, animation, and voice acting, it’s just “meh”, I can just imagine parents who grew up with the original getting excited to watch it with their kids because it was a reboot of something they grew up with, only to be disappointed and weirded out by it.

Loonaversity is a good reboot! Unlike the Animaiacs reboot, Loonaversity made sure to include its diverse cast, and seeing how its established as a diffrent show, and not a continuation of the original, gives new takes on characters to spice things up. Although sadly, the " No Relation" gag is forever lost!😢❤

As a longtime fan of the original 1990 series, I hope that it gets brought to MAX and that Konami's Tiny Toons video games get brought to modern consoles in a compilation similar to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. I've seen the Looniversity reboot, and while far from the worst reboot I've ever seen, It's not as good as the original series, due in part to its changes that I'm not fond of.
